  • After opening the first gilded wooden coffin (Carter no. 253), which had to be pulley lifted out of the sarcophagus, Carter discovered a second coffin within. Also carved from wood and gilded, this one had been adorned with beautiful inlays of stained glass and brightly colored, semiprecious stones.

    Its just amazing the work that went into putting that 500-600lbs worth of coffins into the sarcophagus with out chipping the walls or floor or damaging the paintings on the walls.

    The glorious feeling to see the coloured version gives more open thoughts about the time of the discovery.

    Wow the technology to transform old black and white pictures into color is eye opening. It looks like modern day Mr. Carter

      The thrill isn't the decaying body, it's the knowledge of history and life that comes from the objects with it.
