TV isn't my world so it's hard for me to emulate Ted. But he's an interesting man who has done a lot of things. His life story comes together in his book "Call Me Ted". I've been listening to the audiobook which is narrated by Ted himself for about the 4th time since I got it about 10 years ago.
Read it multiple times before giving that book to the library. One of my favorite books and I wish he would have been able to keep MGM. The studio is now a shell of it’s former self.
There really needs to be a good Bio-pic on him. I assume he is not interested in authorizing that. He is far more private today than he was at his peak. Health issues keeping him out of the limelight.
My favorite American too. Love hearing how vital he was. Still a ball of fire. Just mellowed out some at 84. All of us as we age need to remind😎 ourselves to remember things. Glad to hear he is doing yoga. For me golfing tomorrow. Just 9 holes at 79. Still hitting balls.
Ted suffers from Lewy Body Dementia these days. By all reports he is doing as best as can be hoped. But he seems to be in declining heath. It is tough for him to speak and get around as he used to. He is apparently happy and well cared for out on his ranches. Where he loves being. Lewy Body is often referred to as “the long goodbye”. It is sad for those of us who knew him at his peak… to see his slow decline. He is ONE of a kind.
actually this is 1986 because Ted had recently bought MGM. He did not get to hokd on to the studio that long. I wish Time Warner would have bought MGM so they would have gotten their pre-1986 library back
What was his third network at the time? I know he had TBS and CNN at the time. TNT did not come out until 1988 and he already sold Cable Music Channel by that point
Really respected "this" Ted and the one a decade before. *Interestingly a year after this airs he'll divorce his 2nd wife of 13 years start a relationship and soon marry Jane Fonda then pretty much do a "180" from his previous self
I like Ted Turner. When I lived in the Atlanta area he was the KING.
He is my hero. I was born in Atlanta. And I am a Television fan.

I have read his book call me Ted many times. I wish he would have been able to keep MGM. But he hit off a little more than he could chew.

Steve, thank you for posting this. Love this.
10:35 it took 25-30 years but Atlanta is now Hollywood South!
Husband, graduate NTSU/BOA-RTF, Denton,Tx., skipped out on interview with Bob Wussler.
Love Ted.
And he said he was about to do TBE goodwill games in Rusdia. Looked it up and it is 1986.
Nice Steve, never knew about this.
Neither did I until now
He was promoting New Leave it to Beaver too

Sad to hear this news. He will not be forgotten. He created CNN and many other ventures.
Too bad CNN sucks today!
Yes same went with Dick Clark when he had his stroke and his voice being gone.
Very much so snd responsible for the fall of our democracy.

What was the tune the band played when Ted came out.

Is the 60 minutes segment available on yt?
sawright😊😊
He is right about the violence.
👍✌
His facial expressions remind me of Capote
He's right about bs tv.
IS there a link between televised violence and real life violence? Who knows?
Also he talked about a year ago he attempted to take over CBS.
Quintessential Ted Turner, decrying too much screen-time and the sleaze on network television.
Ironically he used to own the film network.
You know what they say never bite the hand that feeds you
Family Ties came on after Cosby at the time

I really think, from all I have heard and read. Jane Fonda was the love of his life. By all accounts they are still close
