Katie, Katie, Katie, over the years we've laughed and cried with you we've, sort of, experienced your highs and lows but nothing has been as painful as watching you over the last few videos being so frightened by the drivers that have made you feel so scared. What makes it more of a shame is that you've been waiting so long and looking so forward to being in the Dolomites, massive shame. The only blessing out of this day is that you got to enjoy the sella ronda in peace with loads of other cyclists and with great weather, it looked amazing and cheered me up to seeing you enjoying the moment(s) and feeling the excitement, although I'm not sure it'll recover the pain of the last few days. Wishing you luck for the next day, or should I say the video we will next see. Fingers crossed it goes ok, the drivers are pleasant and you have a better day 🥰
Wha a beautiful ride! Sella Ronda is in my "to do" list, maybe the next closed-to-cars day. I virtual road it yesterday on Rouvy, so what a delight to see this great video show up on my feed. Thanks for making this.
Hi Katie, think I saw you on the Gardena Pass! I did the Sella Ronda too, but with the addiction of Giau and Falzarego Passes. It came out 150km + over 4000m of climbing. That day was awesome. Glad you enjoyed it too ! 😊
I was there as well! We had the best weather possible. When I started from Arabba, I wasn't sure how it would turn up, but it was an incredible experience. A week eralier I rode the Stelvio on the second car free day. I was incredibly lucky with the weather again. A couple of days later it snowed. Nothing compares to riding in the Dolomites.
Sellaronda is just amazing. I did it last year for the first time, I drove 5 hours to get there then I just took my bike off of the car and went for it, it was so hot but the views you get to enjoy erased all the fatigue in an instant!
Katie, I’m so glad you finally had a good day with both the weather and the drivers. I was in the Dolomites for the first time this summer and was blown away by them, never seen mountains like them. This brought back lots of memories.
How stunning is planet earth. We are energy along with all things on this planet, and at times we feel ourselves being "pulled" to something that is not human. It still has an energy that makes this world what it is. Some years ago on a working holiday, my friend and work colleague suggested to take it in turns to go out at midnight and find a tree to hug! (Had never done this before, but had heard of some who did) When i went out, it was sort of funny to find myself actually searching for a tree that i felt drawn too! But when i did find the right tree and wrapped my arms out around it, in no time i found myself crying!! No idea why at the time, but later began to think that i had some pent up emotions that needed releasing, and boy did they release. So when you talk about feeling the attracted to that rock, it could be the energy that you feel between you and it. What a wondrous world we live in Katie 💜
I'm trekking around Italy right now, and I'm currently in Ortisei right now. I wasn't planning on riding around here. As soon as I came into town and then started to see the rides on Komoot and now with your video. I'm not leaving till I have a ride.
I skied that loop a few years ago. I used uplift for getting to the tops of each run of course. It's too tough for me to cycle unless I had a ebike suitable for on road. My ebike is a mountain bike, although with hybrid type tyres as I don't do rough trails due to back pain issues. You are a hill climb lover so that route suited you well.
I wonder if the other cyclists are going through the same thing you are going through with drivers. Have you talked to any of them by chance. Maybe riding with others might help. You are so brave and I am so impressed. Stay strong !!!
The rock scenery is staggering there. Best bit is that pretty much all of it is accessible via gondolas and / or via Ferratta. So as well as cycling there's masses to do. It's an outdoor paradise.
I have been several times to the Dolomites. I fell in love with this place, coming from Switzerland, this is still next level. Such a beauty. And I deeply understand your vulnerability with the passing cars. It is so ridiculous and destructive. One of the reasons why I go mountain biking and what I hate with road biking, aside from the fact I love going downhill, fast! :) The scenery is really so deeply touching, take it in with every breath. ❤
So glad you got your big day in the Dollies that you wanted, and the weather played ball too. Some stunning landscapes, loved the Yorkshire on steroids reference.
Happy to see you enjoying the Dolomites! Once made a trip there by motorcycle, but stelvio pass was closed because of....snow(1m high!). Got really chilly there. Hope to visit it one day by bicycle. Happy riding tomorrow. Stay safe.
We love you, Katie! Been tracking you & cheering you on through all these wonderful experiences! Keep your chin up, you do terrific. All the prayers, love & cheer your way 🙏🌯🌮🍻🙏
Sella Ronda is some of the most beautiful 50 kilometers you can ride (though, I think Norway would be extremely beautiful too). Really enjoyed riding the Dolomites last year. That being said, I agree that the traffic is horrible. Much refer riding in Spain (at cycling destinations) compared to Italy or even France. I especially hate the many motos both in Dolomites and some parts of the french alps.
Looks amazing - looking forward to hitting those roads in next year's maratona Dles dolomites (closed roads so no muppetti to ruin it) muppetti being the Italian for muppet
Love the sellaronda! I’ve done part of it on the mtb trails, will be coming back to do the full loop! You have chairlifts so pure downhill goodness! Would love to do on a road and gravel bike as well . P.s. I love that lemon soda drink 👌🏼
Glad to see how you enjoyed this glorious day. (The Sella pass is the only I've climbed, so many many years ago, with a junk of a bike and a 44x25 gear...) Oh, by the way, you are riding in a province - Southern Tyrol- with mixed Italians and Austrians, maybe the Italians passed too close and those who were more respectful were native South-Tyroleans...)

Been to the eastern part of the Dolomites and also the "not so Dolomites" near the Swiss border and haven't had any issues with close passes or beeping, the drivers felt mostly courteous. One thing i do recommend for next time, there are quite a few cycle paths in the Dolomites that were built on abandoned mine train tracks, some paved, some gravel, but they still take you to amazing scenery, probably worth trying that out as well
It's a pitty about the cars going so close here in the basque country they all leave 1.5 mtrs separation but I must say we do ride closer to the line so there's not such a problem

Hi Katie, from your filming it looks if your riding a tad bit to far from the edge of the road? I ride two times a year in Italy near Rome and that traffic is normal for Italy you just have to have your wits about you. Stay safe and enjoy🫶👍
Close passes are horrid, but it looks like you're riding in the middle of the road at times. UK rules don't apply everywhere. Here in SA if you're not on the side, cars will flatten you. Also, some roads are closed to cyclists.
Not sure any European country will have rules to say it's ok to pass 2 inches from cyclists if you're not cycling right on the far edge of the lane. Sadly aggressive drivers are everywhere who can't stand cyclists holding them up.
Is there any way you can do this ride in regular speed showing whats in front of you without music so we can just hear the sounds ,without stopping the video and not talking so much so we can ride along on our trainers or exercise bikes ?
I began road riding in 1976.... It appears to me that you are riding too far to the left (center) of the road. Your tires should be just to the left of the white line.
@@TBATTIECYCLING I raced from 1985 to 2002. Nothing special. 8th place was my best placing. In all honesty The States is one of the most hostile and dangerous places to ride a bike. Seriously, I recommend Canada
I'm a bit puzzled by how drivers can all of a sudden become so considerate. Can't help feeling you've exaggerated the whole bad driving issue somewhat. I have cycled through the Dolomites innumerable times, as I'm sure many other viewers have, but I would never describe a car as having 'brushed' my arm. Yes, there are drivers who come close, even intentionally, but are you telling me that doesn't happen in the UK?
Yeah I definitely exaggerated it, course I want to cry on rides 🙄 course I want to spend so much on a trip I’ve always wanted to go but exaggerated my experience JUST for UA-cam views. Come on!! 🤨 I don’t know why or how it changed but it did dramatically but remember this ride was long so it’s not the same place. Yes it can and does happen in the UK but much less frequently than this part of Italy. You can think what you like but I know how it felt.
Stupid comment in my view. I think you will find that Katie is only scared by the cars that are trying to brush past with mm to spare. Just like ever other cyclist I know.

Is there any way you can do this ride in regular speed showing whats in front of you without music so we can just hear the sounds ,without stopping the video and not talking so much so we can ride along on our trainers or exercise bikes ?
are they honking at you because you're a cyclist or because you're an influencer?
probably both
You never scoot over ..very unsafe

Come on!! 🤨
I don’t know why or how it changed but it did dramatically but remember this ride was long so it’s not the same place. Yes it can and does happen in the UK but much less frequently than this part of Italy. You can think what you like but I know how it felt.
You're like the only one biking up there. Why didn't you get a car or motorcycle. Too dangerous. Silly 😢
It's not the same riding a motorbike or driving a car
Perhaps you should change to Gravel if you are afraid of every car which passes by…
Stupid comment in my view. I think you will find that Katie is only scared by the cars that are trying to brush past with mm to spare. Just like ever other cyclist I know.
Dumbest comment ever.
Just noticed that this UA-cam commenter has only ever made 1 comment ever in their history, hmmm 🤔
Naive comment
