There's 8 of them, Han is missing in a lot of the choreo cause he pulled a muscle really badly while they were preparing and decided he'd step out so he could recover for promotions rather than making his injury worse.
Unfortunately, Felix has a herniated disc so he is doing minimal choreo during promotions so the 7 member choreo from the MV mostly stayed
Ahh that explains why he's barely in the choreo. Anyways hope they all recover.
The train represents your " train of thought?" The pizza is a Easter egg to their previous song Domino. If you noticed the lyrics during Felix and Seungmin's it said like a " torn doll soon the real you will be exposed" and you see the same strings and Felix cuts the strings with his fingers in the choreography which symbolizes the seam being cut and the things that are inside the doll( stuffing) coming out. Meaning stop trying to act as how society deems normal to be because soon your true self will be revealed so be true to yourself. Be " oddinary "

i'm so glad you visualized birds spinning over a cartoon, because that's exactly what changbin thought of while incorporating the chirping sound into the chorus! when you hit your head (the choreo during "maniac") too hard and birds fly around you (the choreo during the chirping and then they spin to make them dizzy)
I love how hands on they are in their production. They do often get input from other producers, but they're otherwise entirely self-written and self-produced, especially for this ODDINARY mini-album. The leader has done a couple streams talking about the behind the scenes process, and it was his idea for the bird tweet/drill sound combo, using a real drill sound and pitch-shifting it. Another producer who he often works with added a hoover over the top of the drill to deepen it, and hearing those kinds of details from the members themselves I just think is so freaking cool!
The middle-eastern vibes you're picking up on with the synth are also carried through a couple of the other tracks on the album, especially Charmer where they make a lot of illusions to snake charmers. I highly recommend the whole mini-album, each song is a different vibe and I love them all.
This is off their new mini album Oddinary that dropped at the end of March. This is a no skip album. All 8 songs are extraordinary. 4 of them have already been made into music videos and time will tell whether they will all become music videos cause Stray Kids likes to do that sometimes. You should definitely check out the videos for Venom, Lonely Street, and Freeze. But I also highly recommend you watch a lyric video for Muddy Water, because it’s one of the most unusual ( in a good way) hip hop songs I’ve heard in a long time
Three of the members (calling themselves 3racha) are doing most of the producing I believe, for all of straykids' songs. They are great c: Maniac has been playing nonstop for me since it came out, such a catchy and creative song! The lyrics are really cool as well in my opinion. Also they did indeed say that the bird part which is also in the choreo are meant to be the birds after being hit! I assume the thread is connected to the lyrics in the first brain sections! I would love an intro reaction to straykids
There were 9 members for the first year and a half, then one left.
Now there are 8 permanent members.
The video and the lyrics actually sync pretty perfectly in this video, and because I know you’re the guy who is so absorbed in the production that you only pay about 10% of your attention to what the lyrics are actually saying I’m going to break it down for you. The song is about how people are “cosplaying as what society decides is normal,” when inside actually all of us are maniacs. So during some scenes you have normal places you might be: a diner, on the train, a jog through an urban neighborhood. But then other scenes show these “normal” places in a bizarre and twisted way, because the song is about how nothing is how it seems on the outside. The strings refer to the lyric about how we are all just stuffed dolls looking one way but filled with something else and how if you cut the thread that holds the doll together what is on the inside will be exposed. There is also the part of the video that takes place in I.N.’s brain. The brain is filled with all his crazy inner thoughts that he doesn’t necessarily let show. The drill sounds have to do with the lyric about having a screw loose, because what do you use to tighten or loose screws quickly? The bird noises have to do with the end of the music video where they’re back to cosplaying as normal and the bird that was flying around in the maniac world is locked tightly up in a cage.

Yess they did the deadpool performance... not sure about the Venom movie cause there's been no talk of it yet (I wouldn't completely exclude the possibility) but yes, their songs Venom and Freeze from this album also have MVs

Hi, this was lots of fun! Love the concept of the MV and the lyrics hit home.
For me the message is that we are all the same in that we all have a little odd even though we apear ordinary.
Skz are heavily self produced. They have a producing sub unit called 3 Racha and they have produced over 90% of Skz tracks. They also write their own lyrics and music. Really enjoyed listening to Maniac with you today. 🌞
Thank you so much for your reaction to Stray Kids. I am sure there is not accidentally done with their arrangement in the production of this title track like you mentioned. Their producing group, 3Racha reviewed in one of the promotion interview that they particular spent more time on this song after they decided to choose Maniac as the title track. Stray Kids never skip or cut corner regarding to their creating/producing process. They are the best self producing group in Kpop imho.

But yes, Stray Kids are big Marvel fans, and they sprinkle comics inspiration here and there, as well as the Deadpool hommage in their Kingdom performance of Blackpink's Duddu-duddu-ddu x God's Menu.
The pizzas, train, and bike all floating symbolise the elements of ordinary life we saw in the MV (the metro, diner and Chan at the start on the bike). Them floating symbolises that Stray Kids have accepted their "ODDINARY" side (the name of the album) and are letting their inner Maniacs loose, being themselves. If you read the lyrics to the song, the whole music video makes a bit more sense, because it does jump around a bit.

Getting to know Stray Kids is a great idea. So talented, so unique and interesting backgrounds. This whole Album is 10/10 and 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Album of the Year. the blonde boy that drilled the screen is called felix! he isn’t in the dance because at the moment he has a back problem, he will be okay soon and is also part of the main dance line :)
... FYI, he was literally at the front of that choreography doing his vocals, he had no choice but to be present. Lol Han was the one missing because of an injury
i suggest you correlate the lyrics to the scenes since it's mostly transliterate/interpretative, and it's a bonus when you learn more about skz's stages/song narratives/mv theories coz they can be inferential.
the diner could be god's menu reference since they did have restaurants there, except this one is a diner. MV wise, it's the "normal world" where we look the same coz we follow societal standards. maniac is retrospective, hence the brain, the inverted world, and animations. the floating train had me thinking of "DERAILED TRAIN OF THOUGHT", the web/strings if you saw the member cutting them in that one dance scene, it's the the strings controlling a puppet. it could also be Venom coz Venom is getting caught in a web concept.
intro vids are diverse and will always fall short, but i think you should avoid memeful guides coz they have too many inside jokes you wont understand (plus thirst clips) you'll learn more on wikipedia tbh. but there's two vids i like tho: "Stray Kids Guide 2021" by Parme_Han_Cheese that is jampacked with their discography samples as it introduces the members to you, has less text as well. there's also a "Stray Kids World Domination Documentary" by Icetye that gives a more narrative introduction to skz's history. both are at least 50mins. -that's just my suggestion :)
I'm guessing that you already know that there are 8 members, but there's a part when you stop in 6.22 and count 7 members.
Han had a doctor's appointment if I remember right (such an INSANE FAN I may seem saying that... OMG!!!) so he wasn't in this specific scene when they were dancing. They fixed the choreo that day to fit 7, instead of 8...
btw love how u react, love how u take notice of the visuals, dances and track!! and yea, their multiverse takes a lot of inspo from the spiderman, deadpool and venom movies bcs chan (leader and main producer) loves them a lot. when they did the deadpool homenage stage with "God's ddu ddu" Jake Gyllenhaal actually said he was a big fan of the group and him and chan had a conference meeting so who knows if deadpool x skz might trully happen

Loved your breakdown and opinion on the music production of this song! It's a pretty impressive effort from SKZ. I'd love to see a Stray Kids guide! I recommend maybe Teanosugar (even though it's longer) which should give you a bit more info and insight into their producing team - 3racha - and all the members skill sets.

I was waiting for this reaction!! I'm a new STAY so I don't know everything about them.. but I'm obsessed with this song and the album.. it's really a no skip album for me. I hope you'll check out the whole album sometimes.. also another 3 of their b-sides lonely st, venom and freeze also have mvs, if you want you should check them out..
The concept of this album is oddinary, like it's okay to not be ordinary from the perspective of society, and it's okay to be odd one.. (something similar to this).. and you can see this throughout the album..

Comparing to freeze and venom by stray kids this is nothing... I have listened to freeze and venom for thousands times but I am still unable to overcome this.... 💙S͓̽t͓̽r͓̽a͓̽y͓̽K͓̽i͓̽d͓̽s͓̽💙are so fire... They are kings...
Please react to venom by stray kids it has some of my all time favorite production that they have ever done it something I could never listen to everyday but it is so addicting that I ended up putting up in my everyday playlist. Yes they did do a performance based on deadpool Ryan Reynolds even invited bang Chan to the premiere to his movie and sent him signed alcohol.
