"Anyone who has ever struggled with poverty knows how extremely expensive it is to be poor"
--James Baldwin
Not true, its not expensive to be poor, it sucks to be poor.
If you see statistically, middle class or upper middle class like us pay high taxes.
Rich people know how to invest money tax free, cus they have lawyers to guide them.
Best example is Amazon, they pay little to no Fed tax cus they re-invest their profits into research & development within their company.
A normal business owner cannot do that.
I know it sucks to be poor. It costs too much. You can't do what you want to do financially.
@@MK-xn6qx you obviously never heard of the poverty cycle. That the system set up to keep the poor down and poor it really is expensive to be poor. It’s easier to be upper middle class or well off.
@@soraya.e5482 Can't complain like poor people but it sucks to be paying 20K just in Fed taxes and getting no refunds. That's what is the life of a person who thinks is making more but end up paying more taxes cus he/she cannot include deductible.. especially when single or married filing separately.
There is no denying that Poor people are stuck in this cycle and have no access to anything good. Actually it sucks to be anyone except a millionaire, Billionaire.. they make more, they have good tax accountants, good way to evade law etc. seem like Law applies to only us
@@MK-xn6qx your right being billionaire or millionaire is the best. But since that is like 1 percent and not what most people are if I had to choose middle class vs poor i would choose middle class every single time. Because when your in middle class you have some chance of a better life. But when your poor. It’s almost as if there is no way out and your children will be the same.
The problem with this recession is the amount of older professionals that won't be able to get back into their profession. Also, this will led to even more wage stagnation and disparity.
I'm worried my kids will take care of us as we age and choose not to have kids. They already talk about it even though have a pension and 403b!! They are worried in their 20s
@@tamekaosabutey-aguedje411we shouldn’t burden our kids to take care of us. We must do what we have to, to take care of ourselves and let them live their own lives
Well your generation f@cked up and sleep walked into this. This garbage should have been fixed in the 90s, but I guess its up to us younger people to do it.
I'm tired of calling this a recession,this is a depression over 30 million unemployed isn't a recession.
Our biggest pandemic right now is our government, they don't care about us😭😭
I think the pandemic has taught people the importance of multiple streams of income unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security.
Political parasite playing politics with people's life they don't care.
My advice to everyone right now is to invest in cryptocurrency💲as it's more profitable.
All this is just a game, shame on the government in how they just simply play with all of us American citizens,is all a joke
Meanwhile the government bickers endlessly about whether to give us pennies or nothing at all. Heartbreaking, this reality.
And keep funding pretend wars & give billions to countries like Israel

Its all about keeping shareholders happy.
But it benefits the rich. Republican's know to screw their fellow Americans while holding themselves above the law.
@@lunaazule1899 Unfortunately, it is the Democrats that are the rich! Amazon Bezos, Microsoft Gates, the owners of Facebook, Google, and others in the tech industry. You are looking at the wrong people. Why are they not giving you an equitable share of $6,000.00 since this will cost you over $6, 051 dollars divided among the 300,500,000 population of the USA! You need to tell Pelosi top stop shipping the money elsewhere across the world, and sending some back to her in kickbacks.
But these corporations are owned by the 'average person' via their pensions and investments! It is benefiting the 'average person' as it is stopping their life savings from collapsing and protecting their jobs (directly and indirectly).
In Ireland people like this catering couple are considered “essential frontline services” - and they are paid above minimum wage from the Covid fund. This musician would be offered a “ pivot “ to a Carer role, trained and paid for it because of people skills and musical skills... Can’t believe how slow USA is at getting this together. Greed...? Ineptitude..?
It is called liberty. Our constitution gives us the power (which is being eroded by the current Democratic administration) to be free from the govt. The musician is free and autonomous. He does not pay taxes into the unemployment insurance fund . Thus he does not receive insurance benefits. His choice in how he works.
The benefits law passed this year was ad hoc. As is the pandemic response . My (Democratic party majority state ) gave away $60,000,000 in benefits to Nigerian and Russian internet thieves. Thus people like the musician, haven’t received benefits because of government incompetence.
But not to worry about the job of the bureaucrat in charge of the $60 million theft. She was not fired and has moved on to a promotion in the Biden administration. Government incompetence pays well. Especially if you are a political appointee of the Democratic party.

@@mcdonaldmollusca8376 this is 4 years of Republicans. They always leave a mess for Dems to fix and each time it's worse than the last.
Def not ineptitude. They are quite good at stealing our tax dollars.
Every time there is a call for government to help the people there are frantic calls that this help means "socialism".
In the US there has been emphasis on the individual rather than the good of all. So, much that is a systemic
problem is blamed on individual failures, and the population doesn't look to the big picture. Capitalism is revered
even when it is obviously not working.
The one woman said she will work 4 jobs if she has to, as she has done it before. Yes, her resilience and tenacity are admirable. But it's still sad that people have to live a 3rd world life in a 1st world country.
The united states is indeed a first World country but the system is soo broken I never understood that. Nobody should have to work 4 jobs never.
I've seen people take on multiple jobs when they could have chosen 1 job that came with overtime pay!
Eh? I live in a so-called 3rd world ( a.k.a. developing nation ) in Southeast Asia and you'll find that MOST people don't hold 2 jobs. I think you'll find the same in Central and South America where people are generally more laid back.
i had to move where their are housing and job sence i retire on a job after 32 years i had many job line i get a phone every month if wanted to work for them
When the rich have money it doesn't trickle down. They hoard it and ration it out to people who have nothing - paying them wages commensurate with what they can get away with it, and leaving them in a life of solitude. In order to break from that cycle you have to work hard, be creative, don't mess up ever, keep your head down, etc. The stars have to align sometimes in order for some people to get out of the cycle that they are in. The whole system is rigged in a way that if you are down you stay down because of interest, credit scores, poor education, fines etc and if you are up it's hard to go down because banks and hedge funds will pay you just for being rich, you live in a resilient resourceful peaceful neighborhood, you have access to the best education, etc.
This is just a terrible situation for so many people.
This has been going to happen since the 1970's when the Vietnam War was not funded, and to be paid for later by others later in life, they found how bad that was in 1978 to 1982.

Doesn't mean 2008 affected them adversely. A lot of people are not affected by some economic downturns. Depends on the industry.
@@divinemissw if not directly then indirectly, the entire global economy was shaken up by it given the fact that people, governments and corporations love to invest in the US

Very true 🤔
Ageism is very real. Shout out to the citizens of Mount Airy.
I am 73, I work everyday because I want to, my father taught me early how to use my brain and hands, he also told me to be prepared as employment is always changing.
It's the small businesses and the lower income level workers we should be worried about the most. They need to survive. They have to survive.
It looks grim for those two types of people. First of all, small businesses don't get tax breaks, subsidies, and financial bailouts the larger companies do. And "essential workers" that are classified as such cannot claim unemployment insurance if they choose to quit for health reasons, but they also are the lest likely to have health insurance. Finally, tenant evictions are sky high, because while there was a stop on evictions, that only applied to tenants that didn't have an arbitration clause in their renting agreement (which is to say, 99% of them), so tenant evictions occured at a historically highest rate. Because no court was needed, only an arbitration decision was needed which was then handed to the sheriff's department.
Labor is on shaky ground. Even health care services have within the past year renegotiated worker contracts, with health care practitioners losing their health care. I can see almost all US workers accepting lower wages and entirely foregoing health insurance, as that has already happened to a bit more than half of US workers. Unhealthy unemployed workers with sky high evictions is now the new normal.
I know some states have already raised unemployment taxes substantially higher, some as much as 97% so that on top of all the other taxes they are going to be hit with are devastating.
@@katiestans2824 Companies that use independent contractors don't pay unemployment insurance or medical benefits. Maybe work as a contractor?
@@langhamp8912 wasn’t just talking about independent contractors.
@@katiestans2824 I mean to say, most jobs are now contract work, especially in the medical field. More than half of jobs in the US are contract work. Thousands of truck driving jobs go unfilled every year. I would urge anyone wasting time waiting for the government to rescue the American people to please consider joining our industry. Many if not most of us (American Truckers) have not only not missed as much as one day during the pandemic. In fact, we have earned bonus money for working during this time. Many of our fellow citizens have spent an amount of time in excess of the time required to train for and obtain a commercial drivers license, and by now had more than six months experience under their belts. I'VE NEVER IN A MILION YEARS WOULD HAVE BELIEVE THAT ONE DAY I WILL SEE PEOPLE STARVE IN AMERICA.
Why? There’s food insecurity in every country.
In Dublin there is a stark saying:- "The rent eats first". Starvation is rare as many people can access food sources at very low or no cost from the voluntary sector but you do hear of people neglecting themselves through mental health issues, abuse or drug related neglect which often leads to them needing social, judicial or medical intervention. Poverty manifests itself as homelessness, insecurity leading to acts of violence or theft and abuses from other people of various sorts. Irish people in general have memories of historical periods of absolute poverty and want and only in recent decades have some of the people risen to among the wealthiest on the planet. This newly found wealth has had mixed results, some people have become more individualistic and selfish, others have become more generous in sharing out their good fortune. In general people are not happier and many are more worried than previous generations.

The only reason why People see this depression now is because when the People who knew what was going to happen was speaking. The ones who thought that this was a game was being disrespectful saying that the People who knew was crazy. Young People get fired wayyy before old People. The old People is not the problem. The jobs and who is the hiring Staff is the biggest problem. The Human Resources send People on low paying jobs knowing the People have always come to work and earned high paying jobs. If they are replaced. All ages based on if they will work can have a fair chance at receiving the pay that they earn. I had a Supervisor tell me that he would hire one of our Employees that was in his 70's wayyy before a younger Person. He stated the older Man always came to work, was never late, and could stay at the job for sixteen hours at times without one complaint. The young People call off after two or three checks. They are late most often. They have children and dysfunctional relationships that affect their work. I think older People are going to be just fine in the workplace that shows up for work during their scheduled times. The young People need to be the ones that are worried. I been working.
