We're Going Drag Racing! Prepping My 1971 Dodge Demon 340 For The Strip, And A Shakedown Run

- On today's episode, we finally learn if I'm any good at building small blocks or not - and the answer? Maybe. In any case, this recently assembled, temporarily-360-powered 1971 Dodge Demon 340 is a fully operational battle station. Maybe even more astounding than that is the lack of fluids leaking on the ground. Unlike the previous configuration, the clutch actually works, and the shifter is bolted tightly to the rest of the car. I'm thinking all of this could help contribute to something approaching a respectable 1/8th mile time... but we'll have to find that out the hard way.

Awesome! Now I don't have to cringe when you get nasty with it knowing the original numbers matching 340 is safe at home!🤣 👍
Me neither! Haha
Very pretty purrrrrr form the new, used, old, original, magical sound when everything is just right. Great Job!!! Peace
Well this makes a Saturday stuck at work a hell of a lot more tolerable, great job on the car bud!
Great job on the build it sounds nice, happy and ready to race. The demon cleans up good! Enjoyed the drone footage 😁
Great views with the drone ! Great editing, thanks for the humor.
Well thanks for a video on the Demon Jamie, was good to see it again. Summer's on it's way, ain't quite here yet though.
Close to 10K already! Thats a nice surprise. Ive been here for a while, always enjoy your content.
You did great with footage. Not to mention, the tune sounds perfect.
It's a good looking car. Look forward to seeing it run at the track
Pinging could be because of the over rich. You probably already figured that, just putting in my 2 cents. She do sound healthy. Good job.
You did a great job building the 340..i believe it will make you happy..it would me..see you on the next one Cheers 🥂🥂🥂🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
This is the first time I've seen sun in one of your videos. That car is beautiful
Great sequence with the drone footage and instrumental jams!
Loving the new intro style. Short sweet and to the point!
I like, too, but, I hope not lose the uniqueness of this channel. Prime content. 👍👌
I’m still playing with intro style. I liked the long form intro but no one else did according to analytic data. Haha. I think the quick teaser at the beginning is a good way to grab people. Not planning on changing anything else! I definitely don’t know how to change myself 😅
@@DeadDodgeGarage we love you just the way you are jamie!
That drone work though 😍
Something about working thru a list seems things turn.out better.
360 engine sure sounds like it's ready to party, and no worries of mortally wounding a numbers matching block!
Drone footage is a cool addition.
Same clutch setup I want to use, seems like the way to go.
Been using studs on the termostat housings for years- if using bolts I do a depth check, thread chase, etc then check bolt length- seems to work
Sweet demon you have there .
Sounds good!
(@ 16:55 minutes) I agree graffiti character on the wall, that's a fine looking automobile.
Sweet car!!
Awesome Mopar.
For a leak-free thermostat housing on Mopar small blocks, I've had good results using Fel-Pro gaskets and thin coats of Permatex Spray-A-Gasket on both sides of it... Then hand tightening a little more than I normally would care to. Re-tighten if necessary after driving a few miles as it might take a couple of cycles to get it all totally leak free. I certainly don't have your level of knowledge but one might find this info useful...
I usually use Right Stuff for thermostats, but I think my partner installed this one with the gasket dry. There seems to be a bolt problem as well with one of them not wanting to move anymore. I’ll let it be for now… the leak fixed itself. Haha.
would replace the short waterhose if i was you .. its in explode mode .. lol
Got the wife to subscribe purely for the beard removal. Although she did state, "I don't want him to cut all his hair off, it'd be weird."
Success is so sweet 🎉
Nice ride, funny seeing Aberdeen in a video not Cobain related.
Right? We do other things here. Haha. With all of the negativity in, around and about this place, if I can do something to show people that it’s not necessarily what they think, I will.
Well, now I know why the stock clutch in the 69 Charger is so damn heavy.
I would really like to see this car go down the track.
You will, as soon as weather lines up with a test and tune!
Sounds Kool. Would like to see in person.
I'm glad that drag racing is still happening. On a completely different topic, have you seen Montage of Heck, about Kurt Cobain?
I haven’t seen that somehow, but am well familiar with Nirvana and Cobain history.
Success and 10k subs might be scary 🤔
I know. It’s probably going to go right to my head.
Car is looking real good, might be a while before you can get to the track though...rain rain rain.
Yeah… sure looks that way. But a man can dream.
Man the 360 sounds GOOD!!!
I know!! I almost don’t believe it.
Those Aluminum heads should help make more beans...
Actually? The iron headed 360 seems to make a lot more power than the aluminum headed 340 did. There are a lot more factors involved than just the head material.
@@DeadDodgeGarage yes 100% and alum. heads dissipate heat better, CFM flow better, compression, unshrouded valves and also add more timing... Now you saw what port matching does with stockers you did my comment was wish you'd add those aftermarket heads (aluminum) as you and UTG just admitted O.E. only goes so far. ʕ´• ᴥ•̥`ʔ If you decide to drag race Dale's Dart those aluminum heads will pay dividends.
Wanted to point out the rear wing on these doesn't look tacky like a ricer chabudai
Just bought my DDG Merch!
Thank you!!
@@DeadDodgeGarage I'll rep it proudly here in TX.... and the sticker will go on my tool cart.... sorry.... no stickers on my snap on box.... lol.....
Great job! I love it. I have never heard of removing that clutch spring with the new style pressure plates. Now I have to ge check my challenger to see if it's still there. And if you want that thermostat housing to never leak you gotta use indian head. But then you know the consequences of that. And that's why you're probably not using that stuff. I don't use it anymore either.
My favorite thing about that stuff is the steak sauce smell. I usually use right stuff these days but I don’t think this one got any
Shave your beard?!?! No way dude! It looks great, and I doubt your face looks better... You were just kidding, right?
My wife is very curious what my chin looks like… I kind of am, but my daughter isn’t 🤣
Keep the beard 🧔♂️
What is the specs of the Cam? Sounds good
It’s the Thumpr 20-602-4, .507/.494 lift, 243/257 @.050, 107 LSA… I’m listening to it idle right now. I absolutely love it
@@DeadDodgeGarage Awesome!
👍🏻🇦🇺💯⛽️
So how many do you need?
At least one more.
ya ,…. the beard is getting to be the wrong colour
It always was 😭 it should have been red instead of blondeish skunk stripe and brown
Plz dont shave your beard and hair lol just build the cuda up nice and pretty. Not enough of them on the road anymore.
Surprised by the few people who have told me not to 😅 i won’t shave my head but the hair needs to go
