- Since March 2020, the FBI has conducted over 46 million firearm background checks. The National Shooting Sports Foundation found that firearm purchases by Black Americans increased by any other race, up by 56%, but Black gun store ownership remains rare.

Always good to see more good people with guns. I just wish the instructor would not stand in front of the students while their barrels are aimed in his direction(ALL guns are always loaded)

Oh good, so my instincts were right. I've never owned a gun and haven't held or fired one in 30 years, but that made me extremely uncomfortable.

Excellent! I open carry frequently and it is definitely a liberating and humbling experience. My wife and I both feel much safer when we're out.
I'm a white man and a conservative republican and I believe that African Americans have a God given right to bear arms for the defence of themselves and everyone around them when they are threatened with terrible harm.
For home defense. I don't think unless you're a hunter, that anyone should be carrying a firearm in a public domain. Realistically people in densely populated areas, cities, communes don't need firearms because of disposure to police.

It is relative to me sense I live in the United States, I'm African American, and the context regarding Black gun ownership is relative to me. So you can just roll over. I live in a town home and can have the police dispatched within less than 2 minutes. If you live in an unsavory enviornment then just move, or just speak for yourself.

What is “disposer” to police? I looked up disposer I didn’t see it applicable to what police do. If you ever served you know what “police call” is. It’s to pick up after others.
Pretty much what police do after a crime. Pick up parts of the mess and maybe try to solve a crime.
The police are minutes away from helping you in the city.
If you are having a break in would you rather have a telephone first or a firearm.

Lol. Did they expect all black entrepreneurs to just risk it all opening gun stores? Not only would it be difficult to get supply because of covid but you would have to advertise like crazy because it's a new store. Give it time and you will see growth if the trend continues.

Great News! Grew up in a household with @ least 2 guns. Father was a WW2 vet. Home was safe.
Same here, Father was a Sgt. in a US Army Combat Engineer Battalion in WW2.

Only, they need to train with that firearm and learn how to handle it safely.

I don't think there is any reason unless you are a hunter or part of a military or law enforcement entity that it should be allowed to have an assault rifle or anything that isn't a pistol or hunting rifle. Also, those rights should be relegated to people in secluded areas. The second amendment was only sanctioned to keep the standing army of British regulars at bay. The revolution is LONG Over. We have practically a militarized police state in every major city and we're not being oppressed by any foreign entity aside from China. The only thing we have to worry about as Americans is the value of the US Dollar abroad. Why do we need 40% of homeowners (Most of whom are in large dense cities) to have immediate access to firearms?

I am a gun owner and currently open carry until I get my concealed carry permit. I recommend that everyone owns a gun and get training on using that gun.
I must disagree due to the fact that some people simply have no temperament for gun use just like some should never drive a car or fly a kite either!

Why is the government tracking firearms sales among black Americans? WHY?

Specifically, there are 51,438 gun retailers There are a total of 129,817 gun dealers in the country, which include retail stores (51,438), "collectors" (61,562), pawn shops (7,356), and importers and manufacturers. they did not do much resarch i just googled how many gun shops are in us
Most or those are sports and outdoors store they are franchises. Not private own MA and PA shops.

I agree. But unfortunately many banks and others won't give black entrepreneurs the time of day and refuse them the loans to fund their projects.

I'm a black man who has lost count of the # of pistols I have purchased since April 2022. I grew up around guns, and was an armorer in the Army. I made my first purchase in April 2022, got my conceal carry license, and have not had any issues purchasing firearms online or in person. I carry all the time except at work, and I go to the range once or twice a week.

As much as I'd like for all Americans to be treated equally and for all races to be treated equally, we're still not there and many Americans suffer for their skin color. Race has a lot to do with the issue of gun ownership, because as black people, Asians, Hispanics, etc., become a bigger percentage of the gun-owning population, they become empowered to protect their lives, the lives of their families, and their rights.
You can insist that race has nothing to do with it all you want, but until you're willing to consider what the other side is saying and mature emotionally and mentally, you will remain ignorant. Your point of view isn't the only at play, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you will grow as a person.

These guns are dangerous for a country. They dont offer security but rather show how insecure people feel. The country should seek alternative values.
When our police officers are murdering civilians every day, we can't rely on them for help and need to be able to protect ourselves. Unfortunately violent crimes will always exist in society. We can't call the police for help. Since the criminals generally have guns, the only way to be safe is to also have a gun. It's a self-perpetuating problem and I don't know whether there is a solution.

Yea some of us realize the cons of integration. Which would be that we rely to much on others outside of our communities and race( which goes hand in hand because of how segregated neighborhoods/communities are still for the most part) for education, security, politics, and basic necessities. Mfs just trying to stick together and get a solid foundation going for our selves.
