Good work Dave :)
Perhaps the question was "laser cut a gemstone"? Many fancy cuts on the market appear to be laser cuts . . that would be MY questions, not draw a smiley face on a flat cab :( Could you take simple cut stone and re-facet the bottom (if it's laying on it's face)
Amazing
have you tried laser etching obsidian ? been looking all over the web and cant even find someone who tried.
Did you describe what equipment and software you used? I have lots of jade and some very intricate designs that I want to laser onto the slabs. In other words, I am starting from scratch learning how to cut my designs with a laser. Thanks.
Any Trotec laser systems using any design software
Beautiful, but can it cut out a cabochon out of a stone slab?
You can't cut stone or cut anything out of stone with a co2 laser. You would probably need a waterjet machine for that :)
Is the lasering in real time or has it been speed up in editing?
Most examples are sped up to 3 times the normal speed for this video
What power laser are you using and have you tried petrified wood?
80 watt laser was used
Have you tried engraving on something like a garnet?
Great video.
Hello, very curious if you could do real opal, and synthetic opal types ( several different synthetic types on alabba site from China.
Your machine is awesome.
That's definitely one to try!
How is the result with the crystal sand stones? These stones are in all chinies shop and are Heart shape in any colours
have you ever tried lazering Obsidian disks? if you havent could u try it ? and if you have what was the best method u found for them?
Obsidian is just a natural form of glass and can be laser-processed like any glass.
If I send you an image, can you tell me if the best way to reproduce the image is carving, engraving, or laser or which route to pursue? The material is onyx stone with a shallow engraving, probably no more than 0.5mm below surface into the stone but no contrast whitening in the image as seems to be left behind in the onyx in this video. I really need your help if you can provide an email address. Thanks in advance.
can you try it on jasper bowl
Jasper Stone can be laser processed, and the response will engrave white like most stones.
How about pearl?
amazing video, could you please let me know if you think laser carving would work on Aqeeq stone?
Hi! All natural stone can be engraved, producing a greyish/white-looking engraving including Aqeeq stone.
@@TrotecLaser thank you for the reply!!
Proxy? Uv kind
What type of laser machine do you use? Please give me link to buy that
Hello! Dave used a Speedy 360 for this video. You can learn more about those models here: bit.ly/2XF3pJ0 😄
I am attempting to laser engrave on Jade (NZ) and it bubbles (is raised). I have it on glass settings. Is this too low? What would make it bubble? I have a 30w laser engraver
Hey Teresa! We have not attempted Jade with the laser. Our advice is to try many different laser settings; most stone/gemstones are not like glass and requires much less laser power. With a 30-watt laser, run it at 100% power, 50% speed, 1000Hz, and 500 DPI, then based on the effect, run additional tests and only increase or decrease the speed setting until the desired results are achieved. Please note that on some materials, the lasering process may not work at all.
how about precious gems
It really depends on the gem; testing is advised.
How deep can you engrave with the laser machines?
The laser machines I have seen can cut through 12mm acrylic
What does 45power mean? 45Watt?
This is the percentage of power on the machine, so in this example, 45% of 80 watts.
how much does the machine cost?
Our laser machines' costs can vary depending on size and performance; however, they start around $10,000 and up, depending on the speed and size of the machines. Please feel free to reach out to your local office for more information. www.troteclaser.com/en-us/contact/contact
Dave how about dominoes Can I engrave them.
This will depend on what they are made from. The odds are that it will work for ceramic or stone, but it may be difficult with some plastics to get contrast.
i have 50w raycus laser marking machine , can it be use
Hello Khurram - Is this a CO2 or a Fiber Laser source?
@@TrotecLaser it is 50w fiber laser sir
@@k3g1397 Gemstone marking requires the Co2 laser wavelength, so it doesn't sound like your current system is compatible with this application - I hope this answers your question!
@@TrotecLaser thank you
