I really like SR3, but I hold SR1/2 in _much_ higher regard as they stayed within the same type of formula. The gritty urban shootouts and drive-bys for control of turf is what got so many of us hooked on the franchise in 2006. I personally think the mantra of "Embrace the crazy; fun trumps all" is a double-edged sword. I've got no problems saying that SR3 was hella fun, but it was also incredibly shallow, and painfully silly in its attempts to differentiate itself from GTA. Nowhere in SR3 did I witness the depth of storytelling that SR1/2 had. Add to that, the amount of 'crazy' ramps up to nauseating levels when we're asked to do things like hijack laser-firing VTOL aircraft, take part in a televised wrestling match, and navigate a computer simulated Tron-like battlefield with a plasma arm cannon. SR3 showed us that the grounded style and atmosphere of the first two games was being left behind. Then came the ludicrously stupid and outlandish SR4; where we're now the *President of the United States and have to collect glowing clusters of energy to upgrade our superpowers in **_another_** simulation so we can fight off an alien hostile takeover.* Yeah... Embracing the crazy isn't always the best idea. In fact, sometimes you need to tell crazy to phukk right off.
I’m right there with you. While I really enjoyed my time with SR3, 1 & 2 are still better in terms of story and atmosphere to me. While I don’t have an issue with how wacky the third game got, the grounded nature really helped to give the game focus, something I thought was lacking in 3
Started playing saints row 2 again a few weeks ago on my pc. before that, i havent played saints row since about 2013... now im loving it again. saints row the third i did enjoy too. but for sure i like 2 better. also for you being a 'small' channel, you make amazing, clear, detailed content. keep at it
I personally think Saints Row 3 is the best. People can complain about the tonal shift but SR1 and SR2 still had that wacky tone underneath. Especially SR2. I mean ffs, Gat literally got STABBED and survived. So in my eyes, SR3 didn't really shift that much. (SR3 was my first and SR4 was my second so I am 100% biased lol but idc) Also, Sasha Gray is a damn good voice actress. I wish we had gotten more of Viola. I do like the rebooted game, but at the same time I wish we had gotten more of the OG timeline Something I appreciate about SR3 and SR4 is the driving. When I went to play SR1 and SR2 I was so offput by the atrocious driving mechanics lol
No Saints Row 3 is not the best. Everything that was good in Saints Row 2 is cancelled in 3. Especially the fact that Saints Row 2 was the last game with a good map. I mean you can revisit the prison, go in the shopping mall, all secret location, you can go in so much building. Saints row 3 has a boring map and you cant go in any buildings like in 2. Thats why the Reboot failed because you cant go in any buildings.
@intuitionedits2.032 I am right there with you brother SR3 was my 1st and totally fell in love with it and then SR4 was also amazing as well . Don't listen to these crybaby snowflakes they don't know what the F they're talking about lmao. SR3 & 4 are 100% the best in the series by far.
Played SR3 first, then 4, then came back to 1 and 2, in that order. Now I'm finishing up SR2 before playing Gat Outta Hell and then.... The reboot. Oh boy... I'm in for it now.
I enjoyed all the Saints Rows, apart from the very last one, which i didn't bother buying because bit just didn't look like a proper saints row game, nor did it have any of the previous characters from the originals such as Shaundi, Pierce, Gat, Viola, Oleg etc and just seemed more like a "woke" version of it, etc...and the fact that it didn't seem like their was any actual gang-warfare or anything. Atleast in Saints Row 3, the syndicate could've been made to be alot more sinister and powerful for the saints to handle and maybe of had you going back and forth between stillwater and steelport, I still liked and still like Saints Row 3, but just feel like killing off gat at the start (and loren to some extent too quickly) that it kind of bothced the storyline abit as they just made you fight killbane as the main villian instead of loren, such a waste in character development!. Then obviously we find out in Saints Row 4 that , Gat was abducted by Zinyak and his aliens....and then him saying thats how he survived all this time, whilst the other saints thought he was dead...seemed like such a cop out, i think in SR3 it could've been handled better, but i don't think its a BAD game , it still has its funny moments and serious moments in it. Honestly wish whomever owns Saints Row series now, will just re-master SR1 and SR2 and then make a new SR with the original characters and put things right, but i don't think thats going to happen anytime soon.... GTA games are good but, i don't feel like they have that whole "gang" feeling as the only gang you can really have is a Crew but thats as far as it goes...at least in Saints Row games you could take territory off of other gangs and actually lead your gang and make choices and all that, same with character creation, GTA has that too but very limited...
I agree a lot. Don’t think SR3 is a bad game but a lot of the things you mentioned could’ve been handled better, especially Johnny’s Death. It’s always interesting hearing people’s thoughts on SRIV. While I’m still working on that retrospective, I’m curious to hear more from the community. I’m with you about the remaster. While i don’t think anything’s going to happen with the Saints Row IP anytime soon, a remaster of the first two games would be fantastic. As long as all the content remains the same, but they tweak the gameplay a bit, that would be great. And a new SR with the OG cast would be even better. I also plan on covering the GTA games soon so it’ll be interesting comparing the two. San Andreas is like the closest to the gang feel that we get from SR
Ig I should praise the new youtube algorithm for promoting smaller channels, I wouldn't see this otherwise
Glad the video was able to find you. Hope you enjoyed🙏🏾

You must’ve be young and brainwashed who played 3, cause 3’s driving is horrendous
How lol 2 is way better everything in that game beats it
Getting stabbed and surviving is wacky? You hear yourself?

3 was the first one I played I was finna be 11 back of June of 2013 and I got in trouble for buying this but I never will regret it
I loved saints row 3 tbh played it online with mates a lot I get why ppl dnt like it as much tho
Yeah very divisive game. While its not the best one imo, it's still incredibly fun!

Oh boy... I'm in for it now.
That’s also how I played it at first although I dabbled with SR2 a little bit when it came out. Still need to get around to the reboot😬
I'm approaching it like it's just part of the ongoing story. It is what it is and at least the earth isn't destroyed anymore.
Criminally underrated analysis video
Appreciate that! It took a while to make but I’m happy with how it turned out and that people are still watching it almost a year later.
Saints Row The Third is my favorite of the series
This is an amazing video bro!!! ❤
No it's not, Saints Row the third is great
It’s ok
SR4 is the only SR game I've played and that game was AMAZING
Tbh it’s a really good game. I finished it not too long ago and had a blast!!

Who says it was bad?
Quickly. Yes it was that bad
