    Why I'm here?😱🤠
I had a talk with my dad two days ago. I found that my grandfather lived 12 years in the mountains from MONTANA in 1880-1900. I found that he was a shepherd and lived in the mountains with thousands of sheeps.❤
I promied my DAD I will ONE DAY found where he was and go and visit. We are from ROMANIA, UE!❣❣
Thanks a lot for this video! 😍😍

We stayed two nights in Whitefish on our way home to Murfreesboro, TN. We absolutely loved it and would like to come back in the winter to ski (actually snowboard). We were there on a Tuesday, which was farmers market night in the square. Great!

You don't want to ski in Whitefish. The visibility there is awful with 90% cloudy days. Freezing precip on your masks is consistent. Go to Utah or Big Sky. Better snow, and less California influx. And yes, I live in Montana.

Lets talk reality. What this says is true, and there are a lot of other good points about here. But a small house here starts at 325K, rents are off the scale, it has the highest property tax in Montana, the traffic is horrid here in the summer, unless you already have a work from home job that pays well, or have a skilled job in construction, the economic oppourtunities fall way off. The weather can be really iffy, at best. Due to demographic shifts for Covid, there has been a huge increase in population in the Flathead over the last 16 months leaving a lot of stress on existing infrastructure and services. Most of the locals here are really good people, people who have lived here 10, 20 years or more or born here that worked hard to make a good place to live, not necessarily to sell real estate. Just remember, a town isnt just buildings, views and recreational oppourtunities, its people who have made something of it, if you come to live here, remember that when you see nice clean neighborhoods, nice little houses and things being laid back, its not fodder for an ad, it is a community of people that made it that way

Ehhhh nothing here in Montana really reminds me of NC. It isn’t that NC isn’t beautiful, but the mountains here are less “furry” like the ones down south aka covered in brush etc. they’re much taller ranges that appear rugged, with foothills, ranges every where you look...not very similar to NC. I did love black mountain NC though. But there was really just one largish hill I’d say in town. Not at all like the ranges here.

I moved to MT 9 years ago from the Sierra Nevada's because of my family. It's not as great as some people say it is. There's a lot of learning curves. I would move back if I could. The best thing is that the people are nice. But the rest... must have snow tires, must have lots of wood for heat or spend a lot to heat your home. Handling each piece of wood at least 3 times get tiring, and you need so much of it. If you use electric heat and the electricity goes out in the winter your home will probably freeze, pipes burst, which has to be fixed right away no matter how cold it is or how expensive, so the running water in the house doesn't rot the wood. You must have back up ways of heating your home. The winters are long, what sun we do see isn't strong enough to penetrate the atmosphere and make the body produce vitamin D. Must take lots of vitamin D in the winter or the depression is going to be crippling. Each winter I'm here it seems longer and longer no matter how much D I take. The snow starts off charming and quaint, but then it doesn't go away for months, it's just white everywhere, for months. Driving in the snow is scary. Just plain scary, and it takes a long time to get anywhere. If you move here move to a road that has a school bus route, so at least the county has to plow that road. If you don't you have to plow roads yourself or hire someone else to do it, and they may not be able to get there in a timely fashion because they have so many other roads to plow. In the summer it's just brown, everything is brown. It was like this where I came from in California, but at least in the winters there in most places everything was green and pretty. In the summer there's deer everywhere, at first it's so cute and charming, but soon you discover it's very easy to hit one and ruin your car. They dart across the road at any moment, and because of this there are many many deer carcasses along the roads. The job market does suck. To live in MT for most people is to just accept that you're going to be poor, you're going to struggle financially. There's so many little things that you learn the hard way when you move here. This is why the smart people are snow birds, if they can afford it. Also, what good parts there are to Montana are just going to diminish the more people move here. The more populated this area is the more of it's charm it's going to lose. If despite all the hardship here, you like it, inviting more people here isn't going to keep it nice for long. Already it's not as clean and pristine as it used to be.

Kyle Thornberry don’t know. All I hear is there is a race for Montana. Thanks to CoVid People are in such a desperation to be there prices have gone past Jupiter. Don’t know how well the highway 93 is maintained in the last few years. I don’t go there anymore. Waaay too many people in the flat head valley for what it is and running out of places to go. People stacked upon people stacked upon people stacked upon people. Montana was the last best place. Not anymore. I think maybe northern Alaska is now. But the good riding season is end of June to mid September. Everyone else is riding too.

Just a heads up. The CDA area has been changing rapidly, especially the last 5-6 years. Slower paced living compared to bigger cities like Los Angles but far from what it once was not too long ago. Overcrowding, high traffic in summer months, building like crazy, and rapidly increasing housing costs is quickly ruining the area for most of the locals. For example homes built 5-6 years ago that cost around $250k-270k new are selling for $600k-700k today. Homes that were 200k 5 years ago are selling for 300k along with other new homes being built of the same size especially in nearby cities like Post Falls. These aren’t even massive homes and are built on small lots. There is a housing shortage. They can’t build them fast enough and they are sold before the foundation is even poured. Mostly to out of state individuals from California.
To them the increasingly high home prices are still a bargain compared to home prices in California. Unfortunately this keeps driving up prices further and housing becomes unaffordable for most locals even rentals for CDA, Post Falls, Hayden and surrounding area. Wages still aren’t great but are improving to be more in line with Washingtons higher wages. Mostly to avoid losing good employees who leave to work in nearby Washington which Spokane is only 15 minutes away.
The area is still nice, relatively low crime with plenty of camping, fishing, hiking, skiing in the area.

If you’re not white, don’t go to Whitefish. As a lifetime Montanan with ancestral roots here. Whitefish is one of 3 extremely racist towns in Montana. Kalispell and Townsend are the only others more racist. Notice all the ethnicity in his video? Montana is 8% Native American in population out of 1 million. Whitefish is between three of the major reservations. Flathead, Blackfeet and Salish Kootanai. So there’s a huge non white population around them. They hate every one of them and are always in court battles over it as well. Many of the Whitefish residents also refuse to acknowledge or respect native holy grounds and water rights. And are just as rude about hunting privileges to the tribes the chose to reside between. In ugly situation all around up there.
