Julia was 16 in 1983 and Penn was 22 and he starred in Bad Boys that year. Julia's older brother Eric Roberts starred in Star 80 that year also. I have to assume she was in New York and invited to whatever actor's parties because of her brother who was also nominated for an Oscar in 1985. Julia's first IMDB credit is for the TV show "Crime Story" in 1987 followed by the movie roles in Satisfaction and Mystic Pizza in 1988 along with a TV role in Miami Vice (!).

I remember meeting Eric roberts at the hospital when his friend was in there..i got his autograph lol
That would be a fascinating story to hear! My first exposure to him as to who he was as an actor was when I too young to watch the movie, Star 81. Think I was around 10 or 11 when I saw it. Guess he did too good of a job that from than on out, I have a weird phobia of Eric Roberts. Doesn't totally stop me watching his movies but the sight of him brings me right back to when I was a kid. I know he plays several villainous types but I've seen him play good guys, too. It doesn't matter. If I saw him in public, today, I'd probably freeze in terror. What's amusing is I had seen alot of horror films before watching Star81 & you'd think something like The Omen or The Exorcist would have me cowering. Those movies had a totally opposite effect. I thought they were too over the top & almost hokey. Nah-Eric Roberts is legitimately my boogie man and I'm considered middle aged, now 😂

There are a lot of sus comments here regarding women, age and their looks. Captain Obvious asked me to write this.
How one looks as they age definitely depends on their lifestyle *and* (primarily) the roll of genetic dice. I've met people in their 30s who look like they're in their 70s and people in their late 60s who look 40. No exaggeration.
My Dad looked young until he hit his early 60s - and then it's like age caught up with him within a matter of months... but I believe some of that was actually secondary to a health issue.
Also, many people, especially celebrities, especially female celebrities, have a little help. Ironically, as they age, this "help" often turns against them. It's also hard to tell with actors and models, as, if you ever saw them outside of the finished product, even at an early age, they often look nothing like their screen or print counterpart.
