"My God Is Real" is a song I sang as a vey young girl from Chicago, Illinois at Pacific Garden Mission down on Skid Row. My late birth father accompanied me on the piano in this exact southern gospel style. Thanks for the time travel back to my musical roots. Jesus is lifted high through the praises Hs children, and music is certainly one of the best ways to give our Heavenly Father praise. You do that so well!
Every year I come back to this around All Saints Day for inspiration to improvise on “When All the Saints Go, Marching in” especially the 2nd half of “ Just a Closer Walk” then I go listen to some Professor longhair also for inspiration.
Beautiful.... you play it like I feel it. I think you play like I play, let the soul take over and hear what is inside. It may not always be the same, but it always has feeling. I feel you .... and I am 68. Thank you for some really beautiful tunes.
Absolutely Beautiful ! You Blessed my soul! The church does not sing or play hymns like this anymore which is a shame and disgrace far as I am concerned. ♥
Both pieces were perfectly executed, in many respects! Piano is very well tuned! Great: clean and crisp tone, rhythm, dynamics, pedaling and very SOULFUL! OUTSTANDING!
OMGosh!!!! I absolutely LOVE your styling of this old hymn. Adding that dramatic base, the way you add it is absolutely phenomenal. I could listen to you play all day.
This is such a blessing . Thank you ! We used it as one of the songs on my Dad's memorial slideshow . He was a piano player himself .. reminds me of him. I listen to it all the time when I need music medicine for the soul and spirit.
My two favorite Gospel songs--I love to play those on piano & guitar too--Reckon these'll be the ones played at my funeral- Thanks for sharing your talent.
I had no idea that you played the piano! Did you go to school or is it just a gift? This is an amazing rendition! What brand of piano is this? Keep up the good work! I guess this is your next job!!
I love the natural & happy feeling of the song that you manage to bring out with your Steinway, not to mention with ease. I guess this performance reflects your carefree and thankful memories of Gospel music? Your Gospel roots are a really good foundation for all your other Jazz piano vids.
You never cease to amaze me! I love it when you do gospel music. You have such an incredible talent. I wish I could hang out with you for about a month and learn some of the great things you do in your playing.
Oh how. I wish I had followed through with learning piano. Just another beautiful way to worship. Sometimes vocals isn't enough. Beautiful talent and ministry
Hey, my man, that just sent me into the groove. Gospel is not my bag, but that was just off the hook, I don't care who you are. Thanks for the musical offering.
Are you kidding me? I've been looking for a teacher like you forever. I'm in NJ and our playing here is rubbish - bass guitars and drums that beat your brains in. This is REAL PLAYING.
+Vic Riz - - - I know what you mean. People on bass guitars just want to blast away. Instead, an upright bass adds the right amount of bottom and rhythm.
This is SO very beautiful. I wish that you could do a tutorial on playing gospel, or better yet, publish a music book of gospel the way you play it. It is my very favorite style, and you do such a beautiful job of it. Thank you so much for this video!!
You did an outstanding job in playing (My God is Real)!!!!!!!! I play it daily will praying. Hope you bless us with more my brother. I play the Hammond B-3 with 122 but did so more in my youth but now don't practice so don't do much on church platform. Rev. Michael Capps, Ph.D Bishop:
I wish you lived near me so that we could jam sometimes. I've learned and have improved so much In the past few years from just watching the different licks from so many piano players. Actually, I watch more UA-cam than anything.
That was cool .. I try to put the blues sound in Gospel songs I'm learning , it's not easy. You did that well .. u wouldn't have sheets for any of that do ya?
1st half demonstrates the wonderful dual personality of a good Steinway ie. how it becomes a different animal above ff when all those bright harmonics blaze forth. but I prefer the trip through the streets of New Orleans (2nd half) .
This is great! I want to record to this. Can you send it in a file for a singer to sing it slow with an intro ? This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

I'm swooning over your interpretation of "My God is Real"---sounds like the old Black Baptist Church. So soulful.

Accordians are awesome! I've never played one, but love the tones you can get from it. Thanks.
