Proof that Michael Jackson can deliver a bop without moving a muscle 👑
That's a fact!
That's a Fact!!💯💯
W fun fact
Not he grooving on that pole he can’t help it lol
Shamone!
Micheal looked like he wanted to break character every scene 😂
he was just by boppin 😂
Yes, he wanted off that thing and just dance dance dance
My favorite part in the whole movie. Wish Michael had done more movies as he did pretty good acting in the Wiz.
He auditioned for many roles, but was often rejected for several unfair reasons, the movies were cancelled or he just never even got an response back from the producers 😕
@@jeroenboth167 Oh, really!!!? I couldn't imagine he would be rejected or that anyone would turn him down. Janet never had a problem getting roles.
I think the issue was that he was too ‘recognisable’ as Michael Jackson, so people felt he’d not be seen as the characters he was playing. It’s a shame, cos he’s the stand-out performer in this film, and was amazing in Ghosts and the various other short films he made.
@@lexdee523 at least Janet and Michael’s daughter Paris get roles indeed 🙏
@@goldencherry9033 maybe that’s true and indeed it’s an shame not more studios and directors gave Michael an chance 😔
Michael Jackson sounds as good as I've ever heard him in this track. Underestimated performance by Michael Jackson
I was just thinking that listening to this
This is most soulful song👍🏽 miss him
Not sure why everyone sounds so surprised whenever they go further back pre solo fame to realise that Michael had superstar talent before Thriller got him worldwide acclaim.
Michael was killing vocals from the time he hit Motown in 1968 at 10 years old.
His singing ability slowly took a back seat to his dancing and "entertainment" value later on in his career and I think that maybe why people get shocked when they listen to early works like this.
That's why I hold Off The Wall as his best solo album, which coincidentally came around the time of filming The Wiz, that's when Michael started collaborating with Quincy for the album.
Off The Wall musically, vocally and artistically was Michael's best album and I take that over the commercial viability of his later albums any day of the week.
UNDERESTIMATED? HUH!? the wiz is a classic we grew up with and love and this song was the pinnacle!!!! Those who know know!
Those crows as back singers, WON'T NO SLOUCH EITHER, THEY GOT DOWN IN THOSE CHEAP COSTUMES
The Wiz: the musical that's most original in artistic direction, choreography and aesthetics. It never received the recognition that it deserves.
You got that right. It was pure genius to me ❤
Surely you know why…
This Micheal brings a smile and teary eyes. Also a whole new generation is respect this film it’s so brilliant and so many gems
Recognized by whom? Whose recognition is this important?
People were mad that Diana Ross got the role of Dorothy. It allegedly belonged to someone else. She couldn’t pass as a kid so they changed the role to a teacher.
This message is so deep.. the movie was deep too. To me this song talks about the entertainment industry. But also, this game we call life.
I was just about to post something along these lines, when I read your comment,, that's real talk
That’s why I’m here to analyze it
Yes aaaaand.....think about when it was written.... whose life in particular 😉
What's wrong with the entertainment industry

0:57 “SO YA LEEEANNN BAAAACCKKKKK!!! AND YA SMOKE THAT SMOooOoOkeee AND YA DRANNKK YA GLLAASSS OF WIIINNEEE!!” my favorite part 😂
My sister was watching this movie and I walked up and asked her who is that amazing scarecrow?! She’s like dude that’s micheal Jackson!!
Lol.
😂😂😂
😂
😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 Right 👍
Fun fact: This is the film that marks when Quincy Jones (musical director) first met Michael Jackson.
QJ Did The Same With Will Smith For "Fresh Prince Of..."
He actually met him when he was a kid after the Ed Sullivan show, but this was the next time the reconnected
And the rest is history ❤
legendary duo
Just wrong.
His lyrics are sound proof of the music industry....u can't win, u can't break even n u can't get outta the game!!! WOW....
I felt it all through the song!
Boom!!
Glad you noticed
That's unnoticed!
@@Mookaron really
The crows were eating them dance moves up 😂
The comment I was looking for 😂
Especially that Temptation move 🔥🔥🔥
I had the worst birthday today 04/23/24! But Michael cheered me up with this song 😊sometime you feel you can’t win!
Happy Belated birthday Brotha... life has its ups and downs... Just look forward to that Up coming soon for you sir...and Keep rising from there..
I haven’t heard or thought of this song in decades. It was in my head all day. It’s my birthday - 5/3. That’s crazy. Hope we both start winning some.

MJ is the 🐐 of music, dancing, and entertainment. I’ve never seen or heard anything like him since…and never will.
Yup he is ❤
James Brown
Here in 2024 bc MJ is timeless
This scene reminds me of the projects my family and I grew up in. We "won", though. We all finished highschool, some of us graduated from college (we have a doctor, an ordained minister, an art teacher, and a football coach), and now we all live in lovely communities that aren't torn up, and crime-infested.
So, we can win huh 😂😂
@@asherkirkland4138 YEP!
SING IT KING!
Probably one of the most underrated projects since the response to the color purple, classic 👌🏽 ❤
Those crows said MJ couldn't win..... HE WON ❤
Off the wall just came out the time the movie was released
So True!!! He told the truth 😮
@@jamesklattThe album was released about a year after.
Did he though? Look at his life
@@globalcitizenn Well, the fact that we're still talking about him...
You can tell everyone had so much stupid fun doing this movie
This is one of my favorite MJ songs of all time
me listening to the song after failing at finding a job.
Mike came in with that baritone😂
I wish they would play this movie more often love it!
its the internet its streaming free somewhere google it lol
Michael was the greatest performer of all time
The lyrics are deeper than they seem
The black Wizard of oz. 👍💯👍👏🙂
Mike is Mike!!! The GOAT!! Lets show love to them crows tho!!!!
My grandpa took me and sister to see the wiz when it was the play in NYC... Stephanie Mills was Dorothy.
I saw it to on Broadway and when the show was in Philadelphia.
What a time to be alive
How was it?
quite honstly this should be a lesson taught about not giving up and letting the negativity of others drag you down.
Never heard him hit that low note before. Sounded good… of course. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
You can't win, you can't break even, and you can't get out of the game.
💯
This collaboration changed EVERYTHING. The definition of the butterfly effect.
This song is dope yet DARK at the same time...
He killed that song I miss you MJ
My mother took us to see the Wiz, I was 10 yrs old, WOW IM 55 NOW, AND I STILL LOVE THE TGE SONGS😊
I'm not the only one who felt less alone because of this song.
Not better off, just not alone.
Best wishes to you all.
A Classic Then And Now..❤❤❤❤❤❤
Music, Costume and set design...This movie deserved Academy Awards! This can stand up to most movies being made now. It was ahead of its time for sure.
RIP MJ best movie ever
What an ending for this song! That deep voice is amazing!
Being happy and self discovery is the real win don’t let them fool u heaven is a state of mind and being!!!!
The song that proves,
That Michael Jackson was a true brother I don't care what people said,
Just look at the way he sung this song!
His actions is so black right here!
I never thought of him being anything else other but himself self a God ( Black)
This is my favorite song from the movie!
I think Ease on Down the Road only works too because of Michael.
Him coming off that post is such a symbol of him breaking away from his father to a degree. Such a precious talented young human. So much love worldwide.
Legendary 🐐 Status Indeed, Long Live the King Much Love ❤️👑🏆🙌🏾
When the woooorld has got no shame! If you only knew mike.. if you only knew
I remember going to the movies 🍿 to see The Wiz when I was younger. It was fantastic.
Imagine if michael had turned down the offer of this, he never would've met Quincy Jones.
Michael met before this movie
I love my black people. We are so talented and different. One love 🙏🏿
This song had a message in it and it went over 95% of people's head 🤦
Exactly!
True...
what is the message
@@balamohammed5947 it's irreligious.
Still one of my favorites since day one 👍🏽
2:35 You can't win child 🎉🎉🎉
I’m obsessed with the peanut butter cup on his nose.
I know. 😂
Me too
I want peanut butter cup ice cream now.
It looks like they had a hard time keeping Michael on that stand. Fantastic performance. I wish he had done more musicals.
Long Live The King!!!👑 We Love You Mike.🙏🏽❤🙏🏽❤

Love this song and movie forever ❤❤
This movie is fire
Love his vocals at the end of the song!
Michael Jackson was so talented

The wiz has 45 th years today
Really? Dam I'm getting old lol
You can’t win, You can’t get outta the game 💫
The beat draws the ear in, then the message hooks deep in your soul. Can't help but to dance or sing along. Best song in this soundtrack imo. I appreciate Michael Jackson so much. Forever delivering his messages through the sound of music changing lives worldwide. One of the most Beautiful human souls handsdown. Thank you Michael.
I first saw this movie when I was kid ,I was 10 years old and recently after 45 years I watched it again.I must say that Michael did a really great acting job!And just as the character of the scarecrow ,who was kind and sweet,so was Mike in real life ❤
The Crow's dancing made me laugh for some odd reason when I first saw this 0:55-0:58😂😂😂😂
They so goofy, they cracked me up as well
I’m surprised no Kendrick fans are over here. 🤯
which song did he reference this in ? i wanna listen :3
@@annwynbeneaththewavesintro to Euphoria. The Wizs voice is in reverse
That last note gets me every time.
Famed Wiz Director Sidney Lumet (who directed Dog Day Afternoon, Network, The Verdict so you know he KNOWS) remarked that Michael Jackson was the most naturally gifted artist he's ever worked with. This number embodies that.
CaMe here after the kendrick diss
I remember my elementary school hosting a viewing of this on Halloween and we were too late. I was disappointed. It would've been my 1st time seeing it and I had to wait until they played it on TV.
The camera quality in 1978 is better than most cctv cameras today
What fantastic dancers wow that footwork.
I wish he would have performed this song on his tours
One word Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Y’all better stop playing with Michael! ❤❤❤❤❤
In my life this is my reality when applying for promotions at my job. Despite improving, despite doing what they’ve suggested to up my game plus more, they keep moving the goal posts. So basically I’m Michael Jackson and my job is the crows
Actually it’s the world
I was born in 1984 and I grew yo with parents that was born in the 50’s and the 60’s (African American) so I know every single song. Lmao. I’ll be 40 7/1/2024

When i was a kid im like wow michael jackson. Wow. ❤❤❤❤ i was like 7 or 8 watching this
Same
i remember my teacher put this movie on and once we saw michael we SCREAMED!!
Now that I listen to this song 30 years later. I really get it. You can't win in this world 🌎 when you're already set up for failure even before your life begins.
Thank God ,I was on the set n making of the Wiz so many times, even share lunch with M.J. on the subway scene. It was a Monday he invited me that Sunday at his house❤. R.W.T. Angels❤
The crows dancing and singing had me laughing at 1:30 will always love the wiz❤❤
Micheal.’s voice was more soulful when he was younger!
Yeah his singing got more aggressive as he grew older 😢
His voice was always soulful.
he was singing in this style his entire childhood and teenage years he wanted to do sometihng new. also after off the wall didnt win any grammies. mj was angry to prove himself and rick james told him to find his own style and go hard, and thats how we got thriller album

This is a timeless classic. I love it.🤩🤩🤩🤩
I think this is the only song I've heard that had a funny bassoon solo! Quincy Jones went DEEP in his bag for this one!
The Wiz is my favorite movie of all time! I remember when my mom took my older brother and I to see it at our local movie theater back in 1978, the line was soooo long. We were the last ones to get in and then the movie was sold out! I was excited to see the movie not only because I love The Wizard of Oz story, but another main reason was Michael, who, along with his brothers, were my favorite group at the time and still are. I think Michael is one of the main reasons many wanted to see the movie too. The producer, Rob Cohen, said he cast Michael as the Scarecrow knowing he would draw kids and teens. The hype of this movie was phenomenal in the TV commercial ads and the posters in trains and subway stations. I will never forget it!
Thanks MJ whenever I think of the words “you can’t win” I break into this song! Every single time!!
This was so epic I was only 3 years old and I can remember going to see this with my family. Michael Jackson is the goat
If you like Michael Jackson and haven't seen this movie... You really should. The costumes, the performances, the music, it's all fantastic!
This is the singing voice I loved of Michael
Forever will speak volumes!
In my personal opinion, I believe Michael Jackson did a totally phenomenal performance as the scarecrow in the wiz!
I remember the first time watching this movie and hearing those ending notes of "Of the game and adlibs after", just being like "wo where did those come from?" love it.
King of Music got that ❣️❣️💯❣️❣️💯
I love Michael Jackson
