  • The steps of making a santor
    How is a santor made?
Santur is an original Iranian musical instrument of Iranian trapezium-shaped instruments that has many strings and is played with two wooden sticks (muzrab). The most common type of dulcimer (9 strings) has 72 strings, which are divided into 4 groups and 18 groups.
Based on surveys and research, the santoor is considered one of the oldest instruments in Iran; The oldest surviving sign of this instrument is from Assyrian and Babylonian stone carvings (559 BC). In these stone carvings, the ceremonial line erected to honor Ashur Banipal, an instrument that is very similar to the handmade dulcimer, can be seen in the middle of that line.
The santoor is a completely Iranian instrument, which some attribute its creation to Abu Nasr Farabi, which, like the borbat, another Iranian instrument, was later exported.

This musical instrument is originally a musical instrument from India - after the Muslim conquest of India, the musical instrument arrived together with the Muslim conquest also in Iran and the musical instrument was adopted by the Persians.
This musical instrument is still used in India!
The Greek lyre and the biblical harp from the Land of Israel, developed without any relation to each other. They originated from the single stringed instrument that the shepherds played when they were alone in the field with the flocks.
The Muslim conquest brought the treasures of India including the cuisine and foods to the Middle East - almost everything we encounter in the Middle East originates in India and comes with the Muslim conquest of the Middle East.
