- We recently got this 1979 Chevy Luv and said goodbye to our beloved 65 Rambler. We needed a shop truck and some fresh metal and this definitely fits both needs.

Nice to see a video from you Sean, and glad you're feeling better. Looking forward to seeing what it looks like when you're done
Thanks! Lots more to come on this Chevy McLuvin!!
we had one in our shop and we gave it hell and we never had a problem with it
faster than walking.....just!
the holes plugged up with the spark plug are part of the smog controls. some one has done a smog delete at some point. the rust on the inner guard is common no matter where you are in the world! It's a fairly tidy unit all up. look forward to see how you go with it!
Great video, It is actually in pretty good shape overall for a LUV and a good place to start. The drivers door is from an earlier year with a wind wing so probably just that door was Blue. I have an extra steering column cover if you are interested. UA-cam needs more Chevy Luv content so keep the videos coming. 👍 P.S. "Faster" than a MoPed with the stock motor.😂
I actually subscribed to your channel earlier today and yes I am interested in the steering column cover. Have any other goodies?
They were sold in Australia as Isuzu and Chev Luv. The engine in there looks to be an Opel. We got a diesel version which wasn't so great but...we also got military land rovers with a high torque Isuzu 4BDT diesel which is so torquey that Land rover had to use the Isuzu gear boxes to prevent breakages. A mate has a Isuzu light truck with a 4BDT turbo which is unstoppable with a full load (around 2 tons on the deck) and a 1948 Chev 2 ton truck with a 4BDT which will cruise all day at 60 MPH with original rear axle. Doesn't sound too fast but 80 year old suspension design is built for load carrying not F1 cornering. Plus our max speed limit is 60MPH,exeeding that will land you in a world of financial pain. If that were mne shop truck/ute, I'd be installing a 4BDT with the Izusu gearboxes, the LT95 and LT85. I have known a guy here who has run 13 Sec 1/4 mile times here with this combination. Plenty fast enough for a working truck.
I know some of these came with a 5 speed. I kinda want to swap one of those in.
Isuzu Faster,Chevy LUV and Isuzu KB20.
Isuzu KB25 for the Longbed like yours.
There is definitely some learning and work that needs to be done.
Engine swap it! Lol. You could probably score a Chevrolet Silverado 5.3 liter V8 out of a 2000 truck for fairly cheap. Lots of potential
I think I will see what this is like to drive before going crazy. Unless Southern Light Unlimited wants to sponsor and send me a motor/transmission LOL
can you tell us what happen to thw ford festiva thank
I sold it to a Festiva lover in SE Ohio earlier this year.
Tim from @LuvTruckGarage send me . Gave you a sub.
