  • Robert Shaw conducting the Robert Shaw Festival Singers at First Baptist Church, Greenville, SC, Thursday, June 25, 1998. This was part of the Robert Shaw Choral Institute held at Furman University in Greenville. Robert Shaw died January 25, 1999, exactly 7 months after this concert. Therefore, it is one of the last of his public concerts and possibly the last to perform this classic choral work. The soloists are: Donna Carter, soprano; Jo Anne Taylor, alto; Brian Leatherman, tenor; and Bruce Tammen, bass. The organist is Norman McKenzie.

It's a wonderful 😊 performance. Strange to think and see that he's so full of energy and life and 7 months later he's gone 😪 . Such a master technician!

A brilliant performance. Such energy and grace, passion and contemplation. I fear Britten is being forgotten.
