Yessss one of my friends who plays was like you have to get them before they get big, when I asked is she had done it before she responded with “only in animal crossing” 🤣🤣
Have you ever tried bamboo before? It's really tasty, nutritious, and full of fiber. I gave some of the roots we harvested to my fav sushi spot owners and my neighbor Ami
Love that you go on adventures like this, the shrines, pottery, bamboo hunting, even just walking GusGus over the tracks, shows us Real Japan Also, would totally watch you as a Farmer in Japan....
I've only had bamboo shoots in Asian restaurant food or from a can added to a stir fry. Never had it fresh. Would like to see how it's prepared and cooked and eaten from its natural form.
You introduced me to this and I am addicted. I am on the monthly box and the Sakura box was so far my favorite. There are so many items in each box that I am keeping track of but oh wow, if you haven’t tried this, sign up and give it a shot.
AHHHH I was so excited to see this! I love eating bamboo but honestly I've never really given much thought to where it comes from. Thanks for giving us a look into it, and so happy to see you conversing naturally in Japanese!
Awwww, you guys are so so lucky getting such an earthy experience with nature! I live in Colorado and am liking it but miss everything about Japan including bamboo offerings.
What a cool experience! It looked like you and Linda were having so much fun - and it was awesome hearing you use more Japanese! Thanks for sharing the experience with us 🙏
You and Linda are the coolest duo, really enjoy watching videos that feature her 💓 as an animal crossing fan I never knew how huge irl bamboo shoots are!!
@@heratlas U tooo, luv from Sweden!! Btw, I really wanted to visit Japan when I turned 18 (my birthday was in February) but corona ruined everything. When the pandemic is over, I’m gonna visit Japan as soon as possible!!
This was a great video like always!! I get excited for your videos every time :) it really did make me think of Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon. It's funny how sometimes you associate things with games and TV and really it's just a normal part of culture there!
i saw you pointing to the seed shaped rusty colour dots at the base and i feel like they misunderstood and said the pale part of the base was the most tender - they never said if the dots were edible - did you find out eventually? i am curious!
Your videos always make me want to go and travel around Yamaguchi and just go and visit Iwakuni from Fukuoka ☺️🥰 I love this bamboo experience , I miss living in Sendai because of this. I had friends who took me to these hands on experiences and was so nice to interact with locals directly.
Do you remember me mentioning animal crossing on your Fukuoka video? And now your out here living in your own ac world!! That honestly looks like a really fun activity haha! I Love beeing outside in the nature (i live on the swedish countryside) but i haven't been able to spend so much time on what i want. School have been really stressful with a lot of tests coming up so I basically start study right when I get home until i need to sleep. I have distance school some days and some not. And my school is an hour away so i have to take a one hour bus ride two times a day:) i haven't been able to watch that much youtube either so i haven't been able to been so early but i hope you see this so i can remind you that YOU'RE AMAZING!!
hey i don't know if you have it but i don't see a video on step by step how you categorize your waste and if you do have can you answer me with the link pls
That was cool - too bad we didn’t get to see you prepare it .... from the forest to table. You both need to dirty up your boots some more lol ...btw at 5:21 it says 5mm ... was that cut off a half a cm but you could eat 5 -10 cm above the cut (divide by 2.54 for inches)? .... be a farmer when you retire ... go girl - Gus-Gus will love it
I love the vlogs like this!! Do you pay do to these types of things as experiences or excursions or are you able to just help the farmers?? Great video as always 🙂🙂🙂 x
This video reminded me of the movie from Studio Ghibli, The Tale of the Princess Kaguya. The tiny princess is found inside a bamboo stalk by an old bamboo cutter and his wife :)
So, despite having played Animal Crossing for the past year, I DID NOT TWIG that you’d be digging for bamboo shoots. It’s much easier in Animal Crossing.
I’m a Japanese American born in Hawaii and curious on what it takes to move to Japan. I don’t know much Japanese 🙁 but recently started getting very curious.
I JUST read your message in the Q box!!! I was bout to DM you, LOL! You can eat bamboo in so many ways! I took some home and am going to try to cook it myself (emphasis on *try*)
Get 10% off (save up to $47!) your own authentic Japanese snack box from Bokksu using my link: bit.ly/3gfYMzy and code HERATLAS10
Even though I know your channel is “her atlas,” I read that code and thought “oh okay, her code is ‘heart lasso’” 😂😜
This was such a fun Vlog. It almost looks like the game Animal Crossing when you dig for bamboo shoots. I loved that you used more Japanese.

@@heratlas that’s hilarious 😆

Fun to watch two beautiful foreign ladies trying hard to harvest bamboos😍✨And I like when you count in Japanese😆💕

I was SHOOK! They are so big!

This was so lovely to watch! Very relaxing too, I hope you get to go on more adventures soon :)
That variety gets very big! I've only seen the small slender ones myself. So envious of you.

This video was sooo cool!! Thank you for taking us on such a unique and insightful adventure!! 🎋 🎋 🎋
Such an informative video! Like you, I thought the bamboo we eat came from inside the bamboo trunk. Thank you Caitlin for the info! ❤😊

I loved this vlog so much 💕💕💕

Hi JAzzy!!!
Did you make "takenoko gohan" with the shoots?
