    Do you like this over your cummins? I have a 22 cummins and i’m thinking about building it but everyone is saying i’m going to need to drop 15k on trans and tune etc. Curious on how you like the f250 in comparison.

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge Рік тому

      I guess it all depends on your budget and goals and just what ya like. I personally like my ford way better than my Cummins for several reasons. Rides better, smoother power, more reliable, the aluminum body gives me peace of mind against fighting rust, the 10spd in my 22 platinum makes the truck an absolute beast for towing even bone stock. If you want a truck you can let stock and just drive every day and have plenty of power without feeling like it needs deleted so you can pull better then buy a ford all day long. If you want something to play around with and make a bunch of power a 6.7 ford gets expensive real fast. I had 10k in my Cummins trans for 800 hp then all you’d need is a 2nd gen swap, 10 mil cp3 and injectors and your making 800-1000hp so basically your in it for under 20k in a Cummins. If you want 1000hp out of a 6.7 ford your in the 30-40k range from what I figured. Sorry for the lengthy comment but hopefully that helps

      I couldn’t really speak about customer service as I went through a dealer for the tunes and could get what I needed pretty quickly. The trans tuning is the only thing I really didn’t like but definitely was happy with proven tuning. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the 10spds for tuning.

    “Just for the extra color.” - man, we seriously are like females picking out an outfit when it comes to our rigs. LOL edit: I just realized you’re the same guy that I found when I had trouble finding 68rfe videos. Lol. Now I’m looking to compound my PS and you’re one of the only videos I found… again… funny

      Your not wrong on the color thing lol yea I noticed theres just no videos out there for 68rfe transmissions and like zero videos on compound 6.7 Powerstrokes so thats why i decided to make some videos and post them up. I am going to compound my 22 6.7 Ford and make some videos with it as well. these new 10spds are total animals!

    I know this is a old video but how did the revmax hold up or is it still going? I'm between revmax and randy's transmission there's a couple of other smaller shops I might go with. They all are within a few 1000 of each. Revmax is cheaper for the refresh

      @leoluvsdodge 2 роки тому

      Just got the trans back 2 days ago from Revmax for its 2nd refresh. The first one lasted 75,000 hard miles before the valve body split as I was leaving a buddies wedding sideways burning the tires off through 5th gear lol the 2nd rebuild had somewhere around 30-40k on it but the truck is making 1000hp now so it just ate through it pretty quick. It’s getting 48 swapped now but the trans is headed for a new home in a truck with more daily drivable power. Once you get over the 800hp mark on a 68 they just can’t hold up very long.

      @@leoluvsdodge I plan in staying around 700-800. Revmax has awesome reviews. I've been considering the 48 firepunk said the final drive in the 48 is close to the 68. Just a expensive swap. Thanks for the input

      @leoluvsdodge 2 роки тому

      @@grant_6.7_5th_gen yea it’s 14 grand to swap to a 48. If it’s a daily driver that’s just dumb in my opinion. I mean I feel like it’s just taking a step backwards on a daily driven truck. My new f250 has a 10 speed in it lol. The first time I had it refreshed it didn’t need any hard parts. The 2nd time I had it done it needed a drum. I can’t remember which one but one of the clutches popped out and ruined it but that’s probably because the truck was pushing 1000hp through it lol

      @@leoluvsdodge yea I think I'll go with the revmax 850. My 68 right now is shifting good for now just if I'm in 5th or 6th and I try to give her 50%or more throttle it'll rev up more than it pulls then throw a 5th gear code. Didn't start till after the 2nd gen swap..lol oh well I guess I'm going to baby it till I get the funds up.. just have to explain to the wife why my 2019 need a trans. That'll be fun. • @4wdiesels
    @4wdiesels 2 роки тому

    Do you still own this truck? I'm curious how many miles you got before it needed a refresh? I currently have a Revmax billet valve body and tuning on an otherwise stock 68RFE on my '19 2500. I'm currently at around 500hp so Revmax's signature 550 should be sufficient but if this 700 is giving you decent longevity, I'd rather go this route and have room to grow in the future if I decide to do injectors and a turbo. What are your thoughts? Thank you!

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge 2 роки тому

      The 550 in my opinion is basically just a modified stock unit for longevity. It gives you wiggle room for tuning but that’s about it. After that you’d need to upgrade. My first 700 lasted 75,000 very hard miles towing 15k and ripping on it every weekend. I left a buddies wedding sideways one day and blew the valve body apart so it smoked my clutches. I paid around 2k for a refresh because I went ahead and threw in a billet steel (I believe) it’s the 4c clutch basket as well as a converter refresh. I had the truck another year and put another 20k or so on the trans and sold the truck to a buddy. He put another 20k or so on the trans then started adding power. It held 800hp for a few months without a problem but he eventually went even bigger and is making around 1000hp now. The trans held even that kind of power for a few weeks until the over drive clutches just couldn’t take it anymore. He took it to a dirt drag event though and beat a few trucks with only 1-3rd 🤣. The trans is actually at Revmax right now getting a refresh then the truck is getting a 48 swap but the 68rfe is going to live a new life in a 2012.

      @@leoluvsdodge Thanks for the information. I guess I kinda jinxed myself discussing transmissions with mine still working good enough. This morning I experienced my very first issue. At 80mph it went into limp mode & 4th gear. Since I run an mm3 I reset the code. I was blocking traffic so I totally forgot to write it down but it did mention something with a solenoid. So far it's acting okay but I bet my solenoid pack is on it's way out. I'm tempted to just go whole hog and get the signature 700 so I can finally enjoy my truck's power instead of driving gingerly and trying to make this oem unit last!

    • @leoluvsdodge
      @leoluvsdodge 2 роки тому

      @@4wdiesels yea that almost sounds like a fluke thing with the solenoid. A solenoid pack is only 400 bucks and can be done with the trans in the truck but yea once you have a built trans in it it’ll be a totally different truck. The stock converters are horrible on these trucks for power loss. When you get a trans either the 550 or 700 make sure you get a stage 5 triple disc converter with a LOW STALL. It’ll pull way harder off the line.
