Stray Kids made this video in response to all of their haters and critics, who say SKZ are just a lot of noise and not worthy of being recognized as a good KPop group. With this video, they decided to make as MUCH noise as possible, while also sprinkling all kinds of references throughout the video making fun of their haters. The use of arms to mimic laughter, the use of crows flying around (in Korean culture, crows symbolize people who gossip and spread false information), the "Why you mad, why you sad" section, etc. They're basically saying "We like who we are, we like our group, we like how we sound, we like the messages and energy we bring to our performances, and we're not going to compromise for ANYONE." The people with masks are symbolic of haters who use the internet to hide / stay anonymous while posting hurtful and fake crap online. The MASSIVE popularity of the Thunderous song, MV and live performances are just proof that Stray Kids know what they're doing and are having the time of their lives while doing it.
The beginning bit of writing means 'All the sounds gather' but the first word of the sentence, 소리꾼, also means thunderous so they're playing on words which they actually do for a lot of their song :)
at this point I've looked at more than half of your reactions to them and this is what caught my eye: with all your love for the THUNDEROUS, most likely you never watched their video in costumes - it's a masterpiece, after which your face falls off from laughter 🤗 i'm not asking for reaction, just look at it in free time for fun, you won't regret this ⚡️⚡️⚡️ ⬇️ Stray Kids(스트레이 키즈) “소리꾼(Thunderous)” SKZOO ver. Performance Video Oh, and this song in general has insane amount of live performances : - HERO 🦸, - Christmas (🎄Felix with tap dance), - 2021 KBS song festival 🪭, - vampire dance practice 🧛- a lot of fun) all with different variations in choreography and serious music changes. There is even a "modest" version 🤵- they perform for the government (2020 EXPO) without Lee Know slapping members 🤣🤣🤣
I’m also not super well versed in korean culture but from what I gathered the blue fire is goblin fire and I’m pretty sure them at least in the red outfits are goblins as well. There is some lore and significance of goblin fire and territory that I’m not super sure about but maybe someone else will know more. At the beginning of the mv the story told in amination seems to be inspired by folklore specifically a painting of a kingdom and the sun (white) and the moon (red) (those are also present a lot in their other mvs and are important to the story they are telling throughout them) the legend tells of the sun going missing and that’s what the villagers are staring at the beginning. This also ties into the goblins but nobody really knows if they are supposed to represent the search for the sun or are there because the missing sun makes them stronger. You can also see throughout that they probably represent different timelines in different outfits, like when hyunjin is looking through a book and there is a drawing of goblin felix. Anyway lots of super great references and I’m sure there are many more that I completely missed because they are super embedded in Korean culture. When it comes to the producing the lyrics are written by 3racha (name inspired by sriracha sauce maybe that helps with the pronunciation) composition is also done by 3racha together with HotSauce an finally Arrangement is done by Bang Chan and HotSauce together
Yes, 3racha are the main producers (and often the only producers) of all of their music. They've been producing together since the youngest of them, Han was about 16 (he's turning 21 soon so about 4-5 years). Their level of talent is only enhanced by their writing chemistry and understanding of eachothers styles. They also have a very good understanding on how to write parts to perfectly fit each member while still challenging them and encouraging them to grow.
I always enjoy the vids where 3racha have working sessions. I enjoyed when they showed the production session they had with Ateez and BTOB in Kingdom too. They are all so talented but watching the way 3racha work together and interact is something special.
There is no song where Stray Kids was not credited so yes 3racha were the songwritter, composer, lyricists and even arranger of this song. By the way Chan just passed the line with this album of 100+ songs on KOMCA. 😏😄
Yes, I liked your insightful reaction! Most of your questions were answered already but the answer to your last question Do they put the " Stray Kids everywhere around the world you make stray kids stay" at the end of all their MVs is yes. STAY is their Fandom's name so SKZ are giving a shout out to us in each MV. Back Door also has the connected choreo to the instrumentation you noted here. SKZ have a variety of music types. You are going to enjoy getting to know them.
I suspect the filming location might be a place called Mungyeong Saejae (I could be wrong), but it's like an open filming set which is used in a lot of period Korean dramas and movies...they have a bunch of houses, pavilions, gates, palace, temple etc, almost like a whole town village, and I think it's open to tourists as well.
They included a lot of traditional instrumentation but made it sound a lot more modern and upbeat than what is usually done when used in modern kpop songs. I also love that they have a lot of traditional dances happening around them while they're doing their own thing 😂
I just wanted to comment that it seems like there is a playword with sorry and 소리 (sori, noise). So when they say I'm not sorry it could also mean I'm not noise. Also the album is no easy/noisy. And when they released the song side effects some people said that song was noise
Miroh, God's Menu, Thunderous and Back Door are all very a similar style that skz loves to go hard for but they actually have softer and quirkier, funkier, darker and sentimental sounds as well like Hellavator, Levanter (highly recommend you hear this one) and Awkward silence (these are just a few of the ones with mvs)
So that's the fourth reaction video of yours I watch, and I must say I love how tou break down the production content, and also I laughed several times during the video, I love your vibe and enthusiasm, and it's so heartwarming to see you fall into Stray Kids' charms song after song ❤ Can't wait to see if you have become a hard core STAY. And also, to know which is your favourite SKZ song so far, and you fav SKZ member.
Yes it was but you know, when I compare k pop to anime people get pissed off and say "They aren't japanese!!!" like *omg woah I didn't notice that the KOREAN pop idols weren't japanese* lmfao
14:35 is the korean lion dance. Originally, this lion dance was performed as part of a ritual to expel evil spirits and to pray for good fortune on the night of the first full moon of the year.
hi! i really like your reactions, you seem really informed about so many things (i can’t believe you picked out the haka in the miroh video and even showed a full clip of it!) and i know nothing about music/production/instruments so it’s cool to hear about it! if you don’t mind me recommending songs to react to later, i’d say Voices and Levanter for a different sound, as well as Side Effects, District 9, and My Pace. ☺️
I'm pretty sure this is one of the pallaces just outside of Seoul that is often used for MVs, movies, dramas and everything else. If it is that one, I'm pretty sure it's open to the public when nothing is being filmed there and you can go there as a tourist (the fact that skz said that they wish stays who have the chance visit where they filmed this makes me almost positive it is that exact pallace). There is also I believe 4 pallaces in Seoul itself (tho not all of those you can acces). One of them has a whole historycal village preserved around it and it's pretty much in the city center, right next to some universities so you can basically go back in time while in the heart of Seoul
That Korean instrument might be the gayageum, I could be wrong. It sounds like a string instrument, almost reminds me of a mandolin...whatever it may be, it's a really nice touch.
Gosh you’ve made this grandma happy that you’re reacting to more Stray Kids. Plus, I’m skimming all of the comments hoping someone answered all your questions because I was saying them out loud right along with you. Blessings from Louisiana!
