Take a virtual voyage through the upcoming Princess and the Frog attraction coming soon to Disneyland and Walt Disney World. This overlay is planned to rethemed Splash Mountain on both the east and west coasts. Follow Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure as they prepare for their first ever Mardi Gras performance. This virtual ride through was built inside Planet Coaster- Console Edition. I am just hoping that they keep the name “Splash Mountain” as that name isn’t associated with Song of The South, and is just TOO ICONIC of a name to replace. Maybe “Splash Mountain: Tiana’s River Run” or something like that.
That’s a great ride name. We agree that the original name is really iconic. Only time will tell when the new ride name will be revealed

Hmm, I'm all for the idea of making Splash Mountain into the Princess and the Frog ride, but I think it would've been better if the ride's story focused more on Tiana than Louis the Alligator. Like maybe the ride's new plot can be something like Tiana accidentally loses something special in the bayou and she and Naveen search through the whole bayou to find the item. Or Tiana and Naveen have their honeymoon throughout the whole bayou and meet up with their friends along the way. How about it?
I think that’s a cool idea. I was surprised at the lack of other animatronics besides Louis. I was especially shocked that there wasn’t a Tiana animatronic in it.

I am really excited that this ride will become "Princess and the Frog" themed since there is basically no representation of this movie in the parks. Although, I will miss the brer rabbit storyline of the ride.
Kinda sucks that it has to be another hand me down attraction tho.

I love princess tiana and her having a ride is long overdue. I wonder how naveen is gonna look. With me being a black woman of native American descent (my grandparents were native) Pochantus and Tiana always had a special place in my heart. (Especially since I live in the South) Watching princess and the frog aswell as ratatouille made me realize that cooking was my passion. And now I want to become a pastry chef and own my own cafe. Tiana is really an inspiration.

We are sure the attraction in the end will be fantastic after the change. Plus, it's still going to be the same ride layout. Just different theme.

We are excited for the new version as well. Luckily, as of now there is no closing date yet for Disneyland's version of the ride so there is still time to experience it before it closes for good.

I will miss splash mountain but I do think this is a welcome and nice change. I also think the actual version would blow us away. This is a pretty cool idea! I've seen a lot of people use games to recreate rides but seeing a game used to visualize something this has yet to be built is neat. In any case, I'm super pumped for this retheme. The music alone is going to make it a blast!

This is a pretty nice representation of the beauty the retirement could be although I’ll miss og Splash
The biggest disappointment to me is that none of the scenes were based on New Orleans. I have high hopes for the retheming, as I think princess and the frog is pretty good. But I think New Orleans would such a cool area to visit in the ride.
This isn’t the final cut of the ride so I’m sure it’ll end up a lot nicer. Disney wouldn’t take away a beloved classic and replace it with something that we wouldn’t all enjoy.
My daughter is gonna FREAK out over this. I always play princess and the front for her. Tiana is an amazing role model.

I hope they re-purpose as many of the animatronics as they can, in the scenes they'd work (like frogs and some re-skins for bayou scene parts+dig a little deeper). I love the use of Friends on the Other side right before the drop!

The only thing I like about this new overlay is that those two creepy vultures who taunt you before you drop aren't there. I don't like those two. But I do like Dr. Facilier. He's one of my favorite Disney villains. I'm glad he'll replace those two ugly birds.
As a lifetime fan of Song of the South and Splash Mountain, I did like the vultures myself but I agree that they WERE very out of place in the ride, as they really had no place in Song of the South either.
I wish they gave this ride more story as the other princesses have.

Do not get rid of Splash Mountain. More people want it to stay as is then the Mere small few majority who seek to want it destroyed. Disneyland will need the money after the Covid- 19 pandemic for being closed soo long with no guest, It will be a huge financial cost loss harm towards both parks. Guests will be appalled by this decision who love Splash Mountain. People love Splash Mountain SOOO MUCH MORE .....THOUGH ... People more though love the Splash Mountain Ride So Much for it being so much fun. Splash Mountain is apart of The Rivers of America! That fits perfectly with the scene of Frontierland and is what is known as Critter Country. (There isn't anything Racial on Splash Mountain!! It's just the happily cute animals singing happy songs and "zippity Doo Dahh" !! It's just the animatronic animals!! Splash Mountain is a nostalgic , Classic , Iconic Mountain. That's one of the 3 Iconic mountains of Disneyland. Brer Rabbit , Brer Fox, Brer Bear, are Iconic characters as ""well beloved, memorable"" by moree people then the small majority that want it gone. Disney needs to listen to all the fans who want the Iconic Disney Ride to Stay as is..
We understand that splash Mountain is an iconic attraction and one of the major mountains at Disneyland. Besides, once the parks reopen, there will be plenty of time to ride it since they haven't announced a closing date for it yet. Most likely, they are waiting until the right time to do so once they have saved up enough to change it. All we can do is believe in the Imagineers and hope that the Princess and the Frog will be an amazing ride. It happened before with Tower of Terror, Maelstrom, and California Screamin' and it will happens once again.
@@TheLostBoysGirls Yeahhh but those rides Guardians of the Galaxy, Frozen, The Popularity Died Down a lot on numbers over the years to be honest on those new changes made to Maelstrom and Tower of Terror. .. I noticed when I was there in Person in September 2019 for Mickey's not so scary Halloween . People were in swarming big lines full.. waiting time was a long time wait just to ride Slash Mountain in 2019)) They didn't seem to bothered by the ride I heard screaming and laughter as people went down the huge drop . I had a LONGGG waiting time to ride it ...and that was 2019.. I didn't see anyone bothered by Splash Mountain then ... When I do go to California's Disneyland I don't see any one saying anything about it. They just want it gone right now because people have nothing more to do because of covid- 19 they want this ride to go because there are people that are at home mostly these people of 200 who made the petition people who like to spread disturbance and stir up things were bored so they did the petition for Princess and Frog ride. If they had Work , dates, friends , movie theaters, Theme parks, Disneyland, Unlocked cities , people would be having stuff to do. I don't believe this would be going down. If we weren't in this Pandemic.

This was my favorite movie as a kid, I rode splash mountain for the first time this summer, it’s a good ride I know everyone is sad to see it go and I’m pretty sad as well but I’m more happy than sad, this is just what happens in the theme park industry, stuff gets re-themed, stuff gets removed. Every since this was a punched I’ve been excited. I can see how hard you worked on this, I know some people won’t appreciate this but I sure do.

I'm wondering how they're going to re-purpose all those Splash Mountain animatronics.
For me, it's hard to see splash mountain go. I remember the characters used on the ride from a previous attraction called America sings which I was lucky enough to have seen in my early childhood. I was at Disneyland for the grand opening of Splash Mountain and it has remained one of my all-time favorite rides. At least it will be the same track and some of the design features will remain. Such as the riverboat at the end (also part of America sings). As Walt always told us, Disneyland will never be completed. On with the show.
Yeah this is totally going to fit in with thunder mountain, country bares and the rest of the old west town in frontier land. This is definitely going to fit in in critter country at Disney land but at Disney world… come on Disney

I think this will be a wonderful new theme! The ride was desperately in need of a revamp. It looked ancient and tired.
I really hope they add more decorations in the actual ride. Telling the story of princess and the frog bc it seems a little boring. But I saw someone in the comments say “splash mountain: tianas river run” which would be such a good name
I only got to go to Disney world once so far because of my boyfriend, we went to Epcot, but he talked about how much he loved splash island and now I'll never be able to ride the specific one he always talked about :(

Excellent video, this made my day! Princess and the Frog has always been my favorite Disney film. Tiana is such an inspiring character and role model; it makes me beyond happy that she's finally getting her time in the spotlight. As a Black girl, seeing her on the big screen was a dream come true, and watching this brought that feeling back all over again. Though I loved Splash Mountain, losing it at Disneyland doesn't bother me, as its problematic source material will always be connected to the ride. Walt himself wanted his parks to change with the times, and it's magical that Disney chose to honor his wishes with PATF of all films. It's a fresh and progressive step (representation, yay!) and my favorite IP retheme to date.

True. I’m sure they are going to replace Tom Sawyer Island soon. It was always closed when we went for renovations and now I have a feeling that it will be shut down completely. 😿. It would have been fun to do the paintbrush challenge. If you found a paintbrush and brought it too the part attendant you received a fast pass for either SM of HM. Sad sigh.

I really like what you have going here! The tunes you chose (especially down in New Orleans) has a similar vibe to Zip-a-dee-doo-da so there isn't a harsh change from before. Having the majority of the ride have a bayou theme also keeps the original ride's vibe. I like that you chose 'friends from the other side' for the climax, however, I heard from someone else (cannot remember their account name) recommended that during the climb the part of that song should be 'are ya ready? are ya-- reaaadyyyy?' which would be so exciting! I also love the fireflies you added! I hope Disney incorporates that and all of the other aspects you had as well. For the fireflies, I hope that in the real ride, they would be something like the stars in the Peter Pan ride (floating about and surrounding the audience).

They should just build a new ride for Tiana. What they’re doing is inherently uncreative. They can’t even come up with a new attraction idea for her.
Well maybe for Disney World but Disneyland is known to not to have a lot of free space left for new rides. So, the way they can do so is to re-theme an existing attraction. Plus, Song of the South, though gave us an Academy Award winning song, was met with controversy when it was first released. Even till this day, Disney refuses to re-release it even for DisneyPlus. Instead, they chose to retheme the ride to a story that many more people are familiar with and is more inspiring for new generations. We have seen Song of the South before. Does it have its problem? Yes, but it also has its good moments. We just personally side more with Princess and the Frog on this one. Splash Mountain will be missed, but we are sure that Princess and the Frog will be a very suiting replacement.
@@HauntinMatthew1969 Well, we have seen both films, and to be honest, Princess and the Frog is more recognizable and profitable for the company, especially since Song of the South is not planning to be added on DisneyPlus anytime soon. Also, changes in attractions have happened before like Tower of Terror to Guardians of the Galaxy and Maelstrom to Frozen Ever After. It usually goes through a cycle. Once first announced, the majority would dislike the idea. Then after riding it, the majority leans to accept the change move on. This situation with Splash Mountain is no different. Besides, Walt would always want he parks to grow and evolve and keep moving forward.
@@TheLostBoysGirls With that mentality space mountain, matterhorn, etc. should be replaced with recognizable IPs. They tried that with Hyperspace Mountain and people demanded the original Space Mountain to return.

As a non-American, I don't get the controversy over the splash mountain. I think it is a shame it had to go. But American politics and history it is.
But this ride is pretty cool too. One thing this new ride missed one thing! The shadow man!!!! He could have chased people down or something for the suspense!!
Imagine if they can recreate where mama wed the prince and the princess!!! Oh and Evangeline!!!! And let Louis to have a kick solo
