Miss when some simple gameplay was enough to make me want to go out and get a game
This was so mind blowing as an Fallout 1 and 2 player. I was so hyped and fallout 3 didnt disapoint in any way. Was a realy realy great game.

Also surprising how they launched the game exactly how it looked on E3 specially in that era of gameplay trailers and E3 demos when sometimes you played a completely different game than what was shown

Love how it wasn't tons of marketing pre scripted speeches it was just todd saying "yeah here's the game. You can do this, this, this and this, it's cool buy it see ya". Not talking about how the game has the highest detailed human elbow ever in gaming with over 10000 dedicated elbow polygons.

Explosions like that tend to be the thing that melt the game and cause crashes in early builds, which is what this version most likely is. Big no, no for games demo's.
@@bootlegpete7984 yeah, that’s true. i just figured they would’ve “doctored” up the demo and pulled a halo 2 with all the scripts. but i actually really appreciate this demo because it’s pretty much what we got at launch.
Probably wanted to show the Enclave in their Uniforms and Armor too.

5:05 looks like some of the NPC scripting bugged and saw their own turret as an enemy so todd was just confused what had happened to the turret LMAO
Actually it went frenzied. Turrets have a sweet spot that when hit, it attacks allies. Since Todd used a shotgun, the spray accidently frenzied the turret.
@@mer_meh funny how i never notice in my over hundreds of hours of playing since i just destroy turrets near instantly lol but you CAN NOT TELL ME that THIS 4:17 was a 24% chance hit they definitely made it so vets didn't miss during this presentation lol

Thank you for uploading this. These gameplay demos are like historical archives now - I remember watching this in 6th grade! What a classic era of gaming. Everything was so exciting. I could hop from this, to WaW Zombies, to CoD 4, to Halo 3 Infection lobbies, to GTA IV, all while in a party chat with my friends. Time is strange, man.

It's crazy that a game this old still gets me hyped, i've played it for 85 hours recently in less than two weeks... And it was my fourth run!
Theres simply NO modern game that hits me like that, and its not about nostalgia cause i've played it for the first time in 2021 at the age of 18 and Fallout 4 was my first experience in 2016. Even though 4 is the one i've played the most, my favorite is Fallout 3.
If you want a great singleplayer experience, even in 2024. Fallout 3 is a great game. MILES ahead of literally 99% singleplayer games released in the past 15 years . I'm talking crap like new Resident Evil and God of War games with boring old mechanics from 2005 and boring stories. Dunno why they are being praised so much nowadays...
Get FO3 and NV and your entertainment is being cared of for a couple of years of chilled gameplay.
And talking about stories. FO3 was great ever since Broken Steel. Where you just get through the main quest line and then do whatever you want. It's streamlined for a reason.
But in the og FO3 you couldn't play after the ending. And the game's reputation is still tainted because of that to this day.
Fallout 3 is my favorite game in the series, so I'm really glad to see part of its history being preserved like this, thank you so much!

The Xbox 360 was my first console and Fallout 3 was the first game I picked up. I can remember watching this exact presentation back then and it was the reason I bought the game.
Fun fact, this demo crashed and someone back stage (Pete Hines) had to take over halfway through the presentation

I can’t believe it took me until 2012 to finally play NV and FO3 to this day my pops and I still play these games.
Wish i can go back to these days 😢 i remember my cousin playing fo3 shortly after it released when i was a kid and i was absolutely blown away from the graphics and the fact its open world and can play it different ways . I asked for a xbox for Christmas i ended up getting it along with fo3 and i spent sooo many hours playing it .. wish i could experience walking out of vault 101 and seeing the Washington monument again for the first time .. good times this game is the best

Fallout 3 is the GOAT
I remember seeing this years ago when it first came out, it got me excited to check out Fallout since I never knew the series existed beforehand. I only had a 360 for about 6 months after Halo 3 came out, so the only other Bethesda game I had was Oblivion. This demo though short, really set the tone for Bethesda's fallout going forward, but it also showcased how much Todd was wanting to stick close to how the original Classic Fallout game felt to play, but in first person.
Regardless of how I feel about Fallout 3 overall, I still love this demo and Todd explaining game mechanics we all know about as if they were knew, because they were.
The way they handled the enclave really needs a overhaul in 3, hopefully a remake will get it right

Fallout 3 had technical issues and the way Bethesda made that game pissed many Fallout 1+2 gamers off.
I liked it, it wasn´t a masterpiece like all Bethesda games but I like the freedom in their games, the overall design and the endless modding possibilities.
On the other hand you always have outdated graphics (even then, Crysis 1 came out a year before F3...), mediocre writing, mostly boring quests and cluncky gameplay.
These things didn´t change,.
Companies wanted money back then, companies want money today. But the market had grown up massively. Much more money involved, millions of players more, with individual tastes, demands and wishes. It´s much harder to make a game nowadays and please customers.

@@Glumbus1 So? Crysis showed the possible and it wasn´t the only game, which looked way better than F3 in that time, and again - it came out a year earlier.
My point isn´t to say, that everything has to be as good looking as the current NASA-PC game but Bethesda never was in the same tier as state of the art graphics, not even close.
Graphics aren´t the most important thing for a game and Bethesda games have their own strenghts like I mentioned. You know what you get with their titles and that is good and bad simultaniously.
But to the point of the first comment - developers don´t care more or less today about gaming and their customers. It´s more a question of change in the studios. When companies grow, things will change, not always for the better. That was the same 20 years ago.
