    I am learning to be ok with only doing what my body allows. Since practicing daily I'm much more flexible. Hips are especially my weakness. This was very intense and satisfying at the same time. Thanks for your gentle yet challenging practices! Nameste.

    This was the most challenging for me so much so I gave up and moved to 10. I do not know why the double pigeon is so much harder than regular pigeon. I loved the hip emergency video. I will keep that in my frequent practice. Thank you

      Double pigeon is a crazy deep stretch and really triggering (for me too). Just keep opening your hips in other videos and come back to it later. I have a lazy stretches video coming out soon with another hip variation (less intense than double pigeon) that I think you'll like. mwah!

    Brett, I just wanted to tell you that all your videos are fantastic!! I love your style; tips, reminders and focus on breath, including level 1, 2, 3 options. I do my yoga first thing after I get up. One thing I appreciate about Brett's classes is the warm up at the beginning. I am in no way warm enough to go right into double pigeon with no warm up, like this class has. I am on my 5th time through this 18 day challenge and am going to skip this one and try to fit it in after another session, so I can start warm.

    I really love your style of teaching yoga, including beginners and more advanced. Maybe you could do a series for lower back pain or weight loss.. Or how to get into the split. (I sometimes feel quite weird trying to do the standing split with my leg hovering somewhere near to the ground :D)

    040321 Skipped over this one last week. Knees weren’t feelin it. I paired this class today with day 17. Even though my hips are soooo tight, I hope some day to be able to do double pigeon. As it stands at the moment, not only are my knees very far away from my ankles, but the leg that is supposed to be flat on the ground, isn’t. So, a long journey ahead. Thank you. Namaste.

    Your approach is so skilful and lovely as always. It was surprising for me to transition from the more holistic sequences to a one-posture class. I like to get lots of moves and sweat, otherwise I feel like I'm not getting my share of yoga... But perhaps this was the point? :)

    Very nice for me with intermittent hip/sciatica pinching! Question - at the first turn to the knee, did you mean turn to the left? That was confusing because I think you said walk over to the right - I wasn't watching, just listening to cues.

  • @TrineReinOfficial

    Ouch!! That hurt! Also, I wish I would have been a little more warmed up before getting into these challenging poses. Really got to jog my patience this morning, using my breath to hang in there. But I feel good now! I wonder if this is enough to pass for a work out, though? The time I spend on these classes is pretty much the time I have available to work out. Thank you for all these great practices!

      BrettLarkinYoga No worries, I never push myself beyond what my body allows me to. But sometimes these stretches can be challenging, and to be efficient, they can’t always be just comfortable. So far, so good!😊🙏🏼

    Really struggled with this. "a bit of a gap between the legs" in my case was about a foot! I will persevere just to try and get shins parallel with ankle over knee and try and narrow that gap. Then, I'll try the upper body moves. Meanwhile, any suggestions on how to release the stiffness in the knees and hips would be welcome. This looks so interesting and challenging - very motivating.

    Hi Brett, I did the 21 day challenge and now doing this one, I have double jointed knees and can barely cross my legs, (my legs bend the other way easily), I am 39, but it is not age as even at primary school I was forced to cross my legs and sit on the floor which was painful the whole time the pain is in my knee when i sit so the pigeon pose is impossible. I was interested in taking my yoga further and feel like I can't if I cannot possibly achieve this pose, do you recommend anything? Thank you, I really enjoy your classes!

    • @BrettLarkinYoga
      @BrettLarkinYoga  6 років тому

      The pose is never the goal in yoga. That being said, I know that we all have poses we want to achieve! Take your body's limits into account, and never practice a pose that causes you pain. Maybe Baddha Konasana (butterfly pose) is a better alternative than double pigeon for you? You can choose to do which ever pose you please in place of poses that aren't safe for you. That is an advanced practice, honoring your body. Thank you so much for practicing with me!!

    How important is it that the shins are parallel to the mat? I find that as soon as I put one ankle over the opposite knee, the lower shin angles and points my lower foot towards my hip. Is it safe to do this pose with the shin at an angle of 45 degrees to the thigh rather than 90 degrees? Or am I just taking "parallel" too literally?

    • @BrettLarkinYoga
      @BrettLarkinYoga  4 роки тому

      Parallel is very hard for most people, you can even just sit cross legged if that works better for your body!

  • @1ptitsa
    @1ptitsa 5 років тому +1

    One question, the pigeon pose it's difficult for me, there's a really big space in between my knee and ankle, and doing the cross leg position is just to easy and I didn't really feel a stretch. What can I do? Thanks.

    • @BrettLarkinYoga
      @BrettLarkinYoga  5 років тому

      You can place a prop between the ankle and knee! Anything to fill the gap will work, block, pillow, blanket, stuffed toy, anything.

      @BrettLarkinYoga  7 років тому

      Never do anything that hurts your knees. Use modifications to find a version of the pose that feels good for you. Every body is different, and not everybody will be able to do every pose. Sometimes it is the way our bones fit together that prevent us from attaining certain poses (something we go over in my Teacher Training). Hope this helps, and thank you for practicing with me!!
