2022...almost 2023. Heard this for the first time in 2003. I was in high school. Almost 20 years later and lots of life experience behind behind me, this song hits close to home. Now I'm 33 and a doctor who has traveled all over the world.
I always dedicate this song to my friends lost but not forgotten. 2nd Marine Division, HQ Co, G6- OIF III Ramadi Iraq, I'll never forget you dear friends who didn't come home. Rest in peace brothers and sisters.
The bridge gets me in knots...every single time I hear it. It has since '03, and it still does today. There has always been something so profound and sincere about the Bouncing Souls music that captures the essence of humanity, triumph and tragedy alike. Don't know if there's a better song written about the inevitability of time passing and having to move on.
The thing that always gets me about this video and that part of the song specifically is that it features some of the most crucial people in the Souls history like Kate and Johnny X, who’ve been there since the beginning and stuck by the band’s side through all the ups and downs.
Hearing this song again in 2023 man it's like going back to 2003 it's still a great song remember seeing their music video on The Punk Show Muchmusic canada oh man what a time capsule 😊
People just need to realize that the bouncing souls have been together for a little over 20 years and their music keeps getting better and better. This song and true believers give me goosebumps every time I hear them. now THAT is what music is supposed to do.
And our troubles, we can't leave them behind But the wind blows, and blows them all away And the road goes...and takes them all away ...back into our dreams. >> “So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past. ...” (Scott Fitzgerald)
"Anchors Aweigh" Anchors Aweigh my friends, I'll see you another day I'm going away, experiences have to come and the past has got to go back into our dreams back into our dreams Anchors Aweigh my friends Everybody understands that good times, that good times they come and they go and together we will always flow back into our dreams back into our dreams And our troubles, we can't leave them behind but the wind blows, and blows them all away and the road goes... and takes them all away ..back into our dreams
@Lehnhardt16 thats punk rock! its about the love of the music, you don't need a song that runs on forever to get your point across. The three s short, sweet, and simple.
go to ocean grove yearly, right next to asbury park where this was filmed. this song is creepy and yet rejuvenating when this video is with it. Have missed too many shows at the stone pony when I go down there... punk schmunk, don't worry about a music typecast, listen to what pulls your attention.
I think of this song every time I changed schools. Elementary to Jr. High, High, now to college, where I'll probably just get a bullshit degree and spend the rest of my life paying off student loans.
yep, but this song is part of our dreams now and will be forever man, so who cares it's not top of the charts... ''...we will always flow back into our dreams'' don't u think so??
next friday at 12, im getting my first tattoo, its an anchor smashing through a galleon with the lyrics greg sings during the bridge first punk song i ever heard and its hard for me to put into words how moved i was. hell i even got a white les paul custom just because i wanted to be more like pete
@138MacGyver It's been like that since I was 15 and came onto the scene. After 10 years of hearing about what's punk and what's not, I'm glad I never cared too much in the first place.
really? Cuz in my GCSE music book it says "Punk is a generally aggressive style of anarchic rock with its roots in the working class music scene of England in the early 70's that stylistically exploits the use of power chords, palm muted riffs, and 'shouted' vocals"
Why wouldn't you want great bands like The Bouncing Souls to get so popular they appeared on MTV? Cause that would make sense, to like bands for their music, not because of who listens to the music.
This has got to be one of the best songs ever written. It's amazing how songs like this come and go and garbage like Brittney Spears is top of the charts.

In the same way, I'm 45 years old who started listening in 2003, but I'm still listening to it. This song is the best.
I always dedicate this song to my friends lost but not forgotten. 2nd Marine Division, HQ Co, G6- OIF III Ramadi Iraq, I'll never forget you dear friends who didn't come home. Rest in peace brothers and sisters.

Agree!
The thing that always gets me about this video and that part of the song specifically is that it features some of the most crucial people in the Souls history like Kate and Johnny X, who’ve been there since the beginning and stuck by the band’s side through all the ups and downs.
Sincere!
Thank God these music videos aren't lost
This song just gets better every time I listen, which is a lot. 2 mins and 18 secs of pure musical genius. Bass and drums are perfect.
This is one of the best and most powerful songs ive ever heard. Unbelievable lyrics

People just need to realize that the bouncing souls have been together for a little over 20 years and their music keeps getting better and better. This song and true believers give me goosebumps every time I hear them. now THAT is what music is supposed to do.

I was born with a filter that prevents me from hearing shitty music. So I can never tell if there is a bad song playing or my speakers are broken.

I saw them tonight, great fucking show.
mexico city 3003 is a lyric in a song by the black lips. i don't know how to spell it out any clearer than i already am.
Still one of the best bands on the planet
it's a line from a song by the black lips.
The ad keeps freezing and it won't load the video.
@pinetone000 thats some deep shit man lol brought a tear to my eye
@138MacGyver It's been like that since I was 15 and came onto the scene. After 10 years of hearing about what's punk and what's not, I'm glad I never cared too much in the first place.

HOT WATER MUSIC Over 9000
First punk band i ever liked then it was green day then it was hardcore/Oi punk.
why do all the good punk songs have to be short?
are they from asbury park nj?
lmfao hahahahhaha
really? Cuz in my GCSE music book it says "Punk is a generally aggressive style of anarchic rock with its roots in the working class music scene of England in the early 70's that stylistically exploits the use of power chords, palm muted riffs, and 'shouted' vocals"
ArseLoad0fMetal666 stfu
@Lehnhardt16 Most punk thrives on being easy to play and being short. It makes you appreciate what it is.
Asbury Park, Baby!! The only place you can see a good band play on the bowling lanes!
It looks like a scene off of Cyborg.
@chony93 then can I be punk playing Metal or any other music style?
@TheBmpuppets yes thank you, that's what I'm talkin bout! :)
@Lehnhardt16 So you can play them over,and over again : )
that hurts josh...
Is that Dave Hause from The Loved Ones at 1:53?
90% sure that's him.
the true meaning of punk is like the true meaning of christmas, nobody gives a fuck.
@nicholas2570 What song is that from?
hell yea saw them two days ago and i'm still thinking about how badasz it was
yes. yes it is. you murdered it by spelling it with an x
lol i completely agree
@theundone1 true
He looks like Danzig slimmed out here
good song .. because some of you say new punk sucks .. take a look at the descendents .. they make good old AND new punk
This video was downloaded from Limewire I guarantee it.
R.I.P. Asbury Lanes sign
It's a Jersey Thing
Punk is a social movement, not a music genre, there are no bands that play punk, but there are bands that are punk.
Huh ?
@wadesmith8624 I don't know, man. Punk is a music genre, a group of genres, actually. I don't know what the fuck I was thinking back then.
@madmick17 I know right. Nothing's better.
ANKOH EH-WEH MAH FWEND! AH SEA U A-NADA DEYYYY! AH GO IN 2 DA WEEEEHHH ESPERIEN ES JUSS A FEEE!
Best lyrics ever amirite
if this were on MTV there would just be more girls at shows who get pissed when they get stepped on or punched in the face
BEKINTOOOOOOUUUUDRRRRIIIIIIIEEEEEEEMZ
@theundone1 .... yeah, what do i know,right? i've been listen to Greenday since 5th grade so i'm pretty sure they're Pop-Punk
But it's just me
@theundone1 Uhh, yea they are
@Lehnhardt16 because good punk songs are short; I know, it's conundrum...
@susuplaysguitar getting drunk on the side of the road is always punk... at least when i do it
Why wouldn't you want great bands like The Bouncing Souls to get so popular they appeared on MTV? Cause that would make sense, to like bands for their music, not because of who listens to the music.
@138MacGyver LOL.
why is basshunter in related videos? that's an odd one
Go Navy! lol (Ik this has nothing to do with the Navy, but it does say "Anchors away")
ahuevo ke si
This has got to be one of the best songs ever written. It's amazing how songs like this come and go and garbage like Brittney Spears is top of the charts.
I had to laugh at the fucking irony with the top 2 rated posts.
@osirum Yep, but usually that never happens o.O
