The main issue with the open world is that there are not many landmarks or memorable locations, and the enjoyment of exploration solely comes from finding new pokemons in the different areas. This could be simply fixed with more locals with unique music that accompanies them. If they also took inspiration from how pokemon interact with their environments in pokemon snap the game would also feel more alive than static.
This was my thought as well. Stuff like Snowpoint Temple and three lakes were memorable because they were actually land marks, and more so. They did *try* on certain areas (spirtombs little keystone and rameas island or howeveryou spell it) but they didn't quite stick out enough
They need to make it more like breath of the wild in the way that the map is made.
Basically this game with more landmarks would be perfection to me
@@thatpersonsmusic what about voice actors
@@nogapres3007 well, I guess there are several things that would be needed to make it perfect, but my personal biggest improvement would be more monuments.
It's interesting to me how when I was a kid getting into games I saw it as this overworldy skill to develop them, not one that I had any concept of the technicalities of making them. But when you said about unity stock assets it made me realise how over the years game development has been bought down to earth through indie developers that now these big developers can easily be exposed when they're being lazy.

Exactly my thoughts seen college students level of work and sometimes it looks better than what Gamefreak delivers if not similar
One thing I don't see most talking about is the Merit Point system. Yes, getting points is quite tedious. On another note, I REALLY appeciate the fact that they made it so that you can evolve "trade-evolution" pokemon on your own.
Literally can just give whichever pokemon a specific item that's needed to evolve them and you can evolve them right on the spot.
I’ve been farming them bc I’m not even familiar with all the new Pokémon. I came back for this tho lol. I love it even though I agree with 99% of what Charlie was criticizing.
Even better, is that MP isn't even needed. While it does speed up the process, any and all evo items can be obtained in various ways through gameplay, so it's nice to both have a way to farm AND speed up that farm, and you don't have to do much other than your normal stuff to find satchels.
Thank you gamefreak, for solving something you made by design
I never even worried about revolving them because you’d find the next evolution in the next area lmao
Yea the self trade evolve is such a good quality o life thing, the trade evo were the only thing keeping me from completing the pokedex in the past game
I would absolutely love if this got turned into a series. Each legends game improving on the next
I'm pretty sure this WILL be the new games.
The remakes will be the "classic" releases now. That makes the most sense.
They can count on the same fans and young kids being into the remakes, and go after new fans and adults who don't play every pokemon game with legends. Where they can take risk.
@@ImTheMan0fSteel Nah, they still need to consider vcg, and while the new battle system is fun for single player, multi-player would suffer with it. Some things I see carrying over is seamless overworld battles and the catching in the over world, but I can't see the mainstream games abandoning everything else.
@@ImTheMan0fSteel Yeah, like we get legends for unova and kalos with remakes for those region’s games to go along with it, with added content if you have play data like how you can get Shaymin if you played sword and shield and darkrai if you played bdsp
Now we got Celebi
Legends: Victini boutta be a masterpiece.
I hope this is the start of a new era of Pokemon games, Game Freak finally tried somehting different and imo it was more fun than I expected it to be

For real. I am only at about 60% completion of the pokédex, and I am having quite a blast!
Pokémon kinda sucks ua-cam.com/video/9Z4hr5IuFcQ/v-deo.html
A fair assessment. I can only hope that Game Freak continues to experiment and expand on this style. Knowing their usual style of "one step forward, 10 steps back", I wouldn't be surprised if this was a one off series.

Same here, they have a solid concept here and would be really interesting if they could expand on its foundation moving forward. But I wouldn't give them the benefit of the doubt if they reverted back to their standard formula

It's genuinely interesting to hear genuine complaints about the research system. I really enjoyed it. Though I did really take my time.
Same, I agree with what he said that it can be improved upon though. I did wonder how gamers who liked to do speed runs would do with the research aspect of it
It becomes a chore in the late game, I enjoyed it for the most part, but some research feels a bit too grind for me
@@zamzam9602 Yeah... I think I got to a point where it's a bit meh. I ve been trying to fill out the complete entry for garchomp and it rakes ages
i agree, i had no problems with the research system until postgame, to be honest i hardly even noticed it existed until i completed the main story, the only problem i have now is it is way too slow to level up when you have no new areas to see, but if they adjust thay one complaint, then thats how the Pokedex should be in every future game, in my opinion atleast
@@zamzam9602 i mean unless you want to max it out it is grindy but i got to 6 stars with just exploring the world and not even looking at the little checkmark tasks
I liked the concept of the sidequests as the side quest NPCs grow over time and they have the pokemon you give them
But the side quests go from "can you do this important thing for me, and build this house", to "hey can you wipe my ass? It too hard for me"
Ain't that just BoTW tho
The later side quests are harder tho?
Despite its flaws, this is the most fun ive had with a pokemon game in years. Im constantly getting destracted by side missions, exploring new areas, challenging the alphas. For the first time since like gen 3 im actually trying to catch em all. Good fun, hope they pursue this style of pokemon games.
I fall asleep everytime I play. The fetch quests are so boring and all the areas look the same which just a reskin
Same. I am rank 5 already but haven't finished the main story yet because I keep getting distracted by side quests and exploration.
Some people don't like this type of game, but many of us really love this sort of gameplay style!
As a self identified "completionist", I am loving taking my time with the pokedex! I try to get the regions finished before I get too far to the next, the game does have you go back and forth a lot on the main missions tho
I managed to binge the main storyline in a single weekend, and now I’m trying to find shines lol, gameplay is so good, despite the other flaws
@@arock3041 me too only thing is by doing this my whole team is like 15-20 levels over the area Im supposed to be in the story so it kind of makes it a cake walk

Okami (if we’re talking about the game for Wii) was and still is a beautiful game. They remastered it recently and it looks just as gorgeous as it did when I played it the first time, though the combat system was way better when I played it on the Xbox over the Wii lol
I personally do really enjoy the specific tasks in the Pokédex. You don't even need to do all the tasks to reach lvl 10 and "complete" a page, but it does give a new challenge to 100% the game. I'll certainly go for a 100% completed dex and do all the tasks after I complete the story
Plus it gives players a reason to actually complete the Pokedex unlike previous games

It is true that this game is like the first time they've ever deviated from the mainline game standard but this is barebones af and not worth $60 at all, I have my doubts of them continuning in this direction in future games, knowing pokemon's track record they will go back on any improvements they made with this game in the next game for no apparent reason, but we will see what they do.
It says a lot that you still enjoyed the overall experience, even with all of its shortcomings. I hope they're learning a lot from this. I feel like the next one will either be very different and awesome, or we'll get some regress back into the same dull stuff.

One of the things that I've noticed is that there is a level of difficulty when fighting some pokemons. Level difference in the endgame is not that noticeable since even weaker pokemon can kill you if they were able to hit you. I'm not sure if it's completely a good thing because there would be a change in meta if this kind of stats changes are put in a competitive game.

yea idk if this one was ''polished'' lol
The game feels very static with how Pokémon interact with their environment at most parts and the visual rendering is kind of hard to look at sometimes with really weird overexposure, but this game has been really fun and interactive. Definitely a good start for an open world type game :) honestly really good control and functions though, this is a great review
im happy that this game is actually different and fun. it has the potential to be an excellent base for some truly amazing games, if they continue to improve this formula.
I hate that what people are calling it a “base of a game” when it’s being sold for $60. I mean I just got a switch and have been dying to play Pokémon and got the latest one. I’m having a blast so far but yea the story is really dull and it is bland, but nonetheless this could have so much more potential if they had put more effort and time into it. I got breath of the wild as well and can’t wait to play it
I remember when I was a child, I talked about how I really wish pokemon was open world. Minecraft scratched that scratch for me. But seeing the possibility that this actually really happens all these years later really makes me happy.
Pixelmon has come an extremely long way, even with game freak spending more time trying to stop pixelmon developers than they spend trying to make their own games.
Personally I would love if they expanded on the environment by making it more interactable with pokemon, kind of like Hidden Moves but better
they did
There are plenty of trees and rocks to check with your pokemon along with mushrooms and honey to pick up off the ground. A few rocks that can be destroyed, but if they added too much people would have complained about that as well with the game feeling slow for no reason
Yeah like I love that my Pokémon can grab berries and rocks for me but like there should be some more variety💀
You can’t convince me that my tiny Bidoof can break this gigantic rock that lets me get in this cave.
@@justinbsi0 I was thinking if they leaned more into the open world exploration genre where you needed a certain Pokémon or move to get into an area
@@rafapenguin4443 and relive more HM slave Pokémon runs? No thanks
I personally find the research system my favorite part of the game. To me, I considered it the main gameplay, especially on top of the new stealth catching system. I’ve barely gotten past the 1st territory and into the 2nd territory, and I’m already research level 7 and way over leveled for the area.
Same here. It feels very rewarding to complete pokédex entries to gain stars so i can catch every Alpha pokémon.
I will say though, despite all of its shortcomings, I have fun playing Pokemon Legends. That's something I've missed out on with almost all of the pokemon games I've played. I started playing Sapphire as a young kid having stupid fun. Then I really got into Diamond and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then every game since has had an enjoyable aspect or two, but as a whole I wasn't having anywhere near as much fun as I remember my first pokemon games. I myself haven’t been so involved in a Pokémon game since they released mega evolutions, I love the take they took to really show us a different direction they could go, I just wish they would put more time into it.

I love watching Charlie's videos for this exact reason. He says something that i might not necessarily agree with (for example I'd prefer no voice acting in a Pokémon game) but he conveys his opinion as just that, an opinion. He critiques the game with what is and isn't bad and then recommends things rather than demanding them. Good review of a Great game

I actually kind of like the research system. Makes every pokemon feel like a new challenge instead of just battle/catch.
Yeah made me want to interact with every Pokémon I see and switch between wanting to catch them sneakily or if I want to beat them all to death
@Kadita Jupe Begone, BOT
Whether you like that part or not, people need to consider that this is the very first PokeDex, so all those “tasks” for each species are crucial since at that point on time, nobody really knew much about the Pokemon aside from their names. I do agree though that I disliked being forced to be at a certain rank to progress in the story.
This was the one point I disagreed with Charlie on. The map was bland and empty to what I had expected, but I loved the research system itself. Made me want to interact with each and every Pokémon and try new things. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

almost 80% of that revenue does not go to game freak and most of thier profits come from merchandise. I hear you, and i agree they could stand to put more effort in. But when people bring up that money thing to me im always like, but bro the developers are not getting the billions. Pokemon has like 500 areas where they turn a profit, games are not even close to the biggest.
@@aidanmoran582 but from a storytelling perspective. If not for the anime and the games, how will the franchise stay alive in the long run? The ingredients of an immersive story are out there. It's not rocket science. So what is the company doing? That is what keeps me confused.
The executives take in that profit of course. Why spend anymore on a series that already makes millions from doing the same thing over and over and fans will eat it up even if they complain. Honestly pokemon moving to Switch has shown how complacent GF has gotten with the series and how inexperienced they are outside of the DS/3ds hardware. Legends is a good step forward for them though and I hope that this isn't just a one off experiment.
This is how I feel too. People are giving them so much leeway as if gamefreak is a little indie startup and not, you know, one of the most successful games companies on the planet. I don't think there's any excuse to charge £50 for something that looks this unfinished

My thoughts are that overall, I really hope they continue to build on this style, there is so much potential here, and I hope that they understand just how much interest there is for a pokemon game like this rather than just the traditional formula
IMO this is the first time since playing Ruby and Sapphire that I was actually excited to play. It could definitely have a more interesting map, but the mechanics are there! Super excited for this to be built off from moving forward.

The weirdest thing about the story to me was that the writers seemed to bake in a ton of artificial conflicts that never really resolve between characters as though their only purpose was to signal "we're not afraid of more mature and sophisticated conflicts now."
I really wish they would have explored the ethics of putting Pokemon in pokeballs deeper. Or like, the VALID conflict of "Hey, Avalugg hasn't done shit to anyone... Why do we need to pelt it into submission with balms?"
The answer to every problem seemed to be "well, this guy who fell from the sky seems to know what's up, so whatever he's into, I guess."
Have you done the post game
which has a lot of story and is like as long as the main game
To be fair with Avalugg although the game doesn’t let you say it my argument was “it’s not that it HAS done anything, it’s that it COULD do something. Stop it now before it CAN do something bad. ESPECIALLY with its size.” I felt the same with Arcanine, technically we could just leave it on Firespit, but it’s still suffering and it COULD cause trouble if it somehow got across the water, and the other nobles started to rampage, what was stopping Avalugg? I feel like that plot point only existed so it could set up some weird dilemma of “are we the good guys?” And it failed miserably because anyone with half a brain stem could easily counter the wardens arguments.
@@internetguy7319 IT DOES?
One of the things I love about the side quests I'd that they affect the village. If you give an npc a pokemon they will have it with them for the rest of the game, you can upgrade shops and do a lot of other things that improve the Village. It's pretty cool.
Its funnier when you give them shiny varients.lol

Realy? Damn that's actually pretty cool. Not many games have this. I hope they keep the feature.
Agree with basically everything you’ve said. At the end of the day tho, I’ve had so much fun with it. I’ll be flying on my bird, watching while mountains literally spawn into existence and then adjust themselves graphically like 25 times the closer I get, it literally looks like the game is still being made as I’m playing it. When I stop and think about it, it’s atrocious.
But it doesn’t even bother me. I love it and I have been having a blast playing it.
Honestly this sums it up perfectly. Sincerely hope they flesh this concept out because the potential is definitely there.
I was agreeing with Charlie until he said it looked like stock unity assets. Like wow, you're giving gamefreak too much credit there. I've seen unity assets that look better than this whole game

I'm glad Pokémon is expanding though! We need so much more of this!! We need more ways to play the mainline games, we need the ranger series back, and more Mystery Dungeon! I've loved Pokémon since gen 1 and still enjoy the series, but I'd love for them to add so much more to the series!
There are slight variations in how wild Pokémon interact, like Sudowoodo posing as a tree was pretty hilarious, and how wurmple kinda walks up to you curiously is cute. Most of them just chase and throw the same abilities at you, would be neat if there were more personalities among them and between them, and to see how they interact with each other. I’m sure we’ll see some expansion on this in a sequel.
I'm really looking forward to them expanding on this idea and using it to make actually great games
I think Pokémon needs to stop focusing on releasing games literally every year and just take more time to develop games. The freeroam is what they should keep, details and better scenery, bigger maps and better graphics overall is what they need to work on
The problem is Pokemon isn't allowed to delay nor have long year gaps with their games/gens. Apparently if the games slow down then the rest of the merch slow down as well. Cards toys anime manga you name it and if that happens, I don't know what will go wrong? A generation will just last longer. It's just that Pokemon company is ridden by greed and what wins for them is quantity rather than quality.
Pokemon is just too big of a franchise for their own good. They've got the ideas, but Gamefreak is both too incompetent as developers and refuses to hire more people. If they don't make a new game every year, merch, anime and tcg (which make waaay more money than the games themselves) have to slow down as well. Which is something the Pokemon Company doesn't want because it loses them money, despite being the literal biggest media franchise on the planet.
@Bersa Jihana Penguinz brother addressing him ua-cam.com/video/ItQaQAkjH4c/v-deo.html
Game Freak will never stop showing their incompetence.
I finally got the game last week and I’ve been avoiding videos about the game. Very late to this noisy meter, but I overall enjoyed this game a lot compared to the last ones they made. I did enjoy the battling changes and made the final battle a lot more challenging (if you do not over level your team of course).
Thank you for this moist meter and love your content. Great video
Honestly, I love this game and I hope they keep moving forward and building with this. I feel out of love with the past 3 or so Pokémon games.
Honestly the research system doesn’t have to be so tedious if you play it right. You only need 10 points to complete a pokemon’s entry’s so if you do the most efficient tasks that whole system wouldn’t take that long. I find it enjoyable as it’s something else to do in the game and the rewards are worth it.
I agree, it is actually very easy to complete the tasks for most of the pokemons, a lot of them that are focused on catching generally spawn in a decent sized pack, the pokemons that are more focused on battle you can just catch and battle with it to complete the dex. This has been the first game that I've actually been swapping my team constantly, using and training new pokemon that I otherwise wouldn't of done.
@@ChickenPle The removal of EVs is a huge burden off my shoulders and encourages me to switch out my team, since I wouldn't be starting a new pokemon at a disadvantage for not having ground out EVs throughout the game. I think the system could use some limits before it goes PVP, such as only allowing X total Effort Levels, requiring you to distribute them stargetically like EVs, but I am so down with eliminating IVs and EVs for something less tedious.
Yeah thats what I did and I made it to third star in no time. You really just have to do the ones that are worth a lot. Or if you dont want to put thought into it then just kill like ten of a specific Pokémon and you're good
Thanks for being honest and not acting like it's a 10 out of 10. I watch my nephew play and it looks to easy it's like gamecreak forgets most fans are adults now.
I wouldn't say it's that easy. The battles and the boss fights can get very difficult later in the game, and imo this is probably the hardest a Pokemon game has ever been since Black and White.
Voice acting and animated cutscenes would have helped a lot because it would incentivize the writers to streamline the story/dialogue/etc. into something more succinct.
A few years ago I was thinking about TMs and I thought it would be cool if you had a library of moves that could be "equipped" and "unequipped" to your Pokemon. I'm glad to see someone at Game Freak had the same idea and actually implemented it into this game.
Is it too ambitious to ask for the next Pokemon game to actually have you controlling and moving your Pokemon in battle? Maybe something half-way between real-time and turn-based combat, like Mega Man Battle Network.
I honestly don’t know if they can make the gameplay not be turn-based unless they abandon any possibility of compatibility with prior generations. It would have to be a pure spin-off, with its own bespoke mechanics.
I would, honestly, love to see Charlie review SMT V after having played this game.

.
I’m only early in the game but I actually really like the side quests…. from a story perspective at least. They’re very simple but it’s cool to see a village terrified of Pokémon slowly grow to work together with them. My hope is by the end of the game the critters are all over working with people to make Jubilife thrive.
I agree with a lot of this however personally I quite liked the research tasks even if it was a little tedious.
The only parts of the story I enjoyed was the end of the main story and the end of the post game story.
Havent enjoyed a pokemon game in so long. This one is great building blocks to what could be 10/10 experience. I think andrew should try this one.
I think they could’ve added way more to the open world. As it can feel empty at times wandering around without anything to look at but fields and Pokémon. I wish they could’ve took a approach like botw for open world.
Watching streamers play this game was genuinely shocking, because for the first time since I was a kid I saw a Pokemon game and was genuinely impressed by it. If Elden Ring wasn't releasing soon, I would definitely spend the money to get this game, because it looks really fun.

You’re impressed by ps2 graphics and a game so hand holdy, that you can’t even play the game for the first 2 hours?
A couple of counter points I’ll make:
The research system was fine to someone like me who tends to do all the side quests and explore a bunch before progressing the story, to the point where the only research star barrier I faced was the very first one where I had to be level 2 to cross the bridge.
As for the story, yeah it was pretty stale and for the majority of the game. However, if you’re a Pokemon fan there’s a lot of little clues to catch and ponder about their connection to the lore. And the main story itself actually goes from 0-100 really fucking quick after you beat the 5th noble Pokemon. I’m not sure if Charlie got that far
And the post game was pretty good too. I honestly liked the story, the climax felt a little lackluster but the post game made up for it.
I’m just about to go to the coronet highlands and I’m already about to get my 8th star (holding off on claiming it for now until I’m done with that area)
I feel like sword and shield was mostly made as a test to see if they could build on what the wild area was in that game and if this is what we got from that concept I’m hyped to see what comes next for the legends games or even just the main line games if they build off of what they did here
The game has a lot, A LOT of potential. It’s like seeing a beautiful Grade A slab of beef, then dropping it in toilet water and slapping it on the grill for 30 seconds.
What an oddly specific but very accurate analogy lol
ye i agree with that considering toilet water is just as clean as normal water
More like seeing a filet mignon used to make beef stew.

I think the most important thing to say here is that the game may be full of holes and shortcomings, but it has a genuinely good foundation for a new type of Pokemon game, and if GameFreak continues to build on it and fine tune the polish, then the future installments can be incredible.
It just all depends on TPC and if they can allow GF to give this format another try with even more innovation.
legit hate how Game Freak is at the mercy of TPC when it comes to how the games are handled :(
I think the art style looks good. But yes the open world did seem a little empty but also the game does take place a long time ago. Then again there should have been other settlements just as big as jubilife village tbh.
Skyrim has more going on in the environment and that game came out over 10 years ago.
Its just so nice that gamefreak is finally changing things and tapping into the potential pokemon has had for many years now. More time in the oven and the next pokemon game with all these features could be extremely special. I would love for them to just learn the right lessons from this game and make it as good as it should be because a lot of the misteps in Arceus were avoidable. Overall im glad to be excited for pokemon again after skipping the last like 4 entries with no hesitation.
With the Pokémon Company, saying "With more time in the oven..." doesn't work, those guys put up some horrible, highly restraining deadlines, and those deadlines HAVE to be met.

I honestly really liked the research system mechanic. Definitely a lot better than just catching the Pokémon and completing their Pokédex entree in the older games. But I agree that they can probably do better in the next games
Its a huge improvement, definitely a step in the right direction. Probably could have used a major makeover. I like the pokedex for some reason but I understand your complaints. I never cared about the story of pokemon but they really could have tried a lot harder.
TL:DR - play the game if you want a new take on pokemon but don't get your hopes up in terms of story or graphics.

@@gamesboy123able rose tinted glasses and all that.
The fact you say it's a HUGE step in the right direction when all nintendo did was the bare minimum, just tells you how blind pokemon fans are. You guys just take the bare minimum every time and love it.
I'm so glad for your review. People cut so much slack for pokemon because "I love pokemon I grew up with them the playground was a pokemon gym everyday, I love it to pieces". You can't review a game if you start like this I'd say.
We all grew up with pokemon and we all grew up with smartphones that would die if you try to run the most basic app nowadays. It doesn't mean that if nokia launches a phone that looks 10 years old the moment it's launched it has to be praised because it saved my life used as a throwable during a mugging 15 years ago.
I really hope this path of trying new things and trying to change the formula continues, but you can't launch a game that looks like footage for a scam video that makes you download 10 diferent spyware before it gives you a 4mb rar that ends up being another virus and claim it's AAA. Do better gamefreak, the money from your nostalgic fanbase will run out, you have to start relying on delivering better products.
Or
Some people think the game is good and you just agree with their opinion, so you made up a reason that anyone giving this game good scores is just bullshitting or something
@@internetguy7319 No every review is just "a step in the right direction" or "i actually have hope for the next game" A game should be reviewed on what it is not "atleast the sequel might be better". Gamefreak does something mildly different and everyone just praises them like its an indie dev teams first game. They are a big time developer. I know they have schedules and i know they have a budget. But we've seen far smaller teams do better with less. The game runs poorly, despite other games pulling off more visuals on the switch. It still has horrendous pop-in. The game can be good. But every pokemon is always nostalgia reviewed. Just look at SwSh, horrible pop-in, literally same models from 3ds games and still looks and plays like an budget indie game.
Unfortunately as long as Pokemon sells well there's no reason for Nintendo to take a big risk and pass them off to another developer. Gamefreak is sadly not Capcom who is willing to change the formula of a game franchise who took risks in updating Resident Evil. The fandom should just speak out not only in social media but with their wallets. A lot of people still give Gamefreak a ton of slack due to nostalgia baiting. Also the lack of voice acting until now is a travesty especially being the franchise that is always accompanied by an actual anime. Having not really played Pokemon as a kid, it was easy to find it totally inferior with most other JRPGs and adventure games on the market for years. What a joke.
You realize that there are tons of people who grew up playing Pokemon on GameBoy/DS who hate the modern games because they think they feel childish. I'm pretty sure if you listen to this review at the start that Charlie says he was one of those people. PLA doesn't have good graphics but I think that the bevy of new features more than makes up for the ugliness of a game that most people will be playing on a 6" display. As someone who's been playing Pokemon since Crystal, I can tell you that the only nostalgia this game gives me is for BotW.
What examples do you have of smaller teams making better open world games on switch for less?
“We all grew up with smartphones”
Huh?
I actually really enjoy all the little tasks per pokemon, bout 30~ hrs in , at the third location. Can get tedious, but I like how my team only really has 2 set pokemon in it. Other 4 are for tasks.
What id like to see more of, is pokemon interaction with other pokemon. And draw distance. I can handle the graphics, doesn't really detract from the experience for me.
I'm happy with the game, can't wait to see what the do to improve! Who knows even dlc may really turn things around.

I agree with almost everything you said, the game is good but needs more refinement in a lot of areas. I didn't have as much an issue with the research tasks though partly because it invites you to come up with strategies to knock out like 5 tasks in 1 go. And you can't approach every pokemon the same way which changes up the gameplay a bit. But yeah it can still be improved, I don't enjoy catching 10 of the same pokemon and it just fills up the boxes.

Honestly, i enjoy the Research System. It Forces You to Use Different teams all the time, so you can't get away with just Powering through with a starter. The time zones actually help with collecting the wisps for the quests. Using new Moves, Granted, isnt great.
