  • Seiko PADI Monster “SBDC057” needed a crystal update. So a Crystsltimes CT020 low single domed blue AR coated sapphire crystal was fitted. I think it turned out perfectly and has now removed the candy bar date magnifier for good.

What a transformation! I couldn't agree more with your comment that the candy bar magnifier distracted from the dial - something I had never noticed until you pointed it out. Very educational and informative. Thanks!

Awesome video. I've never seen a watch taken apart. Talk about having the right parts to do the job!

It’s nerve racking doing this from behind the camera, but I just had to share the experience. It’s awesome when you can do it for yourself.

Great work Mike. I'm also not a fan of candy bar cyclops thingys either. Love the blue tints now and the quality of the sapphire is clear to see over the previous hardlex.

Thanks Ian. Crystaltimes, are my go to for sapphire crystals. Very high quality parts and always very helpful if you need to ask them any questions.

Love it thanks. Wish it came with no blue AR coating personally

You can choose “clear AR coating” Brian, I did that for my PADI Turtle mod. Check the vid out if you like, here’s the link for your convenience. ua-cam.com/video/32-tEy_gzK8/v-deo.htmlsi=-qOdRkwcecLl907C

That's cool man, I just bought the dark blue penguin model and already managed to scratch the crystal so will be looking to upgrade to a sapphire at some point.

It’s well worth the investment Mark. Definitely go for it.

Nicely done! I'm about to do the same thing with my SRPH75 with the same CT020 crystal. According to their site, this is a double-dome low profile crystal, not a single dome. In your video there is no distortion on the dial at low angles, which makes me think it is a double-dome.

I definitely ordered and purchased the double domed “low” sapphire crystal with clear AR coating👍🏾

@@desire68frogman98 Well, just tried this with my SRPH75, which is the same gen Monster as the PADI you had. Couldn't get crystal seated right, damaged the chapter ring too. Time to call a pro.

@@desire68frogman98 I couldn't get the crystal seated straight. It kept slipping and tilting. Crystal slipped and pressed against the chapter ring messing it up. Think I have a crappy press.

Use a rubber ball to remove the case back.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve tried the rubber ball and I just couldn’t get along with it. It didn’t work for me. What I’ve found that works flawlessly for me it to place the watch head in to the watch vice and then use the two prong case back removal tool. Works like a charm every time. Cheers👍🏾

I love that watch minus the black face if thats what it’s called. Is there a way to mod it to a blueish one to go along with the other blue colors?

    • @desire68frogman98
      @desire68frogman98  6 місяців тому +1

I’m sure a “modified” blue dial exists. The blue coated AR Sapphire crystal, gives the dial a nice occasional blue appearance.

@@danieltaylor1494 Oohh, that’s a lot to ship for you man. You sure it wouldn’t be easier to have someone in the US do it for you. I don’t mind but that’s gonna cost by the time you figure in the cost of the crystal plus shipping the watch to me in Canada. Let’s talk. DM me on Instagram desire68_youtube so we can talk.
