  • We've had our bosch dishwasher for something like 10 years and use it pretty much daily. The wire rack has started to wear down and rust in a lot of places, and that's actually been marking the plates and dishes! I'm not 100% sure how to get the marks off.. so if you have suggestions, please let me know in the comments.
The silicone caps I found on Amazon look like they'll do a good job of protecting the crockery. They can be cut to length, but in general you'll probably want to put the whole thing on as-is. You can slice them length-ways for holes in the basket that aren't on the tips of the rack.
They come in packs of 100 or 150.. I kind of wish I'd counted what I needed more carefully, since I've got loads left over :D For 150 they're about £12 from Amazon right now; amzn.to/2U8b6Gk - they're listed as ORIGINAL Silicone Dishwasher Rack Caps from a company called Smiths.

citric acid (coffee machine descaler) OR vinegar OR lemon juice, will tend to dissolve rust stains on sinks and bowls.

Thanks; the silicone caps will help prevent them in the first place, but that's a really good tip.

Did it stop it from rusting?
