It’s perfect. The only thing Toyota missed here, is a TRD off-road/Pro version. I don’t mean for Moab or the Rubicon trail, just a more rugged active lifestyle version. It doesn’t need to be orange with ugly roof racks either. But something similar to the Explorer Timberline, Outback Wilderness, Telluride X-Pro etc.
@@AGirlsGuide2Cars I was looking at the 2023 Honda Pilot Trailsport and would love to see a Grand Highlander with an outdoorsy trim. If it's within the same price range I'd probably get the Toyota.
I own a 22 bronze edition in clement. I am a man who drives this to work. The highlander is the most quiet, comfortable and great handling SuV at 4800lbs. Its easy to drive. I really like the car. Wish it was more ruggedness looks for male.
Nice! I have the Lexus RX350 currently and I’m looking forward to seeing what Toyota has in store for the TX. I test drove the highlander when deciding on vehicles but the Lexus had a noticeably smoother ride quality
ANSWER: It's great! This is a LARGE SUV, and it drives like a large car, but it's quiet and responsive. Take a look at our driving segment in this video:ua-cam.com/video/kTV8Tn4xVp8/v-deo.html
We asked the chief engineer about the Grand Highlander about center row seats and leg rooom. Here's what he said: ua-cam.com/video/sNsQWXXzXYI/v-deo.html
Is the saturation high on your camera? You can't see the the words 'grand highlander' on the back and the infotainment screen just looks like it's all white but I think it's supposed to have maps up?
Good review as usual! This car is designed to be a Telluride killer and eke back market share from cars like the VW Atlas, which are very common in suburban neighborhoods. GH will definitely be a commercial success.
You know it’s a home run when I’m not even in the market for one but I watch the reviews because I’m just so shocked at how great of a job Toyota did. This is more than a Telluride killer, this is a gun to a knife fight. The hybrid gets 36mpg (my AWD Mazda3 doesn’t even get 36 to the gallon lol). The Hybrid Max has a whopping 360 hp and 400 ft-lbs torque. It can tow 5,000 lbs, it has an adult size third row, handsome design, and thank the lord the new infotainment system. This thing is going to dismantle the competition.
@TheMrDudiness The money went to the power train. Telluride and Palisade are both still using a decade old V6. The Grand Highlander is both more powerful and more efficient. Also, as many have pointed out, those cars are nice cars when new, but the quality is really skin deep. A major issue being electronics and paint. But some are also plagued with engine and transmission issues. I won’t fault you for wanting a Telluride or Palisade. They are attractive cars and offer tons of features. But I’ve been in the automotive game long enough to know that I’m this game you cannot have your cake and eat it. You cannot offer luxury features at not-luxury price without cutting corners. With Toyota I know what I’m getting: fantastic paint job, robust power train, and decent features. With Hyundai/KIA you’re getting tons of tech, cool design, but somehow, time and time again, their products just don’t last as long.
@TheMrDudiness Haha, the only thing proven on Hyundais/KIA is their shit quality and spotty reliability. Yeah, some get lucky and last. Others fail miserably. Like my KIA Sportage which failed with 60,000 miles. Or my neighbors Hyundai Sonata 2.0T that failed at 90,000 miles. Or my coworkers Hyundai Palisade that Hyundai actually bought back due to multiple electronic failures that they could not diagnose. So yeah, keep dreaming bud. Toyota has been doing Hybrid tech for 3 decades now, and turbocharging cars for 5 decades. This is nothing new to them. I would trust a Toyota hybrid before I trust anything from Hyundai/KIA ten-fold
Looks awesome overall. Just not feeling the center armrest with the middle slider thing. Just give me a nice big smooch armrest to put my arm on. One thing I like about Lexus is it’s all one piece and it opens on either side.
When you remote start the suv it turns off when you open de door or unlock the doors?? I hate that should be like others brands..... Go off if you don't have the key with you and tey to move the gear shift...... I make no sense have remote start and restart the car when you get inside.... I'm a big fan of toyota but unfortunately for that feature i have to go with Honda pilot instead
I am concerned with the center armrest. I, and I think many drivers rest their arm at about a 45 degree angle on it. With this setup it looks like your forearm will lay on the drive mode dial, center storage latch and the offset edges on the sides of the armrest. That simply doesn't look at all comfortable
It's massive. 201 inches long is a long vehicle. I don't know. I like Toyotas but bigger/bigger/bigger, is it really a good trend? The interior styling isn't as nice as the Telluride/Palisade however I do find Toyotas seem to feel more solid than Hyundai/Kias. Both are very nice vehicles, however.
@@TheMrDudiness Trucks. Trucks carry large objects when utilized for their purpose. The way most people use crossovers , they'll carry children, sometimes small children or growing children. I just don't understand why crossovers (SUV-like bodies on car structures) replaced minivans as the go-to vehicle for families. Minivans have more people space in them. Unless you're in some very snowy area where you need the AWD and ride height, then they just seem like a lot of size that goes to little use. The 3rd row in most crossovers is unusable for adults for any real distance. For 4 or 5 people, a RAV 4 sized car is a good size. This looks like a raised up, elongated RAV 4 to my eyes. This Grand Highlander is a very large vehicle for a "family" car.
Kids + dog + sports bags + backpacks. And when you've just picked them up from school or sports practice on a warm day, you really appreciate how far away they are from the front seat!
@@benjaminsmith2287 We love minivans too, but having spent winters getting stuck in the snow in lower ground clearance cars and muddy Spring days without AWD, there's just no choice. So often an SUV is a must.
The best yt video of this car, very detailed; the only lacking is the price. Thank you..
