I agree with some comments you're getting from others. Please learn to pause when you are commenting, You looked away many from your screen many times & missed much more of Bird's performance. If you must look away (I understand, Larry's moves can make you do that!), please rewind to the spot when you DID start turning away/closing your eyes so you don't miss a thing, I appreciate your interest in doing further reviews on The Legend. I certainly don't blame you. You will find he has quite a fan base that will improve your followers. I did subscribe to your channel. Good luck to you! Thank you!

Larry Legend is known for being a small forward. NEVER WAS A POINT GUARD. Boston stats has him standing at 6'9" tall. However, players who played against him say he is 6'10". They say Magic is also 6'9" but photos of both together show Larry to be the taller between the two. Larry Legend is the Best All-Around NBA Player EVER. GOAT? Who cares? The GOAT is strictly a "popularity contest," IMO.

Larry Bird played both Power Forward (79-85) and Small Forward (85-92) - he’s mostly known as a Small Forward, though he could also be considered the non-traditional hybrid position Point-Forward.
Larry was listed as being 6’9”, but the general consensus by those who played against him said he was bigger, probably 6’10”.

My Larry Bird story. I was a student at Arizona State. Went to a Phoenix Suns vs Celtics game one night. Larry Bird had just been two years back-to-back League MVP. I arrive an hour and a half before the game. There’s just one player on the floor - Larry Bird. Going to each of something like twenty spots on the floor he planned on being at and shooting from during the game, and shooting shot after shot to get the “feel” of it for that night. I started counting. After more than thirty in a row straight without a miss, I stopped counting.

When you get a chance, go back and watch it again. But this time, don’t look away from the screen or talk when you hear someone in the video talking. Or at least pause when you do. These clips are short and go by quick, so in just a few seconds of having your head turned, you can miss a few of them. And when someone’s commentary is included, they’re usually creating a back drop for that clip or at least there for a good reason. You missed enough that I actually had to comment. On another note, if you were shocked that he trash talked, you’re gonna be blown away when you find out the extent of it. And you will. Despite these critical points of interest, great reaction!

He was getting called "Larry Legend" years before he retired. He started his career as a power forward but switched to small forward during his 5th year. His court vision, hand-eye coordination and passing skills are as good as any I've ever seen. Plus, he could score from anywhere, was a great rebounder and solid defensive player.
Any young players could learn something by watching Larry Bird play.

My man. If you're gonna talk, stop the video. And don't talk over people talking in the video giving you more info and context. With Bird, you blink and you miss it - so if you're gonna stop the video go back like 10-15 seconds to catch all the action properly, do the legend justice! If you are cheesing and burying your face in your hands, go back. You missed a ton of highlights in this video because you was feeling it.
He didn't play the PG role, he was a small forward.
And if you are surprised that Larry was talking shit, you're gonna be truly impressed when you hear the stories for real.
If you wanna see just how dominant this man was, I highly recommend a video titled "Larry Bird Was LEGENDARY During His Prime! 1985-86 Highlights | GOAT SZN". If passing is more your thing, a video titled "Larry Bird Greatest Passer of All Time (Re-edit w/ New Footage)" is full of beautiful dimes.

Bird is the ONLY person to be named Rookie of the Year, Most Valuable Player, Finals MVP, All-Star MVP, Coach of the Year, and Executive of the Year. He has been the best at every level of the game. Not to mention being on the Dream team and winning a gold medal and being named to multiple all pro defense and offensive teams. 1987-1989 only played 6 games with double achillies tendon surgery, and broke his back, In addition to a bad elbow, shattered knuckles on his dominate hand and half a dozen injuries that aren't as well known, "Larry body betrayed him" is what is repeated, what isn't as well known is just how busted up Larry was. Most of Larry's rivals knew he had some injuries, but they had no idea HOW BADLY until they shared a locker room on the Dream Team, they are all, "Damn" and every one of those players have Larry in their personal top 5, That says a awful lot.
LARRY LEGEND TIMELINE to look at the career of NBA’s greatest small forward:
1974 - Larry played high school basketball at Valley High School in French Lick, Indiana.
1975 - Enrolls at Indiana University to play for coach Bobby Knight but quits school after a few weeks and works as a garbage man.
1976 - Enrolls at Indiana State, sitting out the season as a transfer student.
1978 - ISU goes 23-9 and Bird named to All-America first team. Selected 6th overall by the Boston Celtics.
1979 - Bird wins AP player of the year, first-team All-America and led his team to NCAA Championship game.
1980 - Bird named NBA rookie of the year.
1981 - The Celtics wins the NBA championship.
1982 - The Celtics improves his record 63-19, lost Philly in East Finals.
1984 - Bird is MVP and the Finals MVP
1985 - Bird is the MVP again despite nagging elbow injury, leads his team to the NBA Finals.
1986 - Bird is the MVP again, three years in a row, Finals MVP and ’86 Celtics are the arguably the best team ever.
1987 - Celtics advanced to the Finals again but injuries set a blockade to win over Lakers.
1988 - Celtics fails to advance to the finals, losing Pistons in a 6 game series.
1989 & 1990 - Bird plays the first 6 games before deciding to undergo surgery to remove bone spurs in both heels.
1991 - Celtics ended season 56-23 and injured Bird shows some of the flashes of vintage himself.
1992 - Bird misses 37 games, most of them are the second half of the season, play for the Dream Team in the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics and retires from the game of basketball.

I'm 53 and probably watched 75% of Birds games.
Watching this fellow see these highlights for the first time was fun.
It took me back to the first time I saw them, most of them live, and my reaction then was about like his now.

I wish you guys would PAUSE the video when you need to comment because you fail to hear important dialogue about what is going on. Like when he came back from hitting his head on the court the announcer stated that he had a fracture of the right cheekbone. He also had a concussion and double vision but still came back in the game (when the Dr had left the room) and willed his team to victory. I watched that game on TV with my Pop.

He is also the founder of the 50/40/90 club.

Bird was a throwback, a gym rat who perfected his skills in Nowhere Indiana. He was all around, shooting, passing, rebounding, defense. Many triple doubles. A 6" 9" forward who could dribble behind his back. Magic was his west coast counterpart. When they locked horns it was epic. Jordan was different, a great athlete. The first time he played against Boston the Bulls were shit, he WAS the team. He had a leg injury and it wasn't certain that he would play. He did and scored 69 points with his leg heavily taped. Basketball was different then, very physical. When the Celtics fouled you you knew you had been fouled. Now it's "safer". They run with the ball

I got Celtics tickets for my 12th birthday in 1986. Best day ever! Dennis Johnson was point guard, Danny Ainge shooting guard, Bird small forward, McHale power forward and Parrish center. Bill Walton coming off the bench made them unstoppable. His nose was broken for the 12th time during that game. I remember driving by the old Garden during demolition. At one point half of it was gone and you could see right into it, seats and all. That hurt my heart. 😢

lately, in reactions to these mixtapes, everyone talks through all of the stories that the former players are telling to let you know what is going on. you marvel at the shot sure, but you're mind would be blown if you heard the story going WITH that shot or shots. You missed what Doc was saying about the Bird 60 point game. You missed what they were saying about him coming back in that Indiana Pacers Playoff game, which is legendary beyond belief. A few other ones too. I suggest when you have some time you rewatch this again on your own & pay attention to the stories. It will literally blow your mind again. What makes the story about that Indiana game where he came back after fracturing his cheek w/ a concussion, that they don't say in this video, is that the night before that game, he spent the night in the hospital in traction because of his back issue. So after he single-handedly won the game, he went to the hospital to get his fractured cheek cared for & he also spent that night in the hospital in traction for his back.

Career 10 rebounds a game. 3 x league MVP consecutive. 3 consecutive 3pt contest winner founder of 50/40/90 club. Was decimal points away from doing it 4 years straight.
