Absolutely Gorgeous. Your work is awesome. I like that you had icing problems and it broke often but you didn't cut that out of the filming. I gives hope to others who have problems.
+Robin Graham Thank you, Robin! Royal icing sometimes has a mind of it's own, and you have to go with it.
Amazing skill! Just beautiful!

Oriental String work is so dainty and elegant!
amazing work...
Thank you, Ashwini!
Very pretty..I wish I had your patience!
I have no words to express my admiration for this amazing work. I'm wondering how do you do to transport this piece of art to the venue.
+Fiore Fer Thank you Fiore! As far as safely transporting this cake:The cake board needs to be wider then the strings so they don't get bumped on the sides of box! As long as the strings are not touched and the cake is in a secure box the cake will be fine.
Absolute Gorgeous!
You made a fantastic cake!
Thank you!
wow!! so beautiful!
+Katie Vernon Thank you, Katie!

Do you have a video showing how to make the gold roses! That color is amazing!!
Michellema belle I have a video showing flower paste roses, but I do not have a video showing the gold. Here is the link to the rose video:ua-cam.com/video/27TGZIPR8eQ/v-deo.html
How did you do the antique finish on the cake? The colors are beautiful!
+Julie Jones Thank you and I petal dusted the fondant.
Lovely! Subscribed :)
Thank you
I wanted to ask if your turntable was tilted, or is it just the angle in the video? This is absolutely beautiful btw.
Thank you, Ruth! The turntable is tilted.
Lovely!
+molly goldberg Thank you, Molly
Amazing job. Wow now can I ask how you would charge someone for that. I mean the time and detail must take along time.
Thank you Laura. The cost would depend on several factors.
Exquisite!
Thank you, Meredith!
This technique is so cool!! I'm just curious are u working on a dummy or real cake? If it's real cake how does it not start to fall apart or sag being upside down like that?
Sugarhousedesserts For the video I used a dummy cake due the hot lights. I did recreate the same cake design for Christmas, you need to use a heavier cake i.e Madeira cake.
Oh ok I got ya! Either way that is really cool and I hope I can make something like that one day 😊. Thanks so much!!
Thank you
Con que tienen cubierto el pastel que les aguanta el peso al girarlo..es increible !
Nathalie San Martin Gracias
You put a product for the real ice becomes elastic? Which product? The actual ice point is fluid?
Hi, what consistency royal icing do you use, for small tips? Some people say firm peak others say soft peak, but then they also say soft peak breaks to easily and firm peak blocks small tips... do you have a recipe that will work for all types of stringwork and will you please share it? Thanks
Louise, I use a soft-peak consistency that had been rubbed down and strained through a knee high stocking.
Thank you. can you recommend a royal icing recipe suitable for stringwork? I found a recipe for royal icing that you make to soft peak consistency then add gum Arabic and glucose, does that sound ok? Here's the link: www.cakedesignsbyrobin.com/recipes.html
does it look like a good recipe? Lol thanks for your help..
Yes, the recipe is posted on my website. Here is the link: bit.ly/1HDyOge
Louise Booth I can't give you an opinion on a recipe I have not tried. I know the link to the royal icing recipe I gave you works perfectly, however you must comfortable with recipe you choose.
I probably missed it in another video, but you went from marking the cake on the top and bottom, then when you turned it over it had the white dots on it. What are they? Icing? You didn't mention it.
The white beads are piped with royal icing to keep the string work from laying on the cake.
My only question is why did you turn the cake base rather than the turntable?
I did turn the turntable.. It might be hard to see, but the white rim is part of the turntable
hi how do u do your cake does not get wet when u take out of afridg mine always get wet
Once I cover the the cake ,I don't put the cake in the refrigerator.
W eldone. this is fantastic job but time consuming
Thank you, Bridget! You're correct although string work is time consuming, it's also relaxing!
also, do you make your own parchment cones?
+Mariel Button Yes I do Mariel, that way I can have the a variety of sizes.
😍😍😍😍😍
Thank you, Karen!
How do u transport with string work and can this be used on American buttercream?
I wouldn't suggest piping the strings with American buttercream, however you could pipe the RI strings on a buttercream covered cake.
Thank you
Is transporting a cake like this a nervous nightmare? The string work is sooooo delicate.
Thank you, Thomas! Actually I have found an ALMOST fool proof method for transporting delicate fragile string work cakes.
@@BobbieNoto What does that look like? Can you make a video about that?
Do you have a link to the Royal icing recipe? I apologize for so many questions. 😔😔
Hi Denise the recipe link can be found here: bit.ly/1KLvDED
I can give you a free recipe. You must use powder egg whites. NOT meringue powder. All you have to do is Google recipe for powder egg white royal icing. You add the powder to some water and let it soak overnight. Next day strain it in a fine mesh strainer and add liquid to your SIFTED powder sugar. Best of luck! :)... Also make sure to paddle a little frosting on counter with a small metal spatula to get out as many air bubbles as you can. And, use a tiny parchment bag and don't over fill bag.
Thank you both
I have just a small question: how do you attatch the cake to the board? and what happens if don't attach it first?
+Belen Honrado I used royal icing to attach the board to the cake. The string work is very delicate and if you attach the board afterwards the strings are likely to break.
I would love to learn if you give online class ,how to make royal icing for string work without breaking .i make royal icing for normal cookies deco .
