  • After Carter and his team carried the God of the Dead Anubis out, photographer Harry Burton had an unobstructed view into the treasure chamber. Along the north wall to the left, there were several chests full of treasure. A gilded bust of the Celestial Cow Mehet-Weret (Carter no. 264) sits in front of the golden canopic chest.
In the pile next to the chest, Carter and his team make their saddest discovery. They found two premature infant mummies. The death of the Pharaoh’s children signaled the end of the royal bloodline and the glamorous reign of the 18th Dynasty rulers.
