As a past attractions cast member, she did exactly what she was supposed to do and trained to say. She could've gotten fired if she said something different. But it's absolutely insane that that's the protocol when something like that is happening like what!!!
Back in 2008, my granddad and I got stuck on Disney World's Splash Mountain for 40 minutes at the bottom of the lift up to the main drop. I've experienced countless ride breakdowns (my family jokes that it's my talent) but this was one of the scariest moments of my childhood. We were almost at the bottom of the lift up to the main drop and they seemed hesitant to fully shut down the ride and walk us off. The ride stopped and started 2-3 times, moving us even closer to the hill. They turned on the lights after a few minutes but kept the animatronics and audio running, with the clip about staying seated until it's fixed playing every couple of minutes. The three vultures just kept cackling "Everybody's got a laughing place. Maybe this one is yours." Thanks to my overactive imagination, eleven-year-old me was utterly terrified that the ride might work just long enough for our log to reach the top of the hill and trap us right before we went over the edge--or worse, get stuck during the drop itself. Finally, they started unloading passengers. They started with the log that had already started up the hill and unloaded two logs before the ride jolted and moved us forward two positions. This made us the next flume poised to start the left by the time we were finally unloaded. We then walked all the way back to the beginning of the ride past all the moving and speaking animatronics, which felt even more impossibly huge up close. It took me several years to try Splash Mountain again, and even then I couldn't enjoy my old favorite ride. Fifteen years later, I can viscerally remember how scared I felt sitting underneath those vultures. Even as an adult I feel a bit of fear when I think about riding Splash Mountain.
Would you ever consider making a mini series with animatronic fails specifically from defunct Disney rides? It’d be a great blast from the past and I’m sure some people still have their old recordings!
I honestly don’t have any submissions of malfunctions from past defunct rides (other than Splash now) but I love the idea! If I get submissions I would love to do a defunct ride malfunction video!
With my arrival to UA-cam in June 2010, Ibwstched several Disney World videos and now here we are in 2023 and I still can't believe what's changed at the Disney Parks!
I get that procedure's a thing for safety reasons, but when the procedure puts folks more at risk than if they took steps to save themselves, you can't expect folks not to put their wellbeing first. (My first thought was what if there were young kids in that log who would be mostly submerged, what does she expect them to do, just hold their breath?)
Disney could probably have one day or a whole week or something where all the rides are just a walkthrough with all the animatronics still on, for maybe an extra price bump or something to even it out. I think that almost all of us would love that. :)
If memory serves me right, an animatronic's head gets swiveled around like that goose when pins come loose. I think it's gradual. With each head turn it goes just a little bit more until it's facing the wrong way, hitting the pin on the other side of the neck and it can't swivel back around. There's a video of a chuck e cheese show where chuck's head was spinning wildly, the comments sections are very helpful for animatronic lovers who aren't exactly robotics engineers like my casual self.
I’m interested to see how they might repurpose some, if not all, of the animatronics. I’m not sure if a few of the critters will find their way into the new Tiana themed ride, but that would definitely be a cool Easter egg!
That’s fantastic and I think the people of splash mountain will certainly love that malfunction video for the attractions last appearance before closing it down

Me and my brother went in line after to ride it again and after about 15 minutes they announced that the ride was having technical difficulties and eventually all of us in line had to leave and they never reopened for the rest of the night. Of course later on I read online that one of the logs sank again so it made sense 😂😂. But we still had fun and went directly to Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and got to ride it during the fireworks. I’m just happy we got to ride Splash Mountain for the last time literally like 30 minutes before a log started sinking and they had to shut it down 🙏🏾. I’m glad everyone in that log was ok cause that looks pretty concerning and I’m sure that it was scary judging by that video.
I know a lot of people (in the south) are very mad that they’re redoing splash mountain but I wonder if the main reason they’re redoing it is because of how old these animatronics are and how much they’re breaking down. Like it was a round table and they were giving ideas and the Princess and the Frog was the best fitting.

Normally my sister would sit in front of me; but she let me take the front seat during our trip back in April. Thanks to our log being full with 5 large size adults, it was wall after wall after wall after wall of water in that front seat (even on the smallest drops). I was completely drenched as soon as we got off and could have sworn that the water was going full blast at 9:00 AM (remember- this was back in April and it was still cold enough that you could still wear pants and Spirit Jerseys all day and be fine). After we got off, we went to Dok-Ondar's Den of Antiquities over in Galaxy's Edge to get me a new R2-D2 shirt (maybe Splash Mountain was trying to punish me for wearing a Stormtrooper Spirit Jersey 😂).
