- Gilben's Bakery located 7405 Stenton ave. Philadelphia, Mount Airy section of Philly specializes not only in baked goods but their sandwiches are a big hit! Each sandwich is made with a fresh garlic bread they make right before they start layering the sandwiches. From fish hoagie, shrimp po boy, philly cheesesteak and chicken salad sandwiches, each sandwich is served with a garlic bread roll. An amazing experience I must say. I was served the shrimp po boy, grilled salmon po boy and the philly cheesesteak. It was truly a game changing experience because of the garlic bread and the amount of flavor in each bite. I highly recommend this place for anyone. Definitely a top 5 place to visit if you love sandwiches, seafood and cheesesteaks!

Local entrepreneurs are the key to a healthy community and economy. Bakers are near and dear to me. My uncle opened up the first Italian bakery in Lancaster, PA in 1929. As far as I know, his grandchildren still operate it.
Lancaster has alot of good local shops and eaterys I live alittle north in Harrisburg
Gilben's Bakery has the BEST food that Philly has to offer... Hands Down. So glad we took the 9 hour drive to try it. ☺️ From the moment we walked through the door, it was nothing but love... thank you Team Gilben's🤗
Had the "larger than Life" Fish and Shrimp PoBoy and the Blueberry cheesecake.
Highly recommend going and trying... Sad that we were not able to stay until Sunday to try the Soul Food.

Gilben’s is the bomb and one of the best places to go in Philly. It also helps that I live in the Mt. Airy area. Depending on the time, be prepared for a wait. The people that own and service you, are very nice. You won’t be disappointed!

@Marcus Wills, Due to Covid, they are taking orders by phone and you have to pay with a credit card. Or, go in the store to just place your order and pay by cash or credit. I’ve mostly been in the evening. However, went about 2 weeks ago during the early afternoon and they were busy, but not ridiculously. I would say afternoon. Hope that helps.

All my life living in this neighborhood I never knew they cooked soul food I always thought it was a regular bakery and im not a fan of sweets so I never tried now im definitely gonna have to give this a try gotta rep my neighborhood and support my people's

@deborah hackley the food at D&H is horrible. I’ve been there twice and I ordered the jerk chicken, oxtail, and curry all were not good. I have Jamaican friends and eat the food all the time and D&H ain’t it. I agree though pls do some restaurants in DE.

This place is legit. One of the best cheesesteaks I have ever had and the Po Boys are amazing. The garlic bread is on point too! I am definitely coming back.

I went there based on your recommendation it was a 2 hour wait because we didn't call ahead first i ordered fried fish and fried shrimp po boy and strawberry shortcake it was fabulous thank you so much i usually complain about waiting not this time it was a hot day the sandwich and desert was absolutely delicious even after it was refrigerated then reheated the next two days next time i come i an ordering shrimp po boy everyrhing was fresh i was disappointed because i wanted pineapple cheesecake they didn't have any i did enjoy what I ordered excellent review love your food i want to try the soul food next thank you j l Jupiter and thank you gilbans bakery I wish they had more sauce on my sandwich that didn't disappoint at all it was so delicious food definitely made with love and care my father even liked it he didn't complain good job gilbans bakery

But…. While I love your content, I HATE your mouth sounds. I’m a lifelong sufferer of misophonia. It’s a common condition in many people, we just can’t cope with mouth sounds associated with eating. I don’t know how you mic or what gear you use for sound recording, but frequently the mic picks up too much mouth and chewing sound and I have to exit the video. I’m curious to know what your retention looks like to see if I’m unique in this area among your viewers.

Because of you, I drove from Sicklerville, NJ to this location. We called ahead a placed our order. I had grilled salmon with grilled shrimp po boy. It was very very tasty. The salmon was a lil dry but good. I would order again. I also ordered shrimp and grits. My mind was thinking about cajun with the gravy but the shrimp were fried and a lil overcooked, but once again very tasty. Grits had a lil too much salt. My daughter loved that cheese steak po boy and my son loved his grilled shrimp po boy. Good job guys. Will be returning.
