    So first of all thanks for the video and pointers. I have almost the same machine, mine was also only spraying from wand, not the machine. I actually started at the spray heads thinking I'd save some time. I was wrong. They were fine, my issue was with the heater being blocked and the filter that spins to show water flow to the spray nozzles. We had used this machine a few months ago at a cabin where the water supply was contaminated with fine sand. This is what blocked it up. A big thing to note for my machine was it still wasn't spraying after cleaning everything including the pump. I had pretty much given up, however I thought I'd get it put back together completely and try it. Once I got it back together it worked perfectly. Still don't know why, other than the soap dispenser wasn't in, so maybe wasn't creating suction for the pump. Hope this helps anyone who runs into the same issue.

    • @joshwolcott4213
      @joshwolcott4213 Рік тому +1

      That is exactly why actually. If the soap dispenser is not in and the machine is set to any mode other than "rinse" the open soap dispenser plug will allow air in and bleed the pump. The other possibility though is the tube coming off the top of the pump is actually and air line the goes in the the suction path. That tube self primes the pump. I have no idea how that actually works inside the pump but that's what the tube does. If the pump is dry the system may not prime unless you hook that hose up and clog the suction inlet to create a vacuum

    I performed bypass surgery on the heater unit. I tossed out the heater, taped up wire ends and wire-tied them away. The downtown hose was just long enough to reach the value. Next I cleaned sprayer carefully with a needle. I also cleaned out spray hoses with q-tip. I pushed the q-tip through the hose with bicycle spoke.
    Results: It works great. I just shampooed the carpet in my apartment. I got the Bissel 25A3 from the alley behind my apartment. Someone threw it out. I had fun fixing it. ...not so much fun using it.

      @@joshwolcott4213 I agree. With my two brush machine I bypassed everything I took the hose from the water tank outlet to the spray nozzles and eliminated everything else , except the wire from the trigger that activates the water pump for the sprayer.
      So now I add detergent and warm water to the fresh water container, and that gets sprayed on the carpet. When I'm done, I empty out any leftover detergent and flush the unit with fresh water.
      Excellent video! I thought you had very good diagnostic methods, especially when several different things could easily be plugged up.

    Hi. I just started watching your video and I do have a dual 2x Bissell cleaner. It looks brand new. I found it curbside at my neighbors. He was moving out snd I think he used it one time to clean his carpets and it stopped working. I can tell he used the Bissell shampoo. The unit had white drips all over it. Anyways. It doesn't spray. • @joshyouwa
      @joshyouwa 2 роки тому

      This is actually a more significant repair than it looks like from outside the unit. You actually need to remove the hose side wheel to remove and replace the small hose. It's deceptive because the return house simply unscrews. The base has to be completely opened and wheel removed however to re-thread the hose and reattach. I had hoped to do a repair video on this series of machine but I've procrastinated so long there are not that many of these left in use and we so rarely see them a repair video is becoming less relevant.

    I bought my Bissell Pro-Heat 2X Revolution Pet carpet cleaner from your Arvada store years ago, and I'm delighted to discover that you make these excellent videos! We've used the Bissell marketed soap for years, and I'm concerned that it's clogging up the hoses/junctions/pump etc., because flow volume seems reduced of late, and because you point out repeatedly that it will do that. I noticed in comments that you do not yet have a video that addresses low spray volume for this model, but I'm wondering if there's a way to flush out old, crystallized Bissell soap just by running a cleaner (enzyme-based?) through it a couple of times in place of the soap solution? Will switching to the soap that you recommend act to reverse the old soap buildup at all? Also, do the 2-roller revolution models actually "spray"? The water appears to exit the head on mine as a stream, not a spray.

      With the Bissell machines, the best thing to do to maintain them, is to avoid putting any soap based cleaners in them. Because of the heating it can cause crystallization in the pump and hoses. Instead try to use enzyme based cleaners. There are many out there but the most effective one we've found is Unique. Here is a link to our website: It explains a bit more about enzyme cleaners, and the unique brand. www.vacuumsrus.com/product/cleaning/cleaning-products/carpet-care/unique/unique-carpet-shampoo/

    I assume that if people don't do a "rinse only" job on their rugs after doing the soap job, that that would eventually result in the soap gumming up the system. ...just a guess.
    Our system never seems to get that crystallization. It's maybe 13 or 15 years old or so, and I just had the whole thing apart and didn't see anything more than fur/hair/rug fibers anywhere in it. Besides a little soap stickiness in one area of the head.
    We are a bit anal about getting the soap out of the rug, so we tend to do a lot of rinsing. And ya, I assume this also keeps the system clean of excess soap due to all the clean water running through it before it gets stored away for an extended time again.
    All that being said, I think I'll switch to that enzyme cleaner. But after we finish using the Bissell soap we have. :)

      I suspect you are being led in the right general direction. This is typically due to a build up of melted hair and debris in the cogs of the belts and the pump cog. The unit spins briefly but after heating up slightly and receiving resistance to the brush the belt slides entirely.

    Two suggestions:
    1. If your cleaners sprays, NEVER leave detergent in the sprayer again! It will likely clog up in any of many possible places. Remove the detergent and flush the system out with plain water, and then get as much of the water out as you can.
    2. If it doesn't spray, why go through all the expense, time and aggravation illustrated by7 this video? Just use a hand sprayer to wet the carpet, then use the carpet cleaner to agitate the carpet and cleaner and remove the dirty water. Even better, if you have a pump sprayer commonly used to spray weed killer and such, use that to spray the detergent.
    My diagnosis of this unit is two fold:
    1) The unit must have been the product of a marketing design team, and they included all kinds of pointless features that you don't need, and which are prone to getting plugged up and causing failure to spray
    FAR better would have been to keep it simple to avoid problems.
    2) The instructions should have emphasized, STRONGLY to flush out the unit with fresh water when done cleaning. It says nothing about that, and thus invites failure. A label directly on the machine directing that it be flushed out with clean water would have been a good idea.
    I have a two roller machine, and yes, it was a SOB to take apart and clean.

    • @vacuumsrus
      @vacuumsrus  Рік тому

      Honestly the most effective way to maintain your shampooers to ensure a quality lifespan, is to avoid soap based cleaners all together. We strongly recommend our customers switch to an enzyme based solution such as Unique. Enzyme cleaners do not crystalize and clog up machines like basic shampoos tend too. If you want to learn more about the benefits of enzyme cleaners, take a look at our website. www.vacuumsrus.com/product/cleaning/cleaning-products/carpet-care/unique/unique-carpet-shampoo/

    • @SeattlePioneer
      @SeattlePioneer Рік тому +1

      @@vacuumsrus Well, I modified my two brush model so that liquid is fed from the clean water tank directly into the pump that feeds the spray nozzles. That allows me to add warm water and detergent into the water tank which is then fed right into the spray jets. The trigger on the handle turns the pump on and off.
      I can empty out the water and detergent and flush things out with just water when I'm done.
      I figure that since so much of the system is eliminated, there's not that much to get plugged up anymore, mostly just the spray jets that have easy access.
      So I'll give that a try and see how it works.
      I found your video very helpful in understanding how to take the damn thing apart and where the problems with it were to be found. Thanks!

    The discussion seems to be about whether viewers should see a good, clear closeup of the heater and its connecting hoses.
    When blockage isn't found in the heater element, and that hose is then disconnected-people trying to use smart phones to learn this easy repair would really prefer to see those little details, since they are essential little details. If they grab it with such authority as they see but do not possess, they may yank the hose and screw it up. Then their beady little eyes go spatial and they snarl at themselves, not with themselves. The slower they are, the more they like big pictures, because they really are prone to yanking off anything they get their cloven hooves on, if they aren't warned against it. The thing should fill the screen head-on for a couple of seconds, long enough so the goofs can hit pause on their own phones and blow it up to fix their soulmate, their Bissell.
