There are two kinds of people in this world: Those that recognize the absolute lyrical and musical masterpiece "Dogs" is...and the rest of those fools.
My favourite Floyd album. Stellar choice- prepare to be gobsmacked.
Incredible concept album
Really? Ahead of Dark side...?
@@endapian Beyond Dark Side.
Pink Floyd have to many great albums. All my favourites on different days. (Except garbage without Roger😮)
Far better than the album that followed it.
The greatest pink floyd song of all
Unfortunately.
absolutely!~!!
I agree - except that I prefer the original mix.
@@stixstudios3380 Agree, not a big fan of remasters and remixes.
@@stixstudios3380 I agree about the original
Gilmour is such a master and he is known not only for his playing but the super knowledge of knowing what notes NOT to play.
I agree, I read where somone said the important thing is what you do between the notes
Well yeah I can't wait for your take on thier catalog!¡! Good luck on your journey. @alansmith7626
There are so many great shredder guitarists these days. But can any of them play lines like this? Technique is great and David's doesn't suck. But musicality must win out.
David Gilmore Guitar Icon, probably plays slower then most of the greats yet says so much more in his solo's!!!
As I recall, David was asked why he plays so slow compared to some contemporaries and he said I don't like to play fast...

"Dogs" Is Their Finest Hour... My Favorite Prog Album. Ever.
The lyrics in this whole album are incendiary
OK William Miller.
@@thomashartmann2891Chapeau, sir 😂
"who was broken by trained personnel" is a bizarrely funny/weird line, perhaps because the tune makes the accents land in such odd places. ;) Yes, the lyrics on the entire album show the Floyd at their most angry and acerbic.
Every time i hear the beginning of "Dogs", it gives me chills because i know what's coming...musical genius.
That fade in acoustic guitar and the synth...masterful. My personal favorite from PF and they have so many great tracks it's hard to pick one.
The seed for the Album is Orwell's Amimal Farm. The first time I heard this album was during my first proper experience with LSD. Yeah. On vinyl no less. I waited a good while before asking someone if there was barking on the track. Was relieved to find out there was. As was common, there was a split between Gilmour and Waters on vocals that often came with an emotional transition. The end from the "Who was Breaking Away from the Pack" with the vocal repeat echo" to the finish....You could pitch a movie just based on that.
As all others have said a complete and utter masterpiece. Floyd had “It”, what ever it is. The talent, the songwriting, the scope and majesty of their production, virtually unmatched. Glad we have these albums as their legacy. Enjoyed your commentary Lee. ❤
I was lucky enough to know Richard and spend time with him.. A truly beautiful and tender soul.
Yes. "Richard mutherfuckin Wright".
Because no other reaction video host _ever_ sez so.
This was my favorite time seeing them live. We had seats in the rafters and lo and behold the pig flew right past us at eye level 😊❤🎉
I envy you
that's very cool moment
I FUCKING LOVE this LP!!!❤❤❤
A Definite Hall of Fame "Wake and Bake Masterpiece"! 🔥💯☕🌞🎸🎶🎵
Thank you Brother 🫵🤘♥️
I grok!
I saw the 1977 Animals Tour in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium. So many tripping French speaking people!!! And one of the best concerts of my life.
Every time I tripped people started speaking French and wouldn't stop for hours. 😊
OH WOW..!!! I WAS THERE JUST FRONT LEFT OF THE SOUND STAGE.
BEST CONCERT I EVER EXPERIENCED 👊🖖
lucky woman..."the" concert of animals tour
My favorite Pink Floyd album. It’s perfect front to back
Love the reaction and the talk. The power this band had to make people think and reflect on their own situation and the world around them, regardless of the topic, was indeed their superpower. NOBODY did it better. The writing the atmosphere the emotion.. everyone involved provided just what was needed. There will never be another Pink Floyd.
Great job!!
Their last true collab effort. Amazing!
Credit where it's due: "The music was written in 1974 by David Gilmour and Roger Waters, with lyrics by Waters"! I feel Waters doesn't get his full due for actually writing these amazing stories that Floyd performs...
Great reaction Lee, relating Waters lyrics to events in our (un)real world!!!
Thank you for mentioning Roger Waters. The founder and creator behind Pink Floyd.
Don't worry he's made lots of money.
This is the best Pink Floyd album for sure. You're gonna love it
So far so good! This was amazing!!
Gods!!
The Wall is better for me ❤
"And it's too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around". Such great lyrics! I love this album!
Saw this tour in Kansas City 1977. Best concert I've seen.
"He was dragged down by the stone." If you listen to the first part of the song, the last line goes "the bad blood dries and turns to stone". This is my favorite PF album simply due to it's combination of uncompromising angry lyrics and sonic moods. The combination is killer. I especially love the barking keyboards toward the end. As I'm sure you know, all PF albums need to be listened to in their entirety. If you're going to finish this album, may I suggest you listen to Dogs again off the video and then start the video afterward. It will help get the feel for the entire album. You're killing it on this channel. Thank you.
To me this is their best song 🟤
The lyrics have more impact on me at 60 than they did hearing it when it was released.
I am 56 this year and and i know exactly what you mean.
Yep. Even more relevant today.
More scary, too, because when this came out people were less trusting of big corporations and knew them more for what they are. Now-a-days, people tend to either be completely ambivalent, ignorant, or they actually buy into the corporate propaganda and think the corpo's are beneficial.
Because you're more mature now and understand the depth and complexity of these lyrics along with an incredible sound that these four geniuses put out
All music aside, stay clean, my man...
I've got 30 years. Once upon a time, I never thought I could ever make it one day.
Using the Heil talk box here and on pigs another3, is the first time the public gets to hear it. Months later, Joe Walsh would Rocky Mt. Way, and a year later, Frampton goes wild with it. The same tech ends up developing into "pitch correct" a few years later (79) making out of tune dancers and models able to sing with a band, and boom , you have pretty people for a new thing called MTV.
This is probably my fave PF album, I had personalized plates in high school in the '80s and had ANIMLS on them. Great track, but as many people are saying, it is definitely an album that needs to be heard as a whole because so many of the songs are longer form. This track is a bit bittersweet for me. My dad has been a salesman his whole life, and for me, growing up, this is sort of how I've seen him. He bought in to that world. "Dragged down by the stone". Thanks for the reaction Lee, hope you enjoy the album.
I'm definitely gonna go in order! This was a fantastic start. I can't wait to hear the rest! I'm glad you enjoyed my friend. A lot of folks are blinded by money... a lot. I'm glad I was shown from a young age that there is more then just what is front of me.
Gilmour has more fantastic guitar work on this song than on any other.
Oh yeah! Dogs is a masterpiece...
I'm so old, I had this on 8-track tape when it came out.
PS: album is based on "animal farm" by George Orwell.
Remember how they combined Pigs On The Wing parts one and two into one song? Only the 8-track did that.
Also it was Snowy White doing the solo on the combined Pig On The Wing
8 track in the car of ummagumma got a lot of stares
Me too
They were so ahead of their times. Phenomenal band
I think that this is Nick's best album.
My favorite Floyd song, killer song, wish I could like this 100 times
I'm in recovery as well. Music has really helped me in getting clean too. Very much the first year I listened to so much music, especially when I had to be alone. Dogs is such an epic song. It never feels too long and I've probably heard it hundreds of times by now
I was 16 when this was released, it's my favourite Pink Floyd album.
When I was a teen in the mid 70's and we got high to this album a million times!!!!
Floyd's finest work.
yeah, if this had come before Dark Side i often think it would've been raved over in it's place. that said if wywh came first who knows.
@@user-sh6gz8ms6w I'm not sure about that. Dark Side is not exactly a "cheerful" album, but it deals with the human condition, which is why it's so relatable to so many people. Not to mention the great tunes and production on it, of course.
But Animals is DARK. Or the Dark Side of the Earth, if you will.
It doesn't deal so much with our internal struggles so much as it cynically spits at our collective capacity for corruption.
Any one of us could become a dog or a pig, but even if we don't, as sheep, we still allow dogs and pigs to get away with it, because we'd rather maintain the status quo than rock the boat. So in that sense, as a species, we're all "dragged down by the stone" because we're either corrupt or cowardly little shits whose purpose on this planet is nothing but a nihilistic fever dream when viewed through the eyes of realism.
Hardly a message with massively commercial appeal, right? People don't like to be reminded of their flaws, and that's why Animals could and never will be more popular than the other 3 BIG Floyd albums.
You have to see the show WKRP Cinicinnati when hes playing this song, hilarious.
Arthur Carlson: Say, do I hear dogs barking?
Johnny Fever: I do.
Up next.... only another Floyd masterpiece no less !!!
Pigs ( Three different ones )
It's so infectious... you'll be singing " Ha Ha , charade you are " , before you know it. Yet another album to get maximum enjoyment for decades with. Fabulous Floyd Lee. 😍
👍 The Genius of Richard Wright.
It's one thing to multitask but he takes it to another level.
Animals and adaptation of Animal Farm.
What we learn living in the animal farm is history always repeats.
I smell bacon soon to be served 3 different ways.

Bark bark, ruff ruff, bow wow. This is Pink Floyd's BEST song. IMO 🐶🐕🐶🐕
My favorite piece of music animals ,since I was seven years old and my sister brought it home for the first time I was intrigued by the album cover and the artwork listen to it with her. She was in awe of the album. As she explains what all the music meant, miss her dearly and this album is extremely special to me and why it is still my favorite.
Pigs On The Wing is actually the glue for the entire album.
Just find someone who loves you, and everything will be OK.
The bleakest of aural landscapes yet still so achingly beautiful
No one can do it quite like Floyd.
Sublime music and a great reaction to it, as always Lee.
When you get to the next two tracks - "Pigs" and "Sheep" - you'll get Gilmour playing bass as well - absolutely incredible. FYI, while loosely based on the concept of George Orwell's novel "Animal Farm", it is Roger Waters' commentary on life in Britain in the mid '70s. Generally, the Dogs are big business and the enforcers for the elites and government (the Pigs). The Sheep are the everyday citizens, getting screwed over by both, and often even aware of that fact. I'll let you find out for yourself how this all turns out when you get to side 2. Animals is, by far, their most lyrically powerful album (with a lot of the sonic experimentation present in earlier albums) - Roger Waters' increasing overall bitterness and discontent with British society and commerce coming through clearly. A true masterpiece of concept album production.
Summary: "bro". "shit"
Really been enjoying your thoughts on these great songs from Animals. Love the in-depth thoughts as well as the honest reactions.
Animals. One of Pink Floyd's best albums. Remember the year that it came out and the equipment they had at the time to produce the sound. Absolutely classic. You are never going to see musicship like this again in our lifetime.
Pink Floyd albums should be listened to in their entirety.
Well, their concept albums at least. But that's only 5 of what 16 albums?
But this is supposed to be a reaction channel btw
Because every person who reacts to Pink Floyd hasn't been told that a hundred times. 🙄 I think in reality as we know it it doesn't always happen and we should all just get over it.
Yes, they should be, however: there are time constraints, battery power, everyday life and myriad technical issues that can come up in that dictate the length and capacity of his ability to create these videos.....Maybe you need to start a channel listening to albums straight through so you can please yourself and others of your bent.
Do it then tell everyone how different the songs sounded!!
There’s a lot of Richard wright in the animals album!
Animals was loosely inspired by Orwell's Animal Farm, with each animal being a metaphor for various societal classes. Dogs represent the big businessmen, pigs are the politicians, and sheep are everybody else. Roger's first really overtly angry lyrics (definitely not his last).
very well summarized! you should urgently check out floyd live in pompeii - that's just an insane performance.
i've done echoes and a saucerful of secrets from Pompeii so far
Favorite solo by Dave Gilmour on dogs. Excellent!!
This may be my absolute PF favourite song after 30+ devoted years listening and loving everything they did.
Chills running up and down my spine every single time.
Complete and epic masterpiece.
Come on in, dear boy and have a cigar!!! LETS GO!!!
Floyd can be enhanced with a little hallucinogenics or whatever your pleasures are for an Audio trip 😵💫🤗❤️ …..the 70’s were great decade for this Quality of music ! Wish I could go back to 1970 - 79 and appreciate even more now that I know where music has evolved into 🙁
Hey, you're not alone. We've all got our crosses. Move toward the good in your life. Rehearsing and regretting the past is a vicious trap. Turn away and move forward. Thanks for your great reactions to quality tunes.
All 4 opf them did a phenominal job, every single instrument & every part ,its just crazy, Ive heard this so so many times thru the years & THIS time .......I heard Different synth sounds & different guitar sounds & also I hear faint delay on Davids vocals .. ..... At the end when Roger starts singing ......."WHO WAS" ...... you can feel the tension building, each sentence has its own visual. And when he says who was Dragged down & the cord changes to a sustain ...... That hits so fkn hard, that one moment, every time, for me
Easily one of their best works!!
The guitar is very emotional on this song
This is probably the most gilmourish album of all times... It's musicians' favourite PF album
Splitting up Pigs got Waters paid more then Gilmour on that album. They weren't counting minutes. They were counting songs. Gilmour wrote Dogs.
He got screwed.
There are some bootlegs of Dogs when it was played live before the album's release. Played under a different title.
Love your work.
JT
I don't think you noticed, but after Wrights long and awesome part in the middle, it's Waters and not Gilmour who finishes the rest of the song with his vocals. Such a multi talented band
Nick Mason is a great drummer
My favorite Pink Floyd album. You're going to love 'Sheep'. No spoilers but it has such an uplifting outro.
I just feel like every time the band came to a spot in a song on this album where there was a question as to where to go next, they all just said "maybe it needs another guitar solo". David Gilmour defies words on this album. Candidate for my favorite album ever.
Go into a record store, and buy a used copy of the old mix. Also, get this remix. On the way out you can say, "All the rest is commentary..." This remaster is very clean and updated and, along with the new cover photo, reveals a lot of texture that we never heard before, but there is a rawness to the original 1977 mix that this does not manage to eclipse. Yeah, Richard doesn't get enough credit on this track! Notice Roger's lead vocal on the return verse! Seamless. Good commentary. When you get to "Sheep", I'll post the breakdown I've shared elsewhere.
👍 Well put, you are right! I actually bought the LP in 77 when it came out when I was 17 and in high school. I couldn’t believe how great it was then. I still have that vinyl but no longer have a turntable, so I bought the CD about 30 years ago. Still love it to this day. Last year I bought the 2018 remix on CD (having never known about it till then) and it is amazing what you can hear for texture. But I still listen to the original mix as well, for the rawness as you said!
I want this record just for the cover alone. It has stirred something in my memory.
I was 16 and did the same. Still keep a table around.@@midnightrambler7716
The remaster cover is great! It is a photo of the actual new remodel of the old Battersea plant on the original cover which I saw once from a bus in 1980 on an orchestra tour. I can't imagine a better cover/concept for a remaster of any album. @@L33Reacts
@@anahatatutuI keep meaning to get another turntable but never get around to it. I should. I went to an exhibition in Toronto last summer called “Pink Floyd Their Mortal Remains”. It has been all over the world and if it comes to a town near you, it is not to be missed for a Floyd fan. All kinds of memorabilia and exhibits of band members’ instruments and clothes from back in the day as well as exhibits about each album and all kinds of information about what band members did before and after joining the band including extensive information about Syd Barrett. Great gift shop as well with a fabulous “free” coffee table book if you took the VIP tour as well as old concert programs and T-shirts and all kinds of other stuff. I picked up an Animals T-shirt with the original album cover as well as an original Animals Tour Book that was sold at the concerts back then, even though I did not go at the time.
Thanks..such a great song.... Richard Wright on keys is also amazing.. appreciate your reaction...
I remember when this album was released NME described it as “Punk Floyd”. Saw it live at Wembley Stadium UK.
This is the 2018 remix and it sounds incredible!!!!!
Masterpiece by Pink Floyd
Great reaction/commentary! I love this album, bought it upon release and it became and remains my favorite from PF. Can't wait for the rest, thank you!
best british band ever.
Saw the 77 Animals tour at Soldier Field. Fantastic except for the Hare Krisna's trying to sell me flowers outside the stadium. This song has my favorite Gilmore solo of all.
Awesome album!
You need the lyrics for this album...in fact for all their albums as the lyrics are always very deep and profound.
Floyd at their best. Waters at his best lyrically. Top notch Pink Floyd.
These lyrics are so based and sadly true
Great Album. Concept album obvioualy. Pigs, dogs, sheep. Especially dogs, strangly moving song, breaking away from the pack
Thank you for reacting to this PF song. Its my favorite song on this album. Also one of my favorite songs by PF period. Like so many songs by this band, its about life and survival. I was fortunate to see the Animals tour in 1977. I was just a kid in High school. I've also seen Roger Waters do this song live the past 20 years. I absolutely love hearing Dogs. It never gets old.
❤ I subscribed because of this song.... awesome choice

Pink Floyd have always been my favorite band and I think Animals is far too underrated in general. I think it is top notch.
It's great to see young folks appreciate the music I grew up with.
My Favorite track on this album, love the whole album .as i do all of there albums.
My favourite Pink Floyd album, you make sence and speak sence keep up the good work.
I love this song and this album.
I strongly recommend just reading the lyrics without the song. This works especially well with Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Beatles and Zeppelin. The music can be so complex and overwhelming it's easy to miss out on many details of an amazing set of lyrics.
This is my favourite Floyd album, some of the people they reference a long dead although their effects on society you can still be felt.
Not bad for nearly 50 years ago eh!!
Also my favorit Floyd Album, somehow this is more of a "Bands" album, great compositions, moody guitars sounds if the song needs it!
One of the greatest songs ever made
Absolute fire. That acoustic start is very hard to play not least the tuning😊 I always wondered why he didn’t play more like that. In most songs it was acoustic strumming in E minor and G 😂
The final solo is Rog’s favourite of Dave’s IIRC
Omg funny story ! Bought this album when it came out I was 14 and it's my favorite PF album so fast forward to last summer I walked into my small town bank and PIG'S is on the stereo lol it was a frigging twilight zone moment . Always be yourself my friend can't wait for the rest of the album.
“1977” great album…. Still have my original pressing of this Masterpiece ❤️🎸🔥
Dogs is one of PF's greatest songs IMHO. Bought the vinyl of this back in '77 in college, and my friends and I were blown away. Spent hours in our dorm room stoned listening to this. It does, like most Pink Floyd tunes, make you think. Glad you reacted to it. Cheers!
I've been waiting for this one. My fav Pink Floyd track.
My favorite ANIMALS track.
The best version is from the Roger Waters' "IN THE FLESH" tour, with Snowy White (played with Thin Lizzy) and Doyle Bramhall II (worked with Eric Clapton) on guitar. Just so incredible. Waters and the band even manage a hand of poker in mid-song!
QUOTE: "In the Flesh" was a series of worldwide concert tours by Roger Waters that spanned three individual tours over the course of three years (1999, 2000, and 2002)."
Yes. Yes. Yes. I honestly like David alot more than Roger, but my God you gotta at least watch it. It would be better to see your reaction to it though.
@user-dq5xx9hi4q, Snowy White is a bit of a journeyman in Britain. He played on the original recording of this album but the only way to hear his part was to have a copy on 8-track. Pigs on the Wing was only spilt in two parts to fit everything on vinyl. Snowy did a solo between part one and two. Here's the link

"Nuclear War" by the Sun Ra Arkestra (It's a "jazz group" ~~~~)
A number of years ago on a site called GrooveShark, there were certain famous bands and artists whose materials were very hard to find by their actual names. Then one day I saw a song by some group called "The Cool Boys" turned out it was the code name for the Beatles on that site. Maybe a notion could be derived from that to, say, do Fink Ployd stuff in the future, or "those trippy boys." Just a thought.
