- This is a expensive armor that uses special center drills but it does give it a strong heavy duty drive shank that is less likely to bend like the hollow ones of standard arbors, to bad they did make a way to replace the pilot drill without replacing the expensive assembly.
The length of the arbor shaft is so that you can leave it in your drill chuck and still slide the lock back to clear the plug from the saw.
I'm an electrician, and I use the Spyder tungsten carbide hole saws almost every day. They were expensive, but they last a long time. I blow through plaster, wood, steel and aluminum, and asbestos with ease, and with no sign of the carbide cutters dulling.
I've had these for about 5 years BIG CAT 🐈... they're good. I use them for drilling holes in stainless pipe for turbocharger waste gates and blow off valves...primarily
There's two different sizes in the hole saw kit
I just bought into this system. Compared to what I had this is a marvel. But what is the best system?
They may be good for fab work on a workbench, but trying to use it to make a hole in a firewall in a car or truck under the dash? No way. I could be in the next county with that length of shaft and make a hole. I have a Milwaukee set and a Mac set that has very short arbors to get into tight spaces.
Can't go too wrong with starrett hole saws
so.... you learn how to sharpen your drill bits....
