  • This is one of our most valuable pieces of kit that rarely makes it into our videos, it's always behind or in between the scenes. Do you use this survival item?

    Here's a tip, I use heat shrink tubing on the cut ends of my rope and paracord. It comes in a variety of sizes, and you can usually find the diameter that meets your needs.

    You’re definitely right about this Gabriel. A good length of rope and a climbing rated carabiner have endless uses. Thanks for the video! When Curry rappelled a few videos back I got inspired and had to get my old last resort / riggers belt out and tie a few knots. Stay safe!

      We were talking about the rope a while back and kind of had a DUH moment at how we've never really shown our ropes. Endless applications indeed! Glad to hear you got inspired, Steve!

    Great video I carry a 20ft length of 1/2" marine rope, and use it quite often. Cheers 🍻🇨🇦

    The rope reminds me of a guy I new from work. He was working on his roof and had a rope tied around the chimney and his waist. He slipped, fell off the roof and hit the ground. The rope was longer than the house was high. He once burned down a house he was renting after electric welding in the kitchen. Many other stories of stupidity of this guy but I guess the moral of the story is, know how long your rope is.

      I know a couple of guys that sound just like him. They're funny in a way, but scary even more so at just how unaware they seem to be.

      @@robertsbushcraft I'm sure there's lots of them in the world. They just bungle their way through life and die young. I usually have a hank of rope in the truck but I don't go heavier than 550 cord camping. Thanks for posting and have a great summer.

    Awesome video and very true aswell. I'm in the Appalachian mountains and love my paracord but without a good heavy line I'd be stuck at every other hill and left to walk around for miles to find a new way up or down 🥵 👍

      I agree and there have been many time I'd have been in a real mess without this short length of rope.

    I always ask this question of someone with rope knowledge : which type of blade do you prefer when cutting rope - serrated or straight ?
    Good video 👍👍👍👍👍

    • @robertsbushcraft
      @robertsbushcraft  2 роки тому +3

      My preference in most cases is the straight edge. I have the Camillus Ti Marlin Spike pocket knife will do all that I need in rope cutting amzn.to/39SACcY

      Straight edge. Serrated makes a very ragged cut.

    Hi Gabriel, great video. I have some 1/4 " Rothco rope in case I need something more than Paracord. That Greenline rope you guys have is nice. Have not seen that at any surplus stores. Maybe it's available where they sell marine (boating) supplies? Thanks for the video. 👍🪢

      Jeff, we picked ours up at a local surplus store before it closed up a couple of years ago. I haven't thought about checking boating supply, but, I know that REI and stores like it have good climbing ropes.
