  • I look at the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water on synth today ! It's a lovely pedal.

Man when that reverb kicks in… that’s incredible. Nicely done.

Thanks for your demo, great sounding effect and great sounding synth patch! Sounds like some kind of taped organ/harmonium.. (Now I gas for a wavestate synth after watching your video!)Never tried the pedal on a synth before, will give it a go. Would you happen to know what the other trimp pot do? I know one of them trims the low end on the lpg, somekind of voltage control? (maybe I should've messed with it!)
    Cheers
    Eric

I’m not sure what the other trimpot does, yes the other is the sensitively of the lpg onset detector iirc.

Just found your channel, love it. how does this compare to the strymon deco, and which one do you prefer if you'd have to choose?

Totally different devices. If you want tape flanger I would get the deco. If you want vibrato / lofi the shallow water. The shallow water can't go slow enough in delay time to do flanging.

With the mix down and the depth up, would this create a stereo effect if coupled with an unaffected signal

and one more question: you say you have the boost off, and the 6db pad enabled, why? is that to make it work better with line level (synths)?

Loving this demo. The thing I have about this pedal however, is that its an easily replicated effect. I wish it had more CV control.

      How would one replicate this?

@@GusHayden777 2 osc polysynth, add modulation to osc 1.

@@xa1a You're not wrong that the effect can be replicated, but that method wouldn't replicate it at all.

@@henryhill92 Actually its doing it beautifully right now on my Jupiter 6. The key is analogue. I am not sure if you have played around with vintage synths or not, but trust me, it can get there in spades.

@@xa1a Yes, I've used and own plenty of analog synths. What you're missing here is that the Shallow Water has a low pass gate that responds to input levels, so unless your synth has a LPG after its LPF, then you can't do what this does. Also what you're describing there is just 2 oscillators beating against each other with some modulation of the interval between them. That's not true vibrato or chorusing. That's like saying that adding a 2nd osc to a Juno and modulating it against the first osc is the same thing as the chorus effect on the Juno. You mighty be able to achieve a similar effect, but it is not the same. That's like saying a phaser, flanger, chorus and vibrato are all the same thing. Yes, they technically all use the same process to accomplish what they do, but the results are very different.

Alright, you got a Tempus! Awesome, isn't it?
Blue caps are likely Epcos caps, very common in audio gear, not as nice as WIMA MKP4 or Vishay MKP1839 (in my opinion) if they are PSU decoupling caps. Circuit layout looks relatively like your typical Chinese low-budget audio amp/DAC, not anything that great, in my opinion, but at least easy to service.

I should have said compared to other boutique pedals the layout is fantastic. I have seen my fair share of badly done ones. Especially ce-2 clones. They did a good job on noise suppression and isolation for a bbd based device though.
The tempus is very nice but I don't think it's a replacement for any of my other reverbs since they all sound so different. It's more of moving vertically to another reverb vs moving up. That said the price point makes it insane for what you get. I think they are using a multitap delay architecture for the reverb network and it does sound lovely. Surprisingly I think this thing might even be running on a spin FV-1 as it's dsp core. It runs on 100ma and has a limit of about 1 second of delay time thus leading me to think that. I might have to take the cover off. If that is the case it might be the only reverb I like based on that dsp. I do however like a few delays based on that dsp though.

@@YukiTheSynthDragon I don't feel that the Tempus replaces any of mine, especially the RV500. I love reverb and still have my lower-end ones, like the HoF2, Cathedral, and Polara. Basically, if I enjoy it, I keep it. Eventide's Space is next on my list, and I think that I may give the Ventris a go later (originally decided not to).
