Here's a full explanation of how Tyrogue's evolution works: First, you need to have a combined total of at least 3 between both the punch and kick counters. If the punch counter is at least 3 higher than the kicks, he evolves into Hitmonchan, 3 more kicks than punches he evolves into Hitmonlee, and a difference of 2 or less as long as the combined total is at least 3 he evolves into Hitmontop. You can also cancel his evolution, which is why sometimes he didn't evolve when he otherwise should have. When you cancel his evolution, both counters will disappear, and Tyrogue's hyper meter will be filled to max; he will also gain access to a new move that's similar to Akuma's "Raging Demon" attack. Just keep in mind that this new attack will consume your full hyper meter.
also, you probably figured it out by now but the reason why your Tyrogue didn't evolve sometimes in round 2+ is because your punches and kicks were 1. equal or 2. one point shy of being equal (this is for people who want to remain as Tyrogue and allows them a little wiggle room to use special moves)
Spesifically if : -punch get 3 point or more than kick u get hitmonchan -kick get 3 point or more than punch u get hitmonlee -sum of kick and punch is 3 or more with no advantage of 3 or more from netiher side u get hitmontop (3 punch - 4 kick, 5 punch - 8 kick, 2 punch - 1 kick, 1 punch - 2 kick, etc)
I’m curious. I wonder if it’s more punches or kicks makes him turn into hitmonlee or chan or it might be if he delivers the finishing blow with a punch/kick/special or combo. That he’ll turn into the certain form. Cuz some of those rounds all u did was punch and then won with a kick and he was hitmonlee still so I’m not sure.

ye you had Tyrogues requirements to evolve all correct.
attack = Hitmonlee
defense = Hitmonchan
both stats equal = Hitmontop

Yeah, that's what I figured. Thank you for the confirmation! 😁

You can check the HawkBreland's comment for clarificarion. It is in fact dependent on the amout of kicks or punches and the difference between them 😁
Sage, you're so cool bro!
Thank you, you are cool for saying that 😁
You sound Finnish
