A fascinating tutorial and quite a delicate matter. This is probably cool for people celebrating Easter. I'll tell you though, what's UBER useful is that I totally didn't know is that Trotec can adjust the Z- Axis on the fly. Wow...now that's a feature worth covering on it's own. Thanks for the share.
Good video :) Can you try to engrave already colored egg? I color them with spray paint (dedicated to use on cars) and engrave after that, it works good :)
Hi have you tried on candle? Here you use wax which inspires me about candle, but I think it would be very hard to engrave on candle wax surface since it melt down so easy.
The egg engraving and cutting was great. What is the trick to getting the design to match on the round object? Have not had success in getting to align when meets.
Hello! This process is done by using the red dot pointer to align the graphic to the egg and using the manual focus tool to make sure that the focus is averaged for consistent results, this is also a process that requires some trial-and-error testing with a higher failure rate to find the best setup.
@@TrotecLaser Thanks for the quick reply! I guess my wording was bad. The graphic design matched great after completing the engraving around the egg, even on the curved surface to the ends of the egg. How do you get the design to match the egg shape so the pattern matches when the engraving returns to the starting point? Even on a cylinder I find it hard to get the pattern to match where it meets after engraving. Is it just trial and error? Can take lots of items of exactly the same size to get it right.
@@fredkoch9466 Sorry about that! The best way to achieve that would be to measure the circumference of the object. In the case of the eggs, we measured the middle, top, and bottom and referenced those measurments in our design.
I had a goose egg cut with the head of a golden retriever on it. It got knocked off a shelf and broke. Can you design an egg with the head of Golden Retriever?
We make laser machines; we do not do laser work, but with a laser, this is possible. If you would like some work done, let us know, and we can get you in touch with a local customer.
@@TrotecLaser thanks a lot. Do you need to stretch the design to fit the egg shape? Not sure whether the machine could do it automatically. And I’m very curious about whether it could work on preserved flower pedals. The material is very delicate, have seen other people done the test on leaves.
Does laser give a heat to eggshell? When I carved white eggshell with too many rotations (using Dremel drill and dentist's drill bits) it got burn and that why it became brown color as yours :) "Turning to white" - it's just deeper in the eggshel, carved without heat.
The laser is pure heat energy, and the side effect of heat will cause most organic material to darken; if the heat effect is undesirable, then mechanical methods of cutting and engraving will not produce this issue.
Hey David, Great Job! Who would have thought???? I've got to try this. Question, Where can I get the templet for the stands you put the eggs on? And how did you get the yoke out of the egg?
Hello! Here is the template for the egg stands: www.dropbox.com/s/wm1pa2of0ojuxm5/Egg%20holder%20file.pdf?dl=0 We actually ordered the empty eggshells off of Etsy! www.etsy.com/listing/598831751/30-egg-shells-large-blown-chicken-egg?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=eggs+shells&ref=sr_gallery-1-23&organic_search_click=1&frs=1
There's a thing called a One hole egg blower but you can also find versions with a small hand pump that you use instead (much easier to use) but if you're only doing a few of these, then definitely just buy them pre-blown.
Awesome work 👍👍👍👍
Wow! These look amazing!
As someone who makes psyanky and has a laser, this is quite intriguing. Not sure I'll ever try it but if I do, I'd probably stick with a Dremel.

Eggshell masters have Easter all year :D
Great. Now that I saw this, have to give it a try. Love my Trotec……
Love these videos! Can you try Nori Wraps, 3D Doritos, Pool Noodle, Eye Shadow, Car Headlights, bar of soap?
Dave, you are a genius!
Thank you!
I'd Like to see you try and make a decorative design on the pocket of a pair of blue jeans.
Have you tried laser on dried flower pedals or original cotton? Both are very delicate.
Love the videos. Can't wait to have my own Trotec laser. Can you you engrave on a birthday cake? 🥳🤔🤔
Great suggestion!

We have tried wax and found it not a suitable laser material; it melts quickly, leaving little to no mark when processed with a laser.

Maybe best for October, but can you carve a jack-o-lantern on a small pumpkin?
I engraved a large pumpkin on my laser last Halloween. It came out great.

Amazing job! What’s the machine type BTW?
We ran this on our Speedy 360 80-watt CO2 laser!

What is the maximum surface coverage of an egg that can be lasered?

Something else occurred to me after watching your vid. Have you guys tried boiling an egg then trying it?
AMAZING Video. Can you cut a beard with Laser ?
