The intro of the Orphan of Kos. You've just found the dead body of Kos herself washed up on a lonely beach, when suddenly something tears itself out of her body. A Humanoid Abomination of nightmarish size and mien crawls out of its mother's body, stands tall with its own placenta in hand, stares at the sun... and begins to sob. There's also Kos herself. In a way the fact that she died is sad, due to the fact that this means that all the prayers and sacrifices the people of Yharnam have done in her name were all for naught. It is also implied that Kos perished in an attempt to grant her child life, as she was dead prior to washing up onto the shore. She willingly surrendered her immortality out of love for her child... and you butcher it less than a minute after it's born. And that bears it's own bit of tragedy. Yes, the player fights and kills The Orphan of Kos. But the Orphan attacks the player when they try to approach it, forcing the player to kill it in self defense. Given its pained shrieks and erratic movements, it's not too much of a stretch to assume that the Orphan is lashing out at everything around it in an attempt to either soothe the pain of the tragedy its suffered by merely being born, or to die. And then there's the Orphan's screams. While they're certainly nightmarish, listen closely. They're not just gibberish; the Orphan is screaming "NO!" over and over again. You're not just fighting a monster, you're fighting a grieving child lashing out in anger over something it can't understand.
But first the Orphan was taken from it's mother's womb by Gehrman, Maria, and the Scholors in the waking world, experimented on extensively while alive, it's brain searched for eyes as suggested by the alter that takes you to the Research Hall, umbilical cord taken for further study to gain aucidence with it never allowing it rest in the next dimension, and finally used as a catalyst for the Hunter's Nightmare because of the curse inflicted on hunter's by the gods.

As all boss battles should be. If there’s anything fromsoftware need to work on, it’s how they refine in game items with status affects and boss arenas. Cheesing a boss destroys the vision fromsoftware set out to create.
It's still funny to me that the hardest fight in the game is with a guy that was _just_ born 10 seconds ago, and not one of the ancient deities that've been around for millennia. S'pose there's something to be said for raw, unbridled confusion, sadness, fear, and anger as opposed to a composed mêlée.
Keep in mind that Shirrako only used 2 Blood Vials in the 1st phase while he used a whopping 17 Vials in the 2nd phase. This just goes to show how much of a jump in difficulty there is from the Orphan's first phase to the second.
The yells make it sound more like it's being hurt when it attacks and that plus the idea of it using it's umbilical "stuff" as a weapon is just.... crazy. I feel sorry for him.
@@redbarchetttaall dark souls games are easier than bb and difficulty is subjective. Most people think bb is the hardest one, a game you might find hard is easy to someone else depending on playstile.
Man, Bloodborne is just a perfect marriage of setting and gameplay. You have ZERO idea what Orphan is supposed to be, the game doesn't tell you, but the animation and sound design tells you EVERYTHING about Orphan. We see his mother clearly, but his father is obviously a Hunter, from the subtle flourishes at the end of his swings, to the way he gracefully dances around. He has Hunter blood in his veins. This is never explained at all. It's just 'made' apparent by the way he moves and looks. You can hear the human DNA coming through in his voice, which isn't surprising since he's pretty humanoid, but there's hellish and bassy gargling accompanying it. He has monstrous volume and power to his voice that is anything but human.
And that's why he is so difficult: He is a Great One birthed in the image of a Hunter. And he clearly looks like Gehrman, the mightiest of all hunters.
@Dark_kittens123 I love Sekiro, but at that time (March 2022) I only played it like once or so. In between I played Elden Ring several times, I played Sekiro 3 times... so yeah. Would be a bit different now.
Funny to look back at bosses that were considered difficult now that we have Malenia and Promised Consort Radahn. Orphan of Koos is a walk in the park now.
I love watching fights like this where the player doesnt use some cheap cheese strat or hella buffs before entering a boss room,it is so much more exciting and you can see the effort from the player and how challenging the boss is meant to be No spamming azure comet or rivers of blood just an all out fight to survive
Not sure why FS didn't stick with the Bloodborne dash moving forward. Functionally the same but just flows a bit better or something, I've mods for DS3 and Elden Ring to add the dash and it just feels better, like a dance.
After learning the lore of this fight, it’s like when I fight Sif now. I just feel so horrible. It’s an angry orphaned child lashing out at the world. Screaming “NO!!!”. It’s no different than the troubled kids/juveniles my girlfriend works with where the system has completely failed them.
@@bbpoItergeist nah because elden rings magic is insanely overpowered, bleed builds make the game easier than even sekiro, there’s so many things that make the game easier that you have to limit yourself to only melee so the game becomes difficult. Elden Ring may be the greatest video game ever made, but I still consider Bloodborne FromSoft's masterpiece. The atmosphere, level of detail, music, unforgiving and terrifying bosses, super-tight combat... I don't know how they will ever top it?
@Dark_kittens123 Yes! Sekiro's sword combat is probably the best combat system of all FromSoft games. I never mastered it 100%, but got pretty darn good at it. I still personally like Bloodborne best because of the gothic art style, weapon variety and creepiness of the enemies. But Sekiro is superior combat!
@@traktorholik Dark Souls 1, 2, 3 laid the foundation for Elden Ring. They are all great games, and Elden Ring is their culmination. Sekiro and Elden Ring are the two "Game of the Year" winners in the FromSoft library, so they clearly did something right with both of them. If you actually read my post, I am saying that I personally like Bloodborne better than ALL of them. It's all subjective.
I remember first hearing its scream at 3:54. One of those things that etches into your mind and you will never forget it. It's so visceral and heartbreaking. Almost like you can identify it as a real reaction of someone screaming from the pain of losing their mother.
The Old Hunter bosses are so sad. At the least the 3 dead hunters and Ophan. It really feels like you're putting everything out of its misery in these fights.

Bloodborne, was my first introduction into the Souls/Borne series. After beating the Main game the DLc, and getting the platinum trophy 🏆, i must say that this game is easily One of the greatest, and my personal favorite game of all time! I hope they make a remake to this on PS5, with... 1) updated full scale, 4K HDR graphics. 2) excellent ray tracing 3) keep the same controls (or make it better if they can) 4) Game runs from 60 to 120 fps. That would be sweet ❤️!!
I beat him on my second try. Maybe I was too overleveled when I fought him. Laurence on the other hand was a nightmare for me. I had my ass beaten by him more than 30 times
To Any bloodborne Veteran: I just beat Elden Ring and am on my NG+10. I’ve NEVER played Fromsoft games before in my life, so when I discovered Elden Ring this past February, I fell into a deep love for a game unlike no other. So I ask you all? Is this game worth it, would I like it like Elden ring or close to it?
IMO much harder than elden ring. Plus it has a very Victorian-Eldritch horror feel to it. Would 100% recommend. It’s free on ps5 I think so pick it up and get the dlc
It has significantly less weapons, but every weapon has almost 3 whole movesets so it events out. You basically have a boss moveset, unlike the other Fromsoft titles. You can really fall in love with just one weapon for most of it. I still recommend making a quality build so you can use every weapon you find, also just because blood gems can shoot your attack power into the stratosphere anyway, so min/maxing your build matters a lot less than most other Fromsoft titles. Chalice dungeon farming is your friend. It starts out very hard. I want to say Yharnam is one of the hardest starting areas in a Fromsoft game, but the difficulty quickly stabilizes after that and kind of stays that way, unlike Elden Ring which kind of keeps getting harder even when it probably shouldn't. It's significantly easier than Elden Ring once you figure things out, and the stagger system for bosses is very similar, which is one of my favorite things Elden Ring took from Bloodborne.
Wait, wait, wait, wait.... there is no way one person is running this account fam. Is this person really playing all these games, and so well? Incredible lol
I broke my phone yesterday because of this boss XD Still sublime in the amount of details with him, from the screams to the initial cry when he comes out to fight
Most people will say Ludwig is their favorite boss from the DLC, others will say Lady Maria, for me the Orphan of Kos is my personal favorite boss from the Old Hunters. Everything about the fight was perfect in my eyes. From the design of the Orphan, to the arena, the tragic backstory, the saddening and adrenaline rush music that plays, it was just so damn fun to fight. Surprisingly though he wasn't too hard for me during first time fighting him. Granted it could be cause I was over leveled, but I also didn't rage once at this boss fight cause he was just that good for me. He will always be another one of my favorite bosses of all time from the Soulsborne series. I'm honestly wondering if we were able to get his placenta weapon that he used, what would it be like instead of the tentacle arm power we get. Just imaging being able to swing and use the weapon like he did, and just two handing it and slamming enemies into the ground with it. "Ah, sweet child of Kos, returned to the ocean. A bottomless curse, a bottomless sea. Accepting of all that there is and can be.".

As all boss battles should be. If there’s anything fromsoftware need to work on, it’s how they refine in game items with status affects and boss arenas. Cheesing a boss destroys the vision fromsoftware set out to create.
@@thatonelocalauthority2809 Well some bosses deserve cheese tactics. Looking at Micolash
@@Seidr-Bane micolash is one of the easiest bosses in the game lol
@@nich2632 I refuse to not cheese the foreskin duo and melania, rotussy
@@nich2632he might not be a hard fight, but he's annoying af to fight, which i personally think he deserves to get cheese'd
This is still my favorite Soulsborne game, it's so different than the others including Eldin Ring although they each are unique in their own way.
I like Bloodborne better than Elden Ring. I hate how there's hardly a story in Elden Ring.
The crying then him screaming when he attacked scared the hell outta me lol
Bloodbournes atmosphere is something else.
But its gets boring when 90% of the locations looks the same
From rage-fueled screams to placenta piledrivers, this kid’s got it all!
With all those souls game.. Bloodborne still in my heart
Keep in mind that Shirrako only used 2 Blood Vials in the 1st phase while he used a whopping 17 Vials in the 2nd phase. This just goes to show how much of a jump in difficulty there is from the Orphan's first phase to the second.
Bloodbornes graphics were phenomenal such an amazing masterpiece
Are, not were
@@yeetusfeetus8006Its dogshit in terms of details... Just a cool artistic vision
The yells make it sound more like it's being hurt when it attacks and that plus the idea of it using it's umbilical "stuff" as a weapon is just.... crazy. I feel sorry for him.
Loved this dude in the new alien movie.
Out of all FROM SOFTWARE games Bloodborne is my favorite, we can all agree the gameplay and atmosphere of the game tops it all, to each their own ofc
At the moment reading this I hear orphan screaming and nasty blood sounds talk about atmospheric
Sekiro had best combat. I’ve never played sekiro
Sadly BB is the easiest one.
@@redbarchetttaall dark souls games are easier than bb and difficulty is subjective. Most people think bb is the hardest one, a game you might find hard is easy to someone else depending on playstile.
Still my favourite. Followed by DS3. Really didn’t like Elden Ring
*"Mother has grown cold, Her heart no longer beats."*
Bro was great in Romulus
if you play any Soulsborne game there is this feeling that you will at least fell in love to a boss that was challenged you the most.
My 10 favourite Soulsgame bosses (because of different reasons):
01) Nameless King (Dark Souls 3)
02) Malenia (Elden Ring)
03) Sister Friede (Dark Souls 3)
04) Elden Beast (Elden Ring)
05) Midir (Dark Souls 3)
06) Seath (Dark Souls 1)
07) Regal Ancestor Spirit (Elden Ring)
08) Orphan of Kos (Bloodborne)
09) Slave Knight Gael (Dark Souls 3)
10) Placidusax (Elden Ring)
The cutscene for nameless king will always be amazing.
@Dark_kittens123 I love Sekiro, but at that time (March 2022) I only played it like once or so. In between I played Elden Ring several times, I played Sekiro 3 times... so yeah. Would be a bit different now.
@Dark_kittens123Sekiro bosses are boring af
Elden beast in top ten is a crime its such a dogshit fight
Has it changed at all? I would personally have Ludwig and Lady Maria in my top 10 tbh
Funny to look back at bosses that were considered difficult now that we have Malenia and Promised Consort Radahn. Orphan of Koos is a walk in the park now.
3:31 Don’t you guys think he would make a great chef? I don’t know, he just sounds like he would make great pizza
nah, his restaurant would probably be blown up by a giant laser or something, some wacky stuff like that.
I love watching fights like this where the player doesnt use some cheap cheese strat or hella buffs before entering a boss room,it is so much more exciting and you can see the effort from the player and how challenging the boss is meant to be
No spamming azure comet or rivers of blood just an all out fight to survive
Not sure why FS didn't stick with the Bloodborne dash moving forward. Functionally the same but just flows a bit better or something, I've mods for DS3 and Elden Ring to add the dash and it just feels better, like a dance.
After learning the lore of this fight, it’s like when I fight Sif now. I just feel so horrible. It’s an angry orphaned child lashing out at the world. Screaming “NO!!!”. It’s no different than the troubled kids/juveniles my girlfriend works with where the system has completely failed them.
Bloodborne is still the best soul game for me. Except for a hard game atmosphere and design can really scare you
Elden ring>
@@bbpoItergeist nah because elden rings magic is insanely overpowered, bleed builds make the game easier than even sekiro, there’s so many things that make the game easier that you have to limit yourself to only melee so the game becomes difficult. Bloodbourne, no matter what, is always difficult, it will always kick your ass
@@bbpoItergeist I think he said for him and for me is the same, bloodborne the best souls game, but I love elden ring
Dude, the screams of "NO!" every time it attacks is just pure terrifying
Didnt expect a newly uploaded Kos fight in 2022
Could anyone imagine trying to adopt and raise this “THING” instead of killing it.
@@bobafeet1234 Sekiro 1st Bloodborne a close 2nd
Sekiro when you know how to play almost every boss is Like a dance.. Simply amazing
Even Dark souls 1 and 3 are better than elden ring what are you talking about
@@bobafeet1234Sekiro combat is fucking boring
Bloodborne looks incredible on the PlayStation 5 I'd like to play both this game and the remake of Demon's Souls.
Alright, Elden Ring was great but Bloodborne always have special place in souls gamer.
People will say the same thing about Elden Ring after a few years.
@@smoker5989 idk man Elden Ring didn’t have the same badass OST that Bloodborne has
This game is 30fps/1080p. Never uodated to 4k or even 60 fps for PS4 PRO
You can tell this boss is insanely hard because even a guy who records fights is struggling, usually those guys make it seem easy but here it definitely did not
Incase you guys didnt realize it but that thing he has connected to his hand and also using as a weapon is a "placenta."
Ah looking forward for more Bloodborne content.
2) excellent ray tracing
3) keep the same controls (or make it better if they can)
4) Game runs from 60 to 120 fps.
That would be sweet ❤️!!
They don’t have to remake it completely
Just give it a free patch of performance boost
@@versatilelord8893 No! There is no performance patch! The game is still running at 1080p 30fps.
One of the best fights in any soulsborne game by far
My first ever Soulsborne, and got the platinum for it. Love this game ❤
I beat him on my second try. Maybe I was too overleveled when I fought him. Laurence on the other hand was a nightmare for me. I had my ass beaten by him more than 30 times
This one from bloodborne and Malenia from Elden ring was the hardest bosses ever in souls games for me
For me it is still Laurence, the first vicar, but Malenia is pretty though thou
Your forgetting
knight artorias, and kalmeet
Malenia was the only boss where I truly needed to adjust my playstyle and skills to beat her, such a tough boss
Fume knight and the dragon in the sunken city dlc are just as hard
You can cheese Orphan very easy with Parry
there is no 4k, it is deception and lies! There is only 1080/30
First time I beat this boss my heart was pounding so fast , epic battle.
Pizza of Kos
To Any bloodborne Veteran:
I just beat Elden Ring and am on my NG+10. I’ve NEVER played Fromsoft games before in my life, so when I discovered Elden Ring this past February, I fell into a deep love for a game unlike no other. So I ask you all?
Is this game worth it, would I like it like Elden ring or close to it?
Yes it is, I completed this DLC yesterday, man if you got PlayStation and Never played Bloodborne, you're in for treat🔥
This guy took all of Pfizer's boosters at once.
The Orphan?
In my opinion, the hardest boss in Bloodborne. Kos is like Midir of Dark Souls 3.
Imo this is the hardest ‘’mandatory” boss in the soulsborn series only topped by the last boss in Sekiro
Wait, wait, wait, wait.... there is no way one person is running this account fam. Is this person really playing all these games, and so well? Incredible lol
I broke my phone yesterday because of this boss XD
Still sublime in the amount of details with him, from the screams to the initial cry when he comes out to fight
I soloed it today, for the first time, on my 9th attempt, after i got the DLC yesterday because it was on a 50% sale. Absolute madness. Phase 2 though? I got so lucky…
Nice!
This guy along with the nameless king is DS3 where the first bosses I actually just said “no, fuck this, I’ll come back and beat it later.” Only to get absolutely pummelled another 30 ish times. Damn near broke me.
@@thatonelocalauthority2809 nameless king was much harder for me for some reason, probably because i played more bloodborne or the annoying delayed swings that reduce your health to 0 in 2 hits
The fact Bloodborne is still hard-locked at 30fps is criminal.
And stuck on the snoystation.
This guy should open a pizza place
Imagine if he destroyed a giant tower
its amazing that 99% of ppl who played this game never used transform-attacks...and so, loosing 50% dmg.
you can see the similarity in fighting style and voice between him and Gehrman. Can't help love this game ugh
Feeling upset? Bully an orphan. What are they gonna do, tell their parents?
The Orphan:
May the good blood guide your way
Bloodborne making the most grotesque, most terrifying, vomit inducing, monster just to call them "thomas, the first blender"

I regrettably started the DLC at NG+2.
Can't get past Ludwig. Any tips?
