After a close call due to an island illness, Thurston Howell, III decides to make out a new will and leaves each of the Castaways dreaming of their new found fortunes.
It's nice of Thurston Howell III to give The Skipper 40 acres of downtown Denver, since he got them into this mess. Mrs. Howell really came prepared. Bringing a ton of makeup and perfume with her for a three-hour tour.
Our last name is Howell. Today, after calling a business and stating my name, the man on the other end quipped, "I don't suppose you're any relation to Thurston Howell, are you?" I laughed and told him he was the first this...many people have never heard of Giligan's Island. He admitted he was probably dating himself by asking the question. Then I told him our oldest son's name is Tristan.😆 When naming him, I pondered whether this was too close of a match...didn't want him to suffer teasing from it. I need not have worried. Most youth haven't had the pleasure of watching show, let alone knowing the rich millionaire's names. Case in point: I got blank stares when repeating this story to my teenagers.😳 So I pulled up this video to introduce them to Gilligan's Island and the Howells. 🏝
Donna Tartt describes her character Bunny Corcoran as sounding like Howell in The Secret History… personally I find it hard to imagine anyone younger than 50 sounding like him but well… TV show looks fun (for the 60s)
Saw this show too young to appreciate the acting/chemistry with these two. I just started watching from the pilot (b&w TV sucks) and this is my first observation. That, and episode 2 opens with the Skipper cooking up a giant feast of a breakfast for everyone. Lol they’d be lucky to have drinkable water and a source of fire!
Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? I think so Brain, but if it was only supposed to be a 3 hour tour, why did the Howells bring all of their money?
We love the Howells, through and through. Iconic actors.
Need to get a pair of those glasses that Mr. Howell is wearing. Definitely stylin' in those!!
The Howells were such classy dressers. Good thing they got all those suitcases on the S S Minnow.
Gotta love an unexpected Australia reference in one of the greatest shows ever!
Thanks for presenting this clip of the Howells. I want to see more of them on UA-cam. They were a great team equal to Gilligan and Skipper.
40 acres of downtown Denver is worth more than anything on this list, by a long shot. Such underestimation.
I don't get it
Ur gay
karen.
The Howells were the best, so funny.
I love when he bequeathed his matching set of “Golf Clubs”. One was Pebble Beach if I recall

1:52 I never appreciated how funny Lovie is when I was a kid
The classy Howells. There is a lot of talk about the Ginger and Mary Ann's clothes. The Howells outdid everyone in that department.
Mrs. Howell sure had gorgeous wardrobe and makeup
Yes, Mrs. Howell always took good care of yourself.
I've never seen a group more excited to find out what rewards they get when their dear friends kick the bucket 😆
Damn never thought of that but still a railroad, Diamond mine, oil well, plantation, and 40 acres in downtown Denver like🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑🤑
Old shows are underated the Howells cracke up
Only 40 acres???? Well Skipper, that is 40 acres of downtown Denver. Wonder what that value is today. Wow
love San Anton! @ZoneFighter1

Skipper not one to hold back on ingratitude.

Why was the professor so happy to get the railroad when Thurston admitted to Lovey it was losing money each year???
Good question Kerry. I went back to that scene and sure enough Lovey said the railroad lost money.
The professor is presumably smart enough to turn it around and make it into a profitable business. It's a big opportunity.

He could have repaired trains using coconuts, vines, bamboo etc.
Maybe it came with a lot of land ownership.
john williams music really elevated the show, and hardly a mention.
I don't think John Williams did the music.
@@DavidRay39Gerald Fried = theme; John Williams = incidental music.
Give me the diamond mine any day. Lol
Wow the professor got the railroad and it loses a million dollars a year. He got ripped!!!!!!
He's smart enough to turn it around.
If you’re never getting off that damn island, what’s the point
This show is way funnier than it was ever given credit for. Absurd, of course....but funny still.

Today's "humor" can't even hold a candel stick to the humor of yesteryear.
