The sensation of jerk is also why no rollercoasters have perfectly circular loops, as the g force from a circular loop is much more likely to snap the spine and kill the rider
Actually there are a few (modern) rollercoasters that have a (near) perfectly circular loop. To add a little more thought on the acceleration issue, these small coasters of mine have much smaller track dip radius of curvature than a professional roller coaster, so it's a concern for me if I have a taller person ride. But, professional roller coasters have much larger track radius of curvature in dips, so the effect is much less pronounced. I believe professionals design to what is called the "heartline" first, which is a 3D path your chest/head takes through space, then they design the track offset from that 3D spline.

awesome video, Hawk.
All my grandfather did for me was make me cut the grass!
Please don't film with a fisheye lens anymore, I want to be able to see if something is straight or curved.
Still a really great video though!
Glad a video like this is on UA-cam
how about " how to build a hospital in your back yard"?
Home MRI machine could be handy
Wow never thought about the head jerking but totally makes sense.. I get headaches more now as an adult and when I was younger i didnt seem to get any headaches on rollercoasters.
My ex-wife was a all time rollercoaster (for more than $50000 total)
Fascinating revelation. Time for Intamen, etc to design a coaster that keeps riders as close to the track as possible. Very smooth. from now on whenever I ride a coaster, I'm going to slide my 6'3" ness down low in the seat!
Wow, its so inexpensive that you'll have plenty left over for the emergency room bill!
You don't need that with proper safety engineering.
Wow!! This must be the most low key produced video but damn I can watch this any day!!! Great content!
I would definitely not have a part that loops under itself
Cool video! It's neat to see you venture outside of your regular video format to interview someone!
I am curious how he bends the conduit though and retains maximum rigidity.
I'm making a separate video about Paul's pipe bending technique. Stay tuned for that one
I also built a roller coaster in my backyard
In minecraft
