      I agree. Have several friends running them in fords and dodges with great luck. Put a 550 in a buddies truck with stage 4 converter. 250 miles into the break in the converter locked up and stalled the truck. Revmax fully stood behind it and left him upgrade to the stage 5 converter for a minor upcharge. Hes got over 10,000 miles on the whole setup now

    at 4:53 when you start to load the truck up I noticed it has that little knock and jolt like mine. I was wondering if you know if thats just gear backlash or what? Didnt notice it till I tuned my truck maybe its the trans locking up.

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge  5 років тому

      I never noticed it till I put the revmax trans in. It feels like lash to me. When the exhaust brake kicks on it loads everything one way and when you kick the throttle on quick it loads everything the other way so any lash in either the rear end or trans causes that sound. That's my theory anyway because if you don't run the exhaust brake you don't hear it as much

      @@leoluvsdodge yea I figured as much, just didnt want to break a driveshaft or something if it was the u-joints. I've read about it and it seems to be backlash so not too worried I assume yours is still running good with that going on.

    How did you get updated tunes. I’m also running efi live and my shifting is very hard especially from 3-4. Seems to shift hard if I’m soft driving it, if I get on it than it’s smooth

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge  5 років тому +2

      Go onto hpps website and request an update. They'll email it to you free of charge with instructions on how to get it to the truck. The 3-4 shift will always be rough though because its switching drums on that shift. That's why they have bad throttle flare from factory on that shift to avoid the harsh shift. They are definitely a different animal than any other transmission.

    • @billdoerge6605
      @billdoerge6605 4 роки тому

      How did you have them to tweak the 3-4 upshift? I had them raise the shift point a little bit which helped some but It’s still fairly harsh sometimes.

  • @mitchjruiz
    @mitchjruiz 4 роки тому

    Once you tuned the transmission did it eliminate the way these transmissions lug? I have a stock truck, and this thing shifts into 6th @ 45 and is AWFUL.... worst transmission I've ever experienced. I'm hoping if I tune it, itll eliminate the lugging. Seriously considering getting a Duramax or Powerstroke (GASP!) because of this transmission.

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge  4 роки тому +1

      Yes the tuning really helps drag out the shifts. You won't hit 6th till 60mph once its tuned. You can customize the shift points to your liking too though. Tell them what speed or rpm you want it to hit each gear in. I told them to set my shift points at 2000rpms in each gear in tow haul mode. It wont hit 6th till almost 70mph.

      Kory seems really good with duramax tuning but not sure about Cummins. I went with ctt because I feel they're on the top for trans tuning on the 68rfe. When I bought my revmax I found out that ctt is who revmax worked with to figure the tuning out on the 68s so I figured who better to go with than the very guys that worked with a builder to figure them out.. as far as the engine tuning and power goes you probably won't notice much difference making the switch but you definitely can't go wrong with ctt!

      my problem with an allison swap is the way it has to be done. you have to put a manual file on the ecm of the truck because an allison has its own standalone tcm. the throttle response on a manual 4th gen is absolutely terrible so it scared me to try it. 2nd thing is you have to run an external digital box showing PRND and your manual mode because the truck will think it has a manual trans behind it. if you have remote start youll lose that and will have to add an aftermarket setup. to me there is just too many little details that get overlooked when trying to do that swap. the way a built 68rfe shifts is something i really like. it will break your neck shifting gears lol. allisons feel so fluid driven to me. not that solid power to the ground feel that i like. with revmax being willing to do a rebuild for a grand anytime after warranty i will take my chances on a 68 every time. hope that lengthy response answers your question lol

      Scott Cravens you ran a triple disc with the stock input and a RevMax Valve body and it was fine? I have a new RevMax VB with a new Solenoid pack, new Billet flexplate, and RevMax triple disc converter and I’m contemplating putting them in my stock trans or if I should just suck it up and get the whole thing rebuilt with the 700 rebuild kit.

      @@sonictraxx I'm saving up for a 4th gen as we speak. Was going to delete,& tune with this exact trans setup, was curious how it would hold up? Did you bite the bullet ,or try this route first?

    Still running stock with no delete? Those 68rfe drop like flies when you delete em.

    So that was just deleted and tuned? No other mods like fuel or anything? Cuz she rips asss

      Khenan Bedingfield yes only deletes with tunes. It definitely rips for what it is. I raced a newer 5.0 mustang and was about 2 truck lengths on him from 0-70 then he started to pull on me but I was totally shocked I did that well lol. Have a godspeed 67/67 HE351VE turbo coming next week so I can't wait to see how it runs with that. I'll post a video when I get it on

      Lyle Ocker very impressive, lots of people get these trucks and think they are just dogs but it's because they need good trans tuning to manage that power and put it to the ground and your video speaks for itself. Looking forward to seeing that turbo upgrade

      Lyle Ocker that's just an upgrade stock vgt right?

      @leoluvsdodge  6 років тому

      Khenan Bedingfield yes just a stock turbo milled out. Want a 2nd gen swap at some point but want the experience of running a larger vgt turbo first..

      Lyle Ocker well that's awesome because my brother is on the fence on what to do with his so hopefully you put up some good content of that upgrade set up
