You killed me with those random cutting paths.
lol posting from the grave, that's a new one ;)
junk plastic cam shafts check it out
My Honda is 42 years old and still running just fine
Right on! That's a good long life
Best non commercial walk behind
For sure!
C'mon now, HRX smokes this!
I own a HRX 217 mower from Honda !& it never fails! It’s due for its yearly maintenance! Maintenance is Key to longevity!
Clean it up, sharpen a blade, check plugs and oil, send er' lol
@@SomeGuysGaragecan’t forget the air filter
@@jaredkish8716 oh ya, little pst pst with the air hose on those (off the mower lol)
I just started my job today and this is the exact mower I used lol
Nice! :)
I’ve used one of these before at one of my relatives house and it really works well, shreds through grass like butter!
Yeah, I'm always impressed just how well it eats tall wet grass.
I've got a craftsman mower with a honda engine on it and it really is amazing
solid combo!
Are you sure it’s not a Briggs?
@@6atlantis 100% sure as it says Honda GCV160 on it
@@ryanhooton7656 I copied the wrong comment to the wrong video.
Same. Best machine i have ever owned. 16 years strong!
Using honda izy 416 7 years on and still smiling 😃
They're so rock solid :)
definitely helps when your bagging it though. i would like to see if it bogs down when you don’t bag it
I usually mulch not bag, it works just as well...
might have to get one then 😂
I have the same mower and this (mulch mode) might be the best way to use it because the grass clippings do not go into the bag at all.
Yup, and it's good to keep the nutrients in the lawn too!
probably had a mulching blade if i’m not mistaken there are high lift blades for bagging or discharging
I have 2 Honda HRR216 mowers, love them! Very reliable
They are solid mowers!
I own a HRR ?and I LOVE IT!! Have had for 3yrs now.
Right on :)
Do u also have problems with the front wheels coming loose?
@@zbark3110 I haven't had any issues with the wheels
I have the GCV170 on the older deck, what a mower! Would love to have the GCV200.
Both engines are great!
i just adjusted the rpm’s on my craftsman push mower from 2800 to 3200 and nothing stops it now
Damn, that would be potent!
I just got one for twenty bucks. Like new condition. No start situation, lady didn’t want to deal with it. I brought it back to my place cleaned the carb out. Fires right up. Sold it for $225.
That's a tidy profit on the flip :)
I have one and love it is powerful I got mine at the end of 2020
Right on!
Nice work
Thanks :)
My Honda is from the 80s and still runs great
They are champs!
Grass keeps growing
It sure does and it's only April!
And with Honda out of the lawnmower business in 2024…they become priceless collectors items
I know, it's so sad they pulled out :(
How do you see replacement parts in the future? I’m debating what to get now after them discontinuing
The usual spark plugs and filters and carbs should be no problem, specific parts might be more tricky though.
When honda, echo, stihl and other gas products are banned in california 2024 ,these small dealerships when switched to battery powered equipment will still carry parts for gas equipment.move out of california and you wont have that problem,if were still alive🙏🧎♂️
I own the HRX model, I love it!! Only complaint is the rear grass chute, been looking for the side chute kit but no dice.
Other than that they are excellent mowers if maintained properly
I bag once in the spring to clean up the dead stuff in the yard, but then just run multching mode all summer...works great without rear/side discharge.
I agree for the most part BUT the all will have trouble rolling backwards at some point. The rear wheel system is way over engineered and the problems were never addressed but were left up to us to remedy. All that said I have 2 of them that even with the "issue" I probably won't replace.
That for the self propelled ones? Mine is a push mower, no issues with the wheels.
Can you try two feet tall grass so I can see if it still cuts because my lawn grows about two feet a week
lol I don't have any grass that tall...I highly doubt it would enjoy grass that tall, might need to go brush hog at that point or a combine harvester LOL
Thatsy main mower for all my yards.
They're a solid mower!
I love my Honda civic
Who wouldn't!?
I have a 17 year old Troy-Bilt/Hond. And haven't had no issues with it.
That's a solid combo!
I love mine but it has some flaws. Now matter how sharp my blades are or how slow I go it misses grass. Leaves lots of long blades. At least on mulch
What shape is the deck in? Clean under there or caked up? There's airflow needed to stand the blades of grass up to be cut.
Had 3 Honda mowers on this crew I worked with - they always do and will. Brand spanking new - 45 seconds after it started for the very first time it started it's first cut and left lots of uncut. Did verify blade was ready.
@@SomeGuysGarage it's pretty clean. Mower is just 1 year old. I clean it every 3-5 cuts. I guess it's kinda common for hondas
I throw my Honda on top of a patch of ornamental long grass like 6ft long. It clogs up but it gets the job done
That's really impressive!
I can attest to the HRN being great. Mines only just being replaced now after approximately 4000 lawns.
Must work in lawn care?
How'd u guess? 😂 yeah, got mine at the start of the whole covid pandemic. Couldn't get a commercial Honda for months when everything stopped. this was the closest I could get at the time. Served me very well for a domestic mower.
@@jimbooo1365 that's pretty awesome, I've used mine probably only a few dozen times at this point, good to know it's maybe 10% of the way through its life lol
I tightened the pull spring just a little. Got a little more power
How does the pull string add power?
@@SomeGuysGaragemakes the blade spin faster
I bet you can flash a K-Tuner on that thing with an Intake and exhaust 👀. I wouldn’t be surprised that blades put down like 50 WTQ
LOL that would be fun, or slap a little snail on er'
I miss making these
Shorts?
@@SomeGuysGarage the lawnmowers
@@MrKn1ght ohhh :( ya, I guess with them discontinuing the gasoline powered ones, so sorry!
In your opinion which model is the best for longevity?
Nice straight lines....AAARRGGGG what are you doing with the angles! Kidding aside, I have a Jonsered with a Honda engine. Awesome
The backyard isn't worth straight lines lol but I hear ya
Is there a side discharge attatchment for this model? My mower always stalls when mulching because my grass is ALWAYS wet and clogs up the deck
No side discharge...you can either multch, bag, or rear discharge with it. I've never had it clog up in any mode in any grass, it's impressive.
I wish there was a side discharge
Man ol man did they try to sell me the next up model with a side discharge.
I told them. I’m moving up from my super basic model craftsman so I can bag. Mulching and side discharge isn’t doing me any good when I’m trying to get rid of dead material.
I mowed my new home property today and some of the grass was every bit of 18 inches, 3 acres, wet and ZERO issues
There good mowers, but there not making them anymore. If you can get one do it now. I understand they will still put out parts for the motor.
Yeah, up here in Canada some are available still...but not so much in the US. Definitely get them while you can!
I got a troy bilt TB115 and a Briggs and Stratton Murray they never bogs even with the same grass height in your video I don't know if it's just the grass being dry or not it bogs a bit it high wet grass almost all push powers do have fun with the Honda no offense but I'm not a Honda fan but every has there options have a good one
Troy/Briggs is a solid combination too, both are great mowers!
@@SomeGuysGarage this is my first 2years mowing it's relaxing and the best part is hearing the beautiful sound of my 13 year old Briggs and Stratton Murray it pops and sometimes backfires I love that it still run like new also my brother has a husky branded mower I don't have a clue what the model is also the Murray was a hand me down that's why it's so old
I wish Honda would make a 30" walk behind. I would like an alternative to my Toro Timemaster. I would like pneumatic wheels 12" on rear, 10" swivel on front and please a 3.5" cutting selection. If Toro did this, many Timemaster users would happier.
A bigger gas tank is nice but the other things I mentioned are more important.
Honda's moving out of the gas lawn mower market slowly too though, so unlikely we'll see something like that.
@@SomeGuysGarage
That's too bad. Lawn mower makers negect those of us with just under an acre. They think everyone wants a rider. I am 57. I will get a rider when I am 75.
I heard on lawn mowering boards that EGO is making a residental 30" in 2025. I see they have a 30" commerical version but it is $4,000+.
Try that on some Bahaia grass in Florida.
Sounds fun :)
Works just fine on Florida grass!
Mine does nothing but leave grass on top of the lawn
LoL better than leaving grass in the air?
I work on all models of Honda mowers currently have over 50 in stock. The HRN216 is literally the CHEAPEST Honda model ever made with plastic everywhere But is still much better than most other brands
Plastic doesn't rust..and a lot of mowers have gone that way. I didn't want self propelled (small yard and lots of things to trim around) but wanted multching, this was the only option.
What model do you think is best?
@@OOOOOO12345HRX 537 C5 with 200 motor
Io adoro la trazione idrostatica del mio hrh. Non lo ferma nessuno, ha molta forza
right on!
Stihl lawn mower every time
I love the Honda's but Stihl definitely makes good ones too!
I support America.
What mower do you have?
@@SomeGuysGarage Not a Japanese one.
They are pretty good until you need to do any kind of slightly in depth engine work
7 gaskets+spacers and a terribly complicated throttle/choke control plate
1 carb change takes 20 more minutes that Briggs or Tecumseh carb change
Just give a primmer Briggs a fuel switch and it’s the best in the world
yea, Honda has never been the simplest...but they do run/cut great!
I just purchased a Honda lawn mower after my Toro broke down after 15 years. I'm loving it. Pricey, but well worth it
For sure, you'll love it!
I agree!💂♂️
Rockin' a Honda too? :)
No discharge chute?
Nope, mulch, bag, or rear/bottom discharge.
I just set my HRX217 out by the curb. Six years and many trips to the dealership later I’m finally free of that lemon.
Where's the curb? I'd fix er up lol
They literally rubbish i like Victa’s the 2 strokes
As much as I like Honda equipment, I do my best to avoid their Chinese-built componentry. So, my most recent purchase was a one-year old Kubota with a Honda GXV engine. It's an absolute beast.
Seems like the best of both worlds :)
so are victas
well the old ones like the 18 my father has 27 of them
Nothing beats a good old school mower!
built in fuel shutt-off!!!
love my Honda!
however R.I.P. Honda mowers in North America😭😭😭😭
I know right!?
I mow 3 feet of grass with mine 😅
Damn, post some vids of that dude!
I’m so sad that Honda will not make any more mowers after next year.
Only in the US and Sept 2023 from what I've heard...which means you can still get one this coming year.
Why not?
@@alexhunter6141 Only will sell electrics in the U.S.
I bought one today. I considered the highest end of them all but those are for people that skip leg day 😂 and I also like knowing I don’t have to worry about a transmission ever. Also half the price
Agreed, I didn't go self propelled as they just make it a more bulky/heavier mower and another thing to go wrong some day. The push ones are great as is!
Lawn boy makes the best mowers imo, but Hondas are incredible
Honda's are great for the engines...but there are other great mowers out there for sure.
So they don't have vtec?
LoL nope, no variable cam here...
Forgot to include
PIA to work on
No need to work on them though :) a little cleaning, bit of blade sharpening, some oil once a year, and maybe a plug once a decade. Mine's still running like a champ, zero issues years later.
I’ve bought two Hondas and they both started surging within a few months
Bad gas?
Anyone with the same mower does anyone's hrn216 leak fuel when you tip it nose first mine does I'm not sure if that's normal?
What do you mean nose first?
I've had no issues with fuel leakage on mine yet though.

Mine's an HRN, the HRX are even better but I didn't need one that fancy for my small yard.

Hrn216 vs ego, which one is better?
Honda all day for gas....Ego if you want battery though.
@@SomeGuysGarage which one is more reliable?
@@RyanTran-tm8or with no maintenance the battery one will hold up better since there's no fuel to go bad or oil/plugs/filters to change just charge and go and it will work every time, but with maintenance the gas one will last decades whereas the battery one's batteries will die in 5-10 years at most.
@@SomeGuysGarage is it hard to maintenance?
@@RyanTran-tm8or if you're handy it's not too bad but since you're asking about it, I would probably go battery as it will be less trouble for someone that doesn't know small engines.
They won't pick it up for no love and no money let me tell you, slightly moist and it's game over
eh?
Why cut through the grass and make a diagonal cut. That is a great way to show people how great a mower is. Crappy lines.
The yard is tiny, lines aren't important lol
I have one I beat the crap out of that thing and runs perfect
That's why they're the best!
I know
I’ve had it for two years and have never change the oil on it. I probably should, but nothing runs like a dream.
There not going to do no more Honda engines 😔
What?!
Yup they didn’t pass there inspection something like that they where doing stuff that they should not on the engines 😏
Too bad they’re discontinued
ikr?
With a great mower like that, at least try to be "great" with the presentation. You just mowed that lawn like a damm maniac. 😂
LoL it's because of comments like this, I almost want to mow like an actual maniac :D
You Mulch?
I usually bag once at the start of the season to get the crap out of the lawn from winter, then a good dethatch (I have a greenworks detacher too), but after that it's all multching! Cuts it up nice and fine, ever since I switched to this mower and multching I only need to dethatch once a year instead of once a month :)
I’ve used a couple Honda mowers I’m convinced your trying to mock them atleast learn how to actually mow or instead of complaining have someone else mow for you
No mocking, they are awesome?
Yup & they don’t make them anymore!
Can still get them up here for the moment...
Why did they stop?
Honda engines are no joke! 1 pull your running BUT the self propelled are JUNK! I don't know if they sub out the engineering but Honda mowers aren't worth the $ if they can build the rest of the mower to be Worthy of the Honda engines then the extra few hundred wouldn't be an issue until then I remain embarrassed that I spent my hard earned $ on that POS!!!!
I didn't go self propelled so that helps lol I'm going on a few years with it, no issues.
Honda has one of the best and robust self propelled system. It's hydrostatic and can be controlled.
Ceramic coat it😂
LOL why?
@@SomeGuysGarage because it’s a Honda
Didn’t have to ruin your lawn just to do this video
You talk like I had a choice in the weather
RIP
Still working just fine
@@SomeGuysGarage I meant RIP Honda lawn mowers in the US. I love my Honda it’s beat but runs great probably 18 years old now good mower. I never had to clean the carb yet. Just run the gas empty before winter and replace filters every 4 years and use fresh gas that’s been it. Rust is what will kill my mower. It has almost a half fist sized rust hole in the deck side and it gets bigger every time I use it at this point.
@@karlstevens2483 oh, yeah, such a shame they discontinued them...hopefully used market keeps them around a while longer

@@SomeGuysGarage like right after you mowed this lawn. My mower gets FULL and clogged pretty quick when not bagging because there is is no discharge hole. I have to stop and take out chunks of grass after a few passes
@@superman1251 using it on discharge or mulch mode? I either bag or mulch, never try to discharge without a bag.
@@SomeGuysGarage same as video. Mulch, no bag needed.
@@superman1251 no issues with clumping here, all gets dropped on mulch mode.
I guess the other question is how low are you set? I usually run 2.5 or 3.
Honda mowers are garbage, don't buy. I have two, within 6 months everything falls apart. They are constantly in the shop and Honda is the only mower vendor that doesn't stand behind their products and does not offer a warranty. I am sorry I spent my money on Honda.
I'm surprised to hear that, mine hasn't had a single issue yet in a few years, nothing broken, just normal clean it and sharpen the blade stuff.
@@SomeGuysGarageI have two, both are in and out of the shop on a regular basis. If you have a small yard then this mower is ok. But keep in mind Honda doesn't stand behind their products like other manufacturers do. If anything fails, you pay because Honda only pays for manufacturing defects, which is another way of saying they will pay for nothing.
My Toro was a lot better than the honda
How so?
@@SomeGuysGarage more reliable, didn't leak oil, the plastic parts on it didnt break, always started on one pull (honda sometimes takes multiple), the bag holds the grass better (actually fills it all the way up), etc.. Don't get me wrong, I abuse the honda and it still keeps going...hell, i haven't changed the oil on it in 6 years, but the toro was just a better mower. I think it cut better too, personally.

LOL but ya, yard is a weird shape and I was doing this one handed :D
Well anything could mow that! How about some real world mowing?
lol what do you consider real world?
@@SomeGuysGarage Like a normal yard with brush, weeds, shrubs. not a golf course Hollywood lawn. No offense your lawn is absolutely stunningly beautiful I can’t imagine how much time you must spend on it, but most of us have a much different situation when it comes to mowing. I haven’t tried the Honda yet but every singe push mower I’ve owned is severely underpowered. I currently have a Toro POS push mower and that thing is almost useless for mowing my yard. It just bogs down and stalls constantly. I was thinking about getting a much bigger engine for it however the deck and blade are just so weak that they both bend constantly 🤬🤬🤬 Anyway I know a tractor with a brush hog or a flail mower is the answer but my yard isn’t big enough to justify one. Just trying to find a halfway decent push mower but it probably doesn’t exist.
@@Trump985 lol honestly I don't spend much time on it, cut it regularly (when it's not raining), fertilize a couple times a year and some over seeding in the spring, maybe an occasional dethatch once a year, and patch with soil any bare spots...but like, we're talking maybe an average of an hour a week tops :)
Even then, a lawn full of weeds I find is easier to mow than really thick wet grass...but this Honda just chews through it. My old briggs powered mower I couldn't even take a half deck cut on similar grass without it stalling.
All metal gas and oil Honda or Briggs & Stratton motor
Big box stores are now selling cheap China plastic junk battery operated won't last two months
So true!
