The one thing I learned when I switched to Nikon and now Sony from shooting Canon is the difference in that the older Canon glass, (8- blade aperture, 8-point sunstar) can produce sunstars without having to stop down so fare. I personally am not as big of fan with 'busy' sunstars that the Nikon and Sony and newer Canon lenses produce (9-blade aperture, 18-point sunstars). That's probably the biggest reason I like shooting with the Sony a7rIII is not so much the camera but I can still use older Canon glass when I want a nice clean minual sunstar. The Zeiss Loxia lenses, (10-straight blade, 10-point sunstar) are also very nice. The Zeiss Loxia 21mm will produce a sunstar even at f/2.8! Just a preference. But another great informative video as always.
Hi, I've been there several times over the years and have never seen another photographer there, until today. When I was there today, two young fellas showed up with backpacks, tripods and wellies. One went upstream and the other down. They definitely had a plan. Not saying its a bad thing, just saying, that's all. Cheers
Awesome work Adam! Forest and river scenes can be so damn tricky to simplify. You always do such a fantastic job turning all that chaos into beautifully composed works of art!
i prefer the image at 9:40 better....because the one at 10:08 has your friends tripod in it 😂 one of my favourite beach shots that i got, one that i was really pleased with. on closer inspection has my camera bag in it 🙄 love your channel.....i have subbed 👍
Thanks Adam & his lordship... You have become masterful in the art of subtle light indeed. I agree, the image from the previous day shot at 1.5 sec. exp. was exceptional. Funny, typically my preferred speeds on smallish waterfalls is around .4 or .5 secs.to capture those beautiful water shapes without turning the water into a flurry slush. However, I love it when a slightly longer exp. sometimes turns out to be the winning shot! Great stuff Adam & I thank you again... Bill on the Hill, Vermont, USA... :~)
William Farr actually I’ve found you can’t predetermine shutter speed for a look because it depends on how fast the water is moving. In the spring when the water is really flowing I’m usually around ½ sec whereas in the summer if it hasn’t rained lately it could be several seconds.
Beautiful photos Adam and looks like another great day out with Gavin. Particularly the 3 photos from about 12:45 through 13:20. Excellent shots overall and some great advice. As always thanks for posting and sharing. Also wanted to say congratulations on the 22k subscribers, seems like you caught up and have surpassed Gavin pretty quickly.
@@QuietLightPhoto You may be right and it does not matter, just seem like when I first started watching your channel it was near the start and only like 1K. Both are excellent and I wish you and Gavin much success on the YT channels. Have a safe and enjoyable day.
I liked the way you showed how you moved around the area to get the best of the compositions. There seemed to be many. I think the image at the 13 minute mark showed the best aspects of the light and composition. Thanks again
Great video Adam! Besides the wonderful photography, I have to comment on your remarkable skills as a drone pilot. Your video shots coming through, over, around and close to the trees and water in all of your videos is second to none. Perhaps you should have a workshop one day on how to use drones to accentuate the beauty of a location?
Great instructional video. I appreciate your willingness to document and share your struggles to get that "great" shot and that sometimes it just isn't going to happen the way you want it to. It's reassuring for we lesser talents to see the pros at work and to know that even for them the great shot doesn't always fall into their laps.
Great idea for you both to do workshops together. I would pay for the humour alone. You are the type of guys that I like to be associated with and get to know so I might attend a workshop in the future.
hope you get as good light over here in Scotland,as you did at this gorgeous location.couple of things to remember for your upcoming trip.you will be coming just at the start of midge season, and we have lochs here, with just a couple of lakes.really looking forward to seeing your videos of our wee country.is it the highlands and islands you are off to? (glencoe, skye etc)
Magical location and beautiful photography. Thank you for walking us through your process of taking a photographs. I am surprised that this picturesque stone bridge is only from 1966. I wish you to have a wonderful trip to Scotland.
Very nice images and hope you are enjoying good old Scotland. Wondering if you got to see some snow earlier in the week with the short cold snap we had.
Hi Adam, very enjoyable episode, the stone bridge is definitely on my must find location list. The opening drone footage was spectacular, seemed like it couldn't have been more than a few inches above water level. Thanks for sharing!
I can see that Gavin has been in to give his thumbs down .... ;) Excellent video as usual. I really like your way of telling and explaining your views.
Just a beautiful location Adam! That shot at 13:05... (in my best Tom Heaton accent) Absolutely Stunnin... Would love to attend that workshop if life allowed... not likely but you guys are going some great places so it should be fantastic!
Any chance we could see the full shot then zoom in for the detail. I just find it a bit frustrating waiting to see the whole image. it may just be me sorry. Great work as usual. You are my favourite photographer.
most guys have some coffee first thing in the morning to wake up buy you guys take a wiff of each others boots ..... hmmmm ... well whatever works ......the pictures are great
Another great video Adam! Tons of potential in that spot I think. Due to the lighting conditions did you end up spending a lot of time in post? Cheers!
Love your videos and love your photography. I WAS thinking about joining you on the April workshop but $1995 for 2 days? Seriously? I can join another group run by another well known UA-cam photographer to Iceland for 13 days for just under twice that. Sorry mate way too expensive. Keep up the good work with the channel though.
A bonny spot, indeed, and some bonny images. In Bonny Scotland the weather is warming a bit, so they're waiting for you and drooling at the prospect of fresh meat... the midges, that is, they like a bit of fresh meat they do. Be afraid, be very afraid!
Great pictures as usual! What the hell was Gavin shooting, hasn’t he learned by now that he should copy your compositions, does he not realize that he will never have a chance of being an international award winning landscape photographer if he submits lesser quality images of the same locations as you?🤣
Jeffrey Hawker He must be so grateful to get to shoot with the landscape photographer of the year. Adam is clearly very generous with his time for learners.
My apologies for the UK, Scotland reference, a Freudian slip of the tongue😉
Thankfully we’re still part of the UK!
I actually just thought you were emphasising
it was more likely to find it in Scotland.....
Thankfully we will be independent soon. 😀
Just . . . Wow!
Hope you guys have a blast in Scotland when you come over here👍
Your Videos are always a pleasure, Adam!
That bridge is beautiful...wish we had more like it in Canada, I agree, we don't out here either (East Coast).

For what it's worth, I really like the texture of the water in your image at 4:21.

Michael Shainblum thanks so much Michael!
Really like getting 2 vlogs of you both.
That last set of images really nailed it IMO.
It's always a joy to watch you guys shooting together - love the banter. Great work as always... I love the last shot

I couldn't agree more. Adam could guide a drone through a moving car window.
Great chemistry between both of you , it's refreshing, inspiring and educational. Great work. Keep those videos comimg. Thank you.
Thnx for another great vlog Adam.
Well done Adam! It definitely looks like a great location that would provide some beautiful images during different weather and seasonal changes.
Fantastic B-roll at the beginning of the video! Beautiful 😊
Fantastic Adam, thanks for sharing a truly magical place that has a lot of potential different times of the year.
Very nice video
I liked it immediatly at 1:04 because of this footage taken by the drone under the bridge : you are a very talented pilot Adam !
Great stuff. Really enjoy seeing both of your perspectives.

Derek bell-jack were on Mull for a week and then Glencoe and Skye
You guys both make want to quit my job and move to BC
Certainly going into the photographing waterfalls collection. Got lots of potential in this spot year round. So lucky to have this.
Lovely!!
Wow... Great pictures Adam. I'd love to get the results of your"crap" shots. I thought they were great.
That first drone sequence is awesome. Great video.
You're a magician Adam. I really enjoyed the location. Spend a bit of time and it unfolds. Mark
Beautiful done Adam - love the bridge and water (near/far composition). Nicely done guys.
I love the photo at 6:20
Fantastic like always :)
Great find guys. Lovely images. Keep up with good work both of you :)

Thank you for another great video, when are you going to the q&a video? Thank you for sharing
Samuel Augustin hopefully this week
Yes I’m so excited 😆
Magic location Adam, love to see it in quiet light. Great drone footage as always - stunning low pass over the cascade!

Come to Oregon! Our bridges are beautiful!
Shot at Mesa Arch, Vancouver Island. Quite close to McMesa Arch in Scotland.
Really like that day before shot, that one is a beauty. Why doesn't Gavin wear socks?
Rich Cower because he’s weird?
I will have to look into that workshop with Laurel and Hardy, should be a blast
Adam, Scotland is in the UK (just about)! BTW, wonderful vlog.
I can see that Gavin has been in to give his thumbs down .... ;) Excellent video as usual. I really like your way of telling and explaining your views.
Great video Adam. Hopefully you may just miss the midges in Scotland!
Another excellent video, Adam. Did you call the beams "God beams"? ;).

Hi Adam, loved your shots!! How do you get that sunstar? Particular settings that make it look that way?
Edgars O a small f stop like f16 and partially block the sun usually works
@@QuietLightPhoto Thank you! Will give it a try.

Great video again. I agree. Fog would've made it better. Hope you can return to get that shot.
Where is the lenscloth?

if the boot smelled that bad, his feet must be rank!
Are you kepping this location a secret?
Why did Gavin smell his boot to determine whether it was wet! Lovely video.

Since Gavin moved to opposite side of Canada, Adam and Gavin's channels lost their original sparkling content.

WTF are the socks? On a hike without a second pair? Give us a break...
