    My sincerest Thank you, Sir
My machine has been sitting for months bc I knew I had to call Bissell to be walked through what to do like a 5 yr old, and I was dreading it
You showed me where the belt is, and I found mine to be off…not even broken, just off.
The quickest fix ever! Can’t believe it!
    Thank you again!!

I’ve had this vacuum for a few years now and it’s still going strong. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was cleaning it today and thinking about how much I love no bags to buy and that it comes apart for easy clean up. When I first purchased it we had two dogs and a cat and it kept up well. The suction was great then and still is now. I’m always amazed at the amount of hair it picks up, it works better than any other vacuum I’ve had for pet hair. The attachments are handy and work well. It’s easy to use with arthritic hands. I just had to come write a review because I’m still so pleased with this purchase.

One thing not mentioned: When checking the belt, also check that the red ball the belt is wrapped around easily turns. If it doesn't, that is your problem.
Lint, cat and dog hair, and carpet fibers can get clogged in the small recess between the red ball and the water pump, causing the red ball to stop spinning.
Usually when that happens, you'll smell rubber "burning." The rubber belt will eventually break, but replacing the belt won't fix your problem if you don't clean out the debris that clogs the ball.
Also, use a flat head screw driver to remover the belt cover, not a plastic stick.
Good video. Good presentation. Time to wax your unit to make it shine! :)

    • @GetRealBaby
      @GetRealBaby 8 місяців тому

@@VacMaster1991 It won't break. Done it many times to check for and clean out fibers and stuff from that area.
BTW, if ever think about buying a new Bissell "rug-scrubber,": you might want to check out the Bissell Powerforce Powerbrush. It's lightweight, does a great job, cleans easy, and sells for under $100.
Because our kids are always asking to borrow ours, we ended up buying two. They're really worth every penny.

I have done all of those things. We live in the Southwest where we have hard water, which clogs every thing small. Lastly I am 70 years old, nowhere near as flexible as I use to be, and my back reminds me of it. Bissell is a maintenance intensive cleaner, if I can't get it to work, I am going to have to look into a better product, where I don't have to do a complete rebuild everytime. If you are lucky enough to live 7 decades, you'll know what I mean someday 😊

Thanks for the video, very informative! My steam cleaner was not sucking up water, so immediately i knew it was a suction issue, but was overlooking the issue. It turns out, the red filter cap attached to the sllution tank lid was covered with lint. As soon as i had removed the lint, it was sucking water just fine again.

Thank you so much for the thorough video. I was just now tasked with troubleshooting ours and this was the first resource I checked out.
    However...
I'm loathe to leave without commenting on the "Removing Belt" chapter. I was actually _yelling_ at my monitor while you were fumbling with getting the cover off, hahaha. A quietly confused "you're using a soft nylon spudger to open the lock tabs?" quickly went to _"JUST LEAVE THE CHIP THERE! JUST LEAVE IT THERE! NO, DON'T TRY TO PRY IT, JUST PUT THE CHIP IN AND-" At that moment the chip crumbled. I realized how foolish I was being and stopped vocalizing my frustration at that point, being glad you eventually got it open with that method.
Pro tip for using that tool set for this task in the future: just, uh...leave the chip in there in the gap you made, then move to the other tab 😅 Though as alluded to, the use of that spudger will do more damage to it than being an effective pry tool; especially when facing the slightly increased tension on the second tab. But leaving the chip there in the gap means that the cover pops up on its own when releasing the second tab. Easy-greezy!
Pro tip 2: Use a medium-ish flat-head screwdriver for greater effectiveness and tactile feedback when manipulating the tabs. Considerably less effort (and bending of a spudger) to unlock them. If you're worried about potential scratching, just lay your cleaning rag over the opening and gently push your screwdriver through to pull in the rag as a soft barrier. The fit may be a bit tight given the thickness of the rag, but as long as it's not too thick you won't have issue with getting enough of the screwdriver in for effective leverage.
I hate the thought of giving unsolicited advice, but it's at least *genuinely* helpful information for anyone open to it, haha; and I figured little tips to make the job easier would be appreciated on a video designed to help others ❤
Aaand then I noticed at the end that your iFixit set has the metal prytool and couldn't help but release an exasperated sigh and say, "you had that the _whole time?!_" hahaha
P.S. - The chip isn't designed to pry, it's meant for sliding between surfaces to cut adhesive. You experienced an unfortunate destruction of the chip, and I'm sorry for your loss.
    RIP lil' plastic chip 😥

I tried the ifixit tool on another vacuum before and bent it. The fact that it's so difficult to remove the plastic cover shows how annoying the design of this thing is.

I was really, really hoping this would help. I especially believed it would after opening the belt housing & removed a bit of hair twisted along the edge of the belt. But no. Still no spray from the bottom or the hand tool. I know there’s a way to reset the hand tool, but can’t recall…I think you just hold the spray button down for 10 seconds. At any rate, mine still isn’t working. I have to say…as much as I love how well this particular machine cleans, this is my 3rd one that just stops working altogether. This time I’m pretty mad about it because I’ve only used it about 5x on 2 bedrooms. I won’t be purchasing another bissell after this. That said…thank you so much for the walk thru.

That's annoying. This machine has issues for me as well.

Great video, thank you! My belt was off the metal rod. However, once I started vacuuming it kept slipping off again repeatedly. Argh!!

Darn it. Honestly this carpet cleaner isn't very good anyway. Mine kept leaking so I eventually returned it

You should get a water softener if it's that bad.

Any ideas about clearing out the hose for the small attachments?

Fill a sink or bucket with 1 gallon of water and suck it through the hose. That will flush out any stuck debris

I come to learn from your videos and thought I'd have found the culprit but not quite. So thanks for showing me about the spinner filter, it was absolutely full of what looked like tiny crystal materials (tap/solution sediments most likely) After cleaning it, a little more accumulated. I can tell some water/solution is decreasing from the reservoir as well as some accumulation in the dirty tank but I am using it on linoleum to better see how the water is spraying & its intermittent & actually that spinner only moves every so often as well so to me there is some connection, meaning its only spraying when the spinner is moving but its not consistent to when I squeeze the trigger..... any ideas? Lastly, I find it strange that the dirty water tank is so large compared to the water tank, got to thinking Ive seen other models where clean water was added to the larger one but I dont see that on this model . Thanks for your time!
