Hi Chris, still going ok. Not sure I would have enough of an update for a video but will give an update in the next detailing video I do. How about that for a compromise?
I recently bought a resin vessel filter. But I seem to have a problem perhaps you can help me. I connected from my outdoor tap to the vessel where it says 'IN' and a hose shower where it says 'OUT'. I turned on the water, waited some time to ensure the vessel fills up with water, eventually press on the shower hose but no water comes out. I turned off the tap and pull out the hose from the tap to the vessel and pressured water shot right out. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.
I've been using the same size vessel and TDS metre for the past 2 years, it makes washing/detailing the car so much easier. Martin the PPM reading you got of 17 is not very good, mine goes from 280ish to 0 and was told when reading creeps above 20 the resin needs changing, how true that is I don't know, mine stays below 5 for months. Some suppliers use either low quality resin or mix new resin with old resin. The resin I use is Tulsion MB-115, iirc it cost me £80 for 25ltr bag from eBay.
Ok so its official, I'm a plonker. I measured the output of the vessel at the end of the hose instead of directly out of the vessel. Re measured this morning and had a reading of 0ppm. However at 17ppm no water marks👍
Hi Martin. That s what I want to use in my mobile detailing set up with car wash fed by a 200 lt water tank gravity system (no electric pump planned if not necessary). Do you think the water outflaw from the tank for the final rinse with deionized water can be affected from the passage through the filter or not?
Hi Domenico, I have no definitive answer Im afraid but I don't see why that wouldn't work provided the output from the tank isn't constrictive. If your system works without a filter then I would expect it to work with. I would think a filter is a must for a professional as you will work in all conditions so best try it before investing in a pump. I wish I could give you a better answer but I don't want to give you crap info as I have not tried it from a gravity tank only mains sorry mate but I would be really interested in what you do and how it performs
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer thank you soooo much for your reply and suggestions. To tell the truth i m just planning everything. Still have to try my gravity fed system that will work in my old Alfa sw not ready. And consider this: I DON T EVEN HAVE A GARAGE and i live in a condo in Milan, so double-triple issues to solve. First idea: i feed the tank in the car with a garden hose from my flat cause i m at first floor: quite realistic and i take the filter in my flat saving more space in the car. Second idea was regarding my question: filter in a second ouflow from the tank for final rinse after pressure wash.... First idea the best even cause I HAVE TO FILL THE TANK ANYWAY SOMEWHERE 🤣
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer ...and for sure i don t want a pump if the gravity fed works: simpler, cleaner, no one-more thing to feed with electricity, more space, hoses, etc. The real big issue: be indipendent for electricity too as for water or not. But depends how deeply i will go in what is just an hobby for the moment. What do you think about this, considering your experience and professionality?
Hi Martin. Glad your happy with the water softener. I agree with the comments about tds levels, was fully expecting yours to be zero, checked mine this morning Tap water was 140ppm filtered was still zero so yes ask suppliers some questions.👍

@@ObsessiveCarDetailer nice one! I think I now need to do a test... does my karcher or hose pipe use more water per minute, would be useful to know the difference considering cost of resin. You should do the test on your channel 👍
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer just tested, my karcher k4 does 6.4ltr/min, Hose with nothing attached does 13.3 ltr/min Hose with gun set on shower does 9.3ltrs/min. As I expected the karcher uses less, didn't expect such a massive difference. Guess I will be using the di vessel through karcher in future. Resin should last twice as long. Going to order that hose you got from Gleem along with a gun. Hose on k4 is awfull its it's the reason I dont like using it.👍
The most interesting part of this video is that you had to wait for your Blue BMW X to dry. My Black X3 bakes dry in seconds at the mere sight of sunlight. Air temperature can be cold and still does it. In the shade though, no amount of hand drying actually dries the bugger. Never buying another black car! Also, watched a similar test with a thin Raceglaze filter and that consistently got 0.0 ppm btw. 17 is good. 0 is incredible.
I later realised that the reason for 17ppm was I run it through my hose and that still had hard water in. When testing direct from the filter it registers 0ppm

Hello Gareth, are they worth the money ? Great question and only you can answer that mate. However for me, on a warm day I tear around the car always looking out for water marks but with this unit I can just take a little longer and work at my own pace. Not sure how much they are now but my unit cost just under £100 but you also need the water tester so you know when to change the resin. Am I glad I bought it, too true I am. If you are an enthusiast then you will find this a very handy tool. Any help?????
This is crazy I was just looking at these last week but I didn’t know the resin lasted this long I thought it only lasted about 8 weeks using twice weekly but now I’ve just had a thought they prob washed there full car with it and not just rinsed so do buy 1 or just use fse 🤔
I guess it comes down to time spent. FSE does a great job, never let me down but the thought of not having to rush around appeals to me. What really winds me up is no matter how much I blow water away from my wing mirror, it always drips down the side when Im not looking and out comes the FSE. Don't care now🤣
I was going to ask you Martin what do you think about magic clay sponges do you think they're all just gimmick and can ruin your paint work overtime or just standard clay bar better??
I don't use clay as I find them awkward and if you drop them they have to go into the bin. I always use a Nanoskin Autoscrub. You can get them from Motorgeek for £8:99. If you drop them you just rinse them out & easier to hold. I prefer them to a hand mitt as you tend to put pressure with the tips of your fingers and leave more marks

I've seen several comments mentioning water 'softeners'. I'm sure most people know what we are refering to but it is not soft water as from a domestic water softener, it is pure water. Water from domestic water softeners contains lots of sodium (having replaced the calcium which makes the scale) and is quite corrosive, never use it on a car. Happy cleaning folks.

Hi Ricky, Yep still happy with the unit. I don't use it all the time just when I need to. So the resin is lasting. Check out the following video on feeding a pressure washer. It will depend on the washer you have as they very in water throughput but its fine with my little K2. Having said that I do tend to use it mostly through a hose but the down side of a garden hose is any filtered water left in the hose is waisted. I bought mine direct from Vyair who were very helpful but I see County Detailing now sell them so worth checking for the best deal. You will love it, no more rushing around trying to dry the car before the dreaded water spots, make the whole process so much more enjoyable. @@p8rdm I think it all depends on the weather and how much soap you have on the car Ricky. I tend to just rinse with the filtered water in hot weather before drying. Cool tip. I'm thinking of getting a bigger water softener system, primarily to avoid limescale and water spots inside the house, so the Mrs would love me even more :) Also would add then an extra pipe and fitting for the garden hose, so I would benefit of it too. However that is a completely different price range :( You should get better foam also by using the soft water with the foam lance. In the US, some recommend to use the water filtration system of RVs to do the same(ish). Another idea I kept in mind to be more price cautious is a rain water collector with filters, as the rain water should be soft too, the filter should get rid of the dirt and it would be a sort of recycling/saving of the drink water.

Good to get advice from Someone who uses this type of kit on a professional basis. Thank you
I had a Raceglaze cylinder for some years. I find it is much easier to fill a watering can and use that as it saves water and the resin lasts much longer. My Raceglaze 7lt with Telsion resin will last almost 18 months doing two cars every week or so. The TDS meter is an essential to check the water. Your reading should be zero on the TDS.
Yep it is zero, when i first checked it was through the hose that had standing water in. I later checked it directly from the filter and it was 0
You may also want to strap the cylinder to a wall as they are unstable especially when you’re yanking a hose.
I think you use less water by still going through the pressure washer for the final rinse but you cant get the water to sheet of like with a hose.
I guess you could connect the washer if you wanted to Andy. I will see how I get on with it
@@ObsessiveCarDetailer I run mine the pressure washer it is fine and it does use less water.
@@patrickvennard838 I have the 7Lt Race Glaze and do the final rinse with the pressure washer.
Love the shirt Martin. Water softeners are great. You’ll love the results.
My levels are normally 320 then goes down go 0. 17 seems high, normally that’s the refill point.
Sunny outside, sunny inside. I normally keep it for the beach but can't see me making it this year😎. I have been looking for a softer for a while but couldn't find one that I could justify the running cost so fingers crossed I have now👍.
@@pk4k60 I’m no expert but it sounds like you have an issue with the out hose. Has it a connector on the end that has a safety????
I've been using the same size vessel and TDS metre for the past 2 years, it makes washing/detailing the car so much easier. Martin the PPM reading you got of 17 is not very good, mine goes from 280ish to 0 and was told when reading creeps above 20 the resin needs changing, how true that is I don't know, mine stays below 5 for months. Some suppliers use either low quality resin or mix new resin with old resin. The resin I use is Tulsion MB-115, iirc it cost me £80 for 25ltr bag from eBay.
good info, thank you. I will follow up on it 👍

Hi where do you buy your resin from for the bottle
@@RichardBowker-x4y eBay. Not bought any for ages so bet price has increased.
Big big difference not only for money....... Needs a 5000w power inverter generator i suppose. My answer is: yes you need to be indipendent in electricity too. But depends how deeply i will go in what is just an hobby for the moment. What do you think about this, considering your experience and professionality?

Good evening Robert, I only tend to use it in warm weather to prevent water marks. Really pleased I have it, another tool to make things easier. Would defiantly buy it again, I guess its all about how serious a person takes in cleaning the car
Very important point Phil, thanks for highlighting it👍
Hi Martin,, can you run it through a pressure washer when doing your final rinse ?
Hi Roger, a few of my subscriber say they do so don't see why not as long as the filter can supply the water demand of the washer. It will also make a difference to foam using it that way👍

@@ObsessiveCarDetailer that’s picked up in the hose and will lower after it’s run through some more.. 23 years ago when I was 15, I used to work for Delta cleaning in Wokingham, they had one of the first pure water window cleaning systems installed in their van.. I remember it needing 5 or 6 cylinders to purify the water for the system and when they tested it we got 5ppm out the hose.. the company owner used to wash his Mercedes off with it and clearly had a 200iq... if you get a spray nozzle, soft brush head, on a pole, you have a simple Pure water window cleaning solution and can cancel your window cleaner.

Good ideas both with the foam & rain water
