  • Changing the engine oil in my wife's 2009 Ford Focus. It is equipped with an 2.0 liter inline 4 cylinder engine. It is a rather trivial task, but I present a few tips and tricks along the way that could be used for any engine oil service.

I've been used to changing the oil on my own vehicle. Got the wife a 2009 focus and am going to change the oil. I always do research on the type of vehicle I'm about to work on because sometimes you need special tools and so on. So thank you for this it really helped and let me know I have all the tools already

You're welcome! I too usually scope out YT for tips n tricks. Thanks for watching and sharing! 👍😁. BTW I have an evaporator brand new in box for this car I'll sell you cheap if you cover shipping. I have no use for it.

Same. Scoping for tips and abnormalities has saved me a couple headaches. Grease monkey left the old filter seal on my buddy's engine and we all know what happened. I REFUSE to let those kind of places change my oil. I got this car for my daughter to use.

@@jdc8352 I remember laughing at Dad the first time he did that by mistake....Then I did it less than 2 months later! 🤣 I always look for the old gasket on the filter now.

Thank you so much! Very helpful!! I have same car and want to start changing my own oil and basically doing whatever I can on my own. Unfortunately, no one ever taught me when I wanted to learn so I’m very happy that people like yourself are putting videos out in an easy to understand manner. Loved all the tips and tricks!! Wish you lived near me…you could hold auto classes for us women who want to learn 😊.

I have to add another professional tip when he wiped off the oil filter Ring where it would be normly screwed onto ALWAYS always always take your oil and wipe it around the brand new oil filter before screwing it on every step and detail matters when working on a car your either an amateur or a professional master who does everything Top notch ! Thanks for watching! I too like S-K Tools. I just inherited two big 1/2" drive ratchets with broken heads. I hope to rebuild them for several more years of service. 👍😁

My last tip to any and all oil changes would be keeping the oil beyond warm temperature for faster drainage cold oil drains slower takes much more time

I also usually take the oil fill cap off before draining the oil.

Good point! 👍 That would help the oil drain. Sometimes I pull the dip stick half out too. Thanks for watching 😁

Another thing to consider is how much engine metal material comes out of that oil which can easily be seen and tell you a lot of things but mostly to professional mechanics who know what to look for

Unless your using a short stub 13mm snap on is the absolute best I recommend them but S&k 13 millimeters works just fine .... I love S&K as well as milwaukee and couple other affordable brands 5 dollar chinese tools won't last long believe me ...

Last thing I will say is always 100 percent of the time inspect and look at the oil bolt washer make sure it's in good quality nothing less extremely important for obvious reasons

I have always heard to wipe some of your old oil around your new filter ?
I seen he used new oil on it, which should you use on the filter ring old or new?

Either works if it's clean. I prefer new because I know it doesn't have dirt in it. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Thanks for the video. I need to do an oil change on my 2009 Focus. It needs new sway bar links and engine mounts too. I hear these are common issues with this model car. But these are pretty easy repairs. One issue I have that's quite annoying is the right side speakers don't work inside the cabin. Both front and back speakers are out. It is not the balance setting in the radio. Is some wire loose or broken somewhere? What would you recommend checking first if your car had this issue?

    • @FlatThunder
      @FlatThunder  2 роки тому

Your welcome! I replaced the sway bar links on the same Focus shown in the video. The sockets were worn and they rattled; Quick and easy repair. Seems odd both speakers would stop working at the same time. I too would investigate wire connections at the radio plug and then the speakers themselves. Could be as simple as a corroded connection. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

No way in hell in that oil bolt it way to tight for you to loosen it you would have to be the weakest SOB alive by the way if you over tighten it it will strip and possibly leak 99 percent of the time everyone knows this already tightens it to its correct spec
