Did you guys know that as a teenager, Dime was actually banned from guitar competitions because he gave the other contestants no chance of winning? I reckon that's fucking cool.
00:24 when you see Dime hitting hard notes eyes closed in the mood for five seconds, you just know it's just not one of the best solos of 1996, but one of the best solos ever in metal. Those were the moments he lived and breathed for. The amount of skill is overwhelming. Damn!
Not complicated ? Dude you can get all the skill, speed and accuracy but there's one thing most guitar player don't get that is the "touch" it is what creates the real tone.
YES! Those early competition videos where it was him just blindly shredding with no pace, rhythm, key, nothing, were IMO awful. It's the type of stuff I do when I play because I really don't have any real talent right now. I'll just play fast but it sounds awful. THIS, on the other hand, is an absolute work of art. Like, if museums had videos, this would be the Mona Lisa.
@@CHlEFFIN not complicated whatsoever? Even if you concede that note-by-note and speed, yeah, it doesn't contain any particularly fast playing or any overly complicated parts. BUT... playing 0:02 to 0:32 with all the harmonics and not missing a note, it can be pretty gruelling on the hand if you don't happen to have long fingers or cramp easily. After that, it becomes a more traditional solo that just involves memorizing the tabs/notes. That's where I get caught up sometimes. I'll just forget what's next. Then to jump to the outro which again has that every third fret, up and down, over and over on some of the widest frets. Even when you move up to the higher end and do the delay sound by double picking, it can get pretty hand crampy.

The greatest Solo of all time in rock history. And so is his Cemetery gates solo too. Rip Dimebag Darrell Abbott a true guitar Legend. In 2004 I was at school that morning and everyone was sad including myself all was shocked the day we heard that Darrell Abbott died. Very sad. There will never be another guitar player like this not even close.
There are a lot of good European players, but there's something they ALL lack, and that's soul. None of them can make a guitar talk. Darrells slow solos sound better than anything a European player ever put out. The electric guitar was invented and perfected in the USA, not eurpoe.
