I first heard you play this several years ago when I was first learning this Gospel song, now I have played it lots of times in church it really grows on one, being I usually play it in church on the first Sunday of the month for communion I thought it would be nice to hear you play it again a x as always I learned more things from your playing and ideas, thankyou a d may the Lord be with you!...
The soul of music is alive...great testimony. Love this piece..thank you! You're so right in your comments but I can still hear that old hymn being banged out. It has to be banged out to get through those thick hearts...bravo
That, is a Steinway "B" grand. Not a digital/midi/software device. He keeps it in marvelous pitch perfect playing condition. He records many (not nearly enough in my opinion) of his videos playing this piano. In other videos he has posted he comments in the description area on the instrument and the tech he uses for tuning and voicing his piano. The Steinway "B" grand is their 6'10½" instrument and is the favored piano in many top recording studios. Great piano in the hands of a great pianist.
Wow - just as rich as it gets! Love, love, love this arrangement and the voicing's are just superb. Really gives you chills. I would LOVE to have a rough transcription if you could put one together. Thank you for posting this and please keep them coming!
Outstanding! Love the thumb gliss at 4:03. ;-) Very powerful performance and a testament to your command of the keyboard and the depth of your dynamic and harmonic range. Love it!
One of my all time favorites... really enjoyed this version! Such a light intro building into the powerful chords of this great song is just perfect! I also hope you'll think about doing a tutorial on it. Would love to learn to play it this way. Thanks
WOW... I can't stop listening to this: I've listened to this ten times in a row already... the lovely inner moving voices.... and that great chord at 3:04 where you land on the chord by sliding off black notes first of all... i'm stealing that one...
From 4:07 to 5:34, now that is how You get it done. (That is how You fill the offering plates and get People to dig out the $20's instead of the $5's!)
Is there a basic harmonic pattern that most Gospel songs have in common? I know there's a lot of diminished and augmented stuff, but is there a main sequence? I keep thinking like patterns like in the theme song to SNL, Border Song by Elton John, most of your church Gospel songs like Go Tell in on the Mountain, etc. Thanks and great work as always!
WOW,U PLAY GOSPEL AS WELL.....THATS GREAT.....CAN U GIVE US SOMETHING OUT OF THE GOSPEL MUSIC AND CHRISTMAS MUSIC AS WELL.....THANKS BRO....N GODBLESS.....
Can you put these into chord notation? I'd love to learn this piece. The first part has fabulous jazzy chords, and the middle part is more gospel. I believe gospel piano employs more bass octaves and is often played in the keys of Db and Gb----both keys with a deep rich feel, using mainly black keys.
Wonderful! I love the way you play. Your command of harmony and vocabulary is inspiring. If you get a chance, please check out my UA-cam channel. I just recorded a CD of hymns for solo piano in a very jazz-inspired format.

Alan, I'm sorry, and thank you! :-) That's a great compliment!
The blood different version that I know it is still really good though. I sang the blood that never never never loses its power. in college.
I made some pretty drastic changes to the chord structure.
